Came here yesterday for Dine Out, and it was a depressing experience for 30 $. I had the butternut squash soup, then the seafood ciopinno, and a dessert to finish it off. I really do wish I could say nice things about the food, but I’m at a loss of words. The soup had a very strong stingy clove spice smell that I’m not a big fan of. It smelled like an essence oil. The ciopinno had a relatively small portion, with shrimp mussel and scallop the portion size can be overlooked. Unfortunately the mussels weren’t very fresh and my friend tasted sand in hers. The dessert was chocolate mousse with a plenty of whip cream on top. It was a little too sweet for my taste. The service was pretty good though, on the other hand. All in all 2 stars for food, extra star for service.

So delicious! I got the waffles which were so huge and the compote was amazing! The coffee is so rich and amazing too! Definitely worth the price!

I took a friend visiting from out of town here this morning. The place is nicely kept but there was maybe 4 people inside. I should have listened to my gut and found another breakfast place. We both ordered the shrimp and avocado Benedict. The eggs were disgusting, I tasted water. The English muffin was over done, I guess they forgot to take it out of the toaster. Long story short avoid this place for breakfast/brunch.

Sangria: 5⁄5 Food: N/A Service: 4⁄5 Ambiance: Confusing but 4⁄5 Came here with the ladies for some drinks and we ordered a pitcher of the red sangria. The sangria was strong to our liking with lots of fresh berries to munch on. The place was nearly empty on a Friday night which was nice after having 2 previous failed attempts to find a place in the area for drinks. This place reminds me of Commune which is equally as confusing as to what they actually are. A café? Lounge? Restaurant? A bit of all three I guess. The rating is for the sangria and service as we didn’t try anything else on their menus.

We came here for breakfast. We were seated right away, no waiting. The coffee tasted like it had been sitting on the burner and wasn’t hot. I would think if you advertise your establishment as a «coffee bar,» your coffee would be outstanding. My husband waited for his iced tea through most of the meal. If they were making it from scratch, I can understand that, but he said it tasted like it was made from a mix. He had classic eggs benedict. He thought the hollandaise tasted off. My french toast was good. I thought the prices were typical for the downtown area. The service was acceptable. The premises were clean and well-kept.

Their website showed different prices than their actual menu. They increased everything by $ 3 for each an every item. I had a plate of Muscles and Seafood pasta. The Muscles were a waste of money, they were dry and badly presented. Pasta was a small portion. After finished food, we crossed the street and had a Falafel sandwich cause we were still hungry :( The place resembled a cheap franchise(like Dennie’s or McDonald’s). Don’t take your date or any significant other there and expect to impress them!

Abode was there when I was at my utmost hungry state so I was happy they had options to choose from. I was however unimpressed with the overall quality of what I ordered. The charcuterie platter had only the bare essentials to a great sharing dish but was missing was key components like cheese! Had it not been for the wine I ordered helping me wash down and forget what I had just ingested, I would’ve been even more so disappointed. I will not return.

The first time we ate here, it was hard to tell how the food was because the patio had tourist buses for the hotel idling constantly right next to it. This time, we decided to see what the food tasted like when we weren’t choking down diesel exhaust. The result: meh. The dining room is thankfully air conditioned and relatively well appointed but the lighting is very weird. Recessed lights directly above most tables are almost blinding, and the restaurant doesn’t feel very intimate. You’re always aware of your fellow diners – even the ones across the room. We ordered the veggie sandwich and the mussels with fries. At $ 12, the veggie sandwich seems like it should be a steal, but it’s kind of unfortunately bland. Sliced bread from the grocery store, roasted veggies without enough salt or herbs, and a spread that didn’t go near the corners of the sandwich(sandwich heresy!). I paid $ 2 to upgrade the side to a potato salad and wished I hadn’t. Undersalted, undercooked cold potatoes mix with boiled egg whites and celery for something that tastes mostly of water, and dollops of blue cheese added only a locker-room-like aftertaste. Hard, uncrispy bacon is tossed over it for an occasional surprising moment where you actually taste something. The mussels and fries were much more flavourful, but unfortunately we had two bad mussels in our bowl. Someone in the kitchen is not paying attention, and the result is an occasional explosion of septic foetidness and a game of food poisoning Russian roulette. Overpriced at $ 19. Our server was pleasant and friendly without being overbearing. For her sake, I wish the food were better(and the lights were on a dimmer switch).

