One of my favourite JJ Bean locations! Love their upstairs seating as it offers a great street view. Coffee wise, I always get a latte here. The latte art is usually pretty & the coffee taste is always rich & aromatic. Much better than Starbucks, and that’s coming from a Starbucks fan! I also love their ham & cheese turnover. A tad oily, but oh so delicious.

Nice place to wake up and smell the coffee! Fast friendly service, good cup of coffee. I walked a mile out of my way to come here and skipped the Starbucks in the hotel lobby!

I’ve actually been this location a few times when downtown meeting friends as this is preferred compared to the other chain that starts with SB. This location has ample seating(enough) even though the layout is more long than wide which makes sometimes maneuvering a bit of a pain in the ass. Not much in the pastry department at least the afternoon times that I have gone. Decent latte.

Absolutely the best café mocha I’ve ever had. I wish this company would expand to the U.S.

French pressed coffee was really strong. I’m not too sure why this place gets high ratings to be honest.

JJ bean has great coffee, great space and a not so great manager. As a manager you are responsible for the overall experience and that also include having not the most miserable look on your face. Learn to smile!

The coffee and food is good(kinda expensive though) but the staff is less than desirable. Rude, they think they own the place, just poor customer service. Not even one smile.

I love JJ Bean. They have wi-fi, comfortable seating and delicious treats. Their hours of service are decent, their customer service is top-notch and in the summer they make these«shiver» frozen coffee drinks that I’m slightly addicted to. I get the chocolate ones and ask them to add hazelnut. It’s a game-changer.

Excellent new coffee space under Loblaw’s City Market. A little slow at filling orders — I assume new staff — but highly personable. Beautiful space with inside and outside seating.

My favourtie JJ Bean location! Good study place, not too loud and the seats are comfortable. Their coffee is great, as always. Although I am usually not a mocha fan, the mocha from this place is pretty good.

… it’s so difficult to actually begin with a review over a business that is like a real love affair. I love their COFFEE. . I am a huge fan of JJBean! It doesn’t get any better in Vancouver when it comes to COFFEE. I first found out about them years ago through my regular coffee house when asking the owners” where you get your coffee roasted? «- «JJBEAN» was the answer. They have had a little kiosk inside the Farmer’s market on Granville Island for decades! nowadays they have a good bunch of snazzy, hip-hop happening, quirky slick ‘n minimal YET Über stylish interior designed locations throughout the cityscape. Unfortunately, nothing close to my house on Vancouver’s Westside. They’re downtown and east side Vancouver centric. That’s my only regret. JJBean, gotta love their persnickety perfection and attitude towards COFFEE. They’re ROASTERS1st, retailers 2nd. — hence they’re the BEST! I have become a particular fan of their French Press coffee. To die for! and then there’s the EVER elusive but mouth watering, orgasmic Butter Tarts! if you are lucky to catch any of their butter tarts still in the bakery display, YOU damn well get one! — OR two or … they’re the BEST butter tarts in the world! I’m always blown away by the food they have to accompany their fine beverages. always fresh made. on site. locally sourced/grown and organic/free-range. I really appreciate their scrutiny to detail. I’m sorry about only one thing: they used to have an AWESOME chicken pesto pannini … discontinued. :( oh well that’s fine … everything else’s still worthy of repeated visit.

love this place! friendly staff, great coffee, decadent cinnamon bun w/authentic! cream cheese icing!, sourdough grilled cheese w/fresh salad… They have a great apple muffin, too. Chairs are a little awkward to sit on, but can’t be helped– in a busy location where seat turnover is EVERYTHING, you really don’t want people lingering several hours over a small coffee, huddled over their laptop.

Good vibe, cool street view, great coffee. Prices are a little higher than Starbucks but the baristas do a better job and use better beans. Searing upstairs is great if you can find a spot. Keep in mind there aren’t any power plugs. It almost seems like they intentionally don’t want me to work here :)

Normally I wouldn’t oooo and ahhhh over a coffee chain, but this place rocks. Food was decent. Coffee was okay, but the interior was super cool. Some chairs and tables downstairs. Upstairs is the place to be where there were cozy modern chairs and tables spread apart. It looks like a coffee lounge with old school music blaring in the background. Awesome place to relax, have a great conversation and gaze outside the window and people watch.

Came here last December with a friend who I wanted to catch up with. Prior to this visit I have came here a few times with the same gf. It seems like a catch up coffee shop that we would go to. I love the design of this place. It’s simple and unique in its own way. Its located at the corner of Alberni and Thurlow. Very convenient if people were shopping in downtown. My friend and I arrived at the coffee shop 45 mins before they closed and we both ordered a tea. It was a decent tea but it was exactly what I needed cause at the time I had a stuffy nose. We sat upstairs at a corner. Great way to look out the windows. Why I didn’t give them 5 stars was due to the chairs. They look pretty cool but don’t feel as cool as they look. They are super comfy but hard to get up when u’re wearing heels and is over the height of 5“8. If you’re skinny like me you would be able to even share the chair with someone else. I would definitely recommend this place to people as a great way to relax from their busy day. In the near future I would definitely come back. Their service isn’t bad either as they gave us a 5 min warning before they needed to close and not just shoot us out the door.

Came here to get some coffee. Parking here is pretty crappy, so you may want to walk. The interior is surprisingly upscale. Special mention here. I felt like I was in some high end furniture store. Glass and metal everywhere. The coffee was quite decent.

One of the more stylish coffee places you will ever step into in downtown. On the corner of Alberni and Bute, this place just shows you that coffee places do not have to be a cookie cutter style, and can be different in the sense of chic(Crate & Barrel style) look, with nice bright whites for walls and furnishings instead of using old, dark woods to make a place moody, this place decides to stay in the ‘NOW’ and is a comforting sight to see, and to sit in and enjoy that cup of java. The one thing this joint does not have is wi-fi, so you won’t have the leachers in here with their laptops and milking one cup of coffee to the very end looking all smart, and attemepting to do homework, while really doing something else. There are two levels in here, and you can hide from the masses upstairs, to some odd bucketed seats that you may get too comfortable in. I think their coffee is not bad, but the place adds to the experience of your coffee. Nicely located just away from the busy stretch of Robson, one can ‘hide-out’ before heading back into the warzone of shoppers, and of people looking. This place has seating on the outside, right around the block, sure you will occasionally be approached by a peddler(this is due to the liquor store next door) for some change, but that is the risk you have sitting outside, including bird poop, rain and second hand fumes from cars. It’s good to have a variety of ‘Java’ shops around here, and a great addition so you are not bombarded by the monopolized green mermaid that use to rule this core!

One lesson I was told upon landing in Vancouver was that the lifestyle pace here is less furious than where I came from. I should slow down enjoy my vacation and smell the Coffee. Vancouver is definitely caffeinated to an extreme with shops in every corner more so than Gas stations. As I slow down this morning at this JJ Bean location enjoying a Cappuccino($ 3.40) that easily matches any Espresso Beverage I’ve had in Toronto. The local suits and BMWs drop by for their fast pace workday while I do the opposite in this Black on White furnished, Art Gallery(wood/whites) setting. Note: I do NOT like the Cup/Plate here. Not ergonomic enough.