This Place was nothing special. It was mediocre to any average breakfast place. I had a vegetarian breakfast burrito, it was huge! I finish half. It had scrambled eggs, black beans, onions and mushrooms. Salsa, sour cream and avocado was on top. The potatoes on the side was crispy and perfect to go with my burrito. Over all. It a good place for breakfast.

Big sign outside read cocktails… was not impressed with selection or quality of drinks. They’re award winning Boa Bite I believe wasn’t very flavorful, got the Pilsner and slight apple cider flavor, but nothing else. My friends drinks tasted of bourbon and nothing else.

Alright place. Nothing impressive or bed. Has a good reputation because it located right under a hotel I think. Service was good. Food was average.

I came here hungry on a weekday morning craving some eggs benny and as this place is close to home decided to give it a try. The location is very convenient, on the quieter side of Robson and usually packed with tourists that stay at the hotel upstairs. They recently went through renovations, so the furniture is updated but just your average hotel restaurant type of look. It looks a bit 90’s style if you want to get technical! My server was very friendly and the service was quite fast and hassle free. I ordered the classic eggs benny with bacon and wasn’t a big fan of the sauce… after all that’s the only reason you’d have one. Overall the food is just average so I suggest you walk by and find a nicer place to satisfy your brunch appetite.

The food was just okay and the service was the same. I had the special for breakfast, which was posted as a full Irish, but didn’t come with blood sausage :-s. The highlight of the dish were the beans, unfortunately there weren’t a lot to enjoy. The quality of the ingredients seemed strong, but they didn’t do anything too inspiring with them. My wife had the Marlene(sp?) omelette, which she described as meh. The coffee was good, too bad our mugs sat empty for the last 30 minutes of breakfast.

I have been hearing mixed reviews of this place off and on throughout the year from other Unilocalers in conversation, however, decided to take the plunge and try it for myself. I have had this book marked since March 18, 2015 when I was at another Unilocal meet. I’ve been here before when it was another name and I can’t say that I was impressed. They’ve done some upgrades since. The interior does look modern. The menu for brunch and breakfast was okay. Pricing is all over the map, however, for my $ 11 breakfast I had to send my bacon back. There was lots of space when I came in at around 2 pm, therefore, my meal was served quickly. I worked on my zine a bit there. Service was decent. I made two friends on either side of me who were dining alone.

Much more modern décor restaurant than before, in this little known hotel that most Vancouverites wouldn’t know. Seems to be breakfast type so another option. Main seating area on left so I sat in the nice booths, with communal table in front of bar. Ordered chocolate milkshake, not sweet or thick enough, nice touch with chocolate sauce and whipped cream. Great patio seating for summer action.

We went to this place in a random manner on Robson Street. It’s hotel restaurant for the Horizon’s with typical clean-cut decors and a quiet atmosphere. That night, we ordered the Cobb salad and the Meatball pasta. The salad was pretty good, fresh and I like the house made ranch dressing. However, the chicken that was served with the salad was a little dry and I sensed it was precooked. As for the pasta, the noodle were cooked perfectly and the sauce was refreshing with every bite. Same as the chicken conclusion, the meatballs were a little dry and a little blend to taste. I guess this place is great for a quick meal and I would try their lunch menu.

We couldn’t find a place to have breakfast that we felt was to our expectations,(cooked healthfully) but after stumbling on Unilocal,we are satisfied! Late breakfast, just simple, but gorgeous eggs, tasty bacon and yummy potatoes! Not a ton of food, definitely not greasy either. We are here in Vancouver for several days so I’m sure we will be back! We came back a second time and it was just as good. I had the omelette and a hazelnut latte. I didn’t feel grossed out by grease or unhealthy food.

Pretty mediocre brunch experience this morning. From previous reviews and photos posted, my expectations were perhaps a bit high. Service was slow and absent-minded; we had to ask our server several times for coffee refills and I requested cream for my coffee four times before getting it. The coffee was strong and quite bitter, but a sprinkle of salt fixed that(yes, it really worked!). Food orders were mixed up and the food runner did not know seat numbers when she brought the food, so there was quite a bit of confusion when plates were delivered, despite the fact we were only a group of six. The server was apologetic and sweet, though, so it was tough to be upset with her. Sadly, the best thing on my plate was the toast and jam. I had the Marilyn’s Omelet and it was quite bland. It looked boring, and it tasted exactly that. I wish I could say better things about this place, but the consensus of our group was that it was a disappointment. No chance I’ll return.

Not sure what more you could ask for in a nice little breakfast place: great latte, comfy bench seats with a view of passerby on Robson, friendly wait staff, and eggs Benedict made precisely to(my picky) order. I definitely recommend it and would be a regular if only I lived here …
