It’s no surprise that the roasting location happens to be a great one. I love everything about this one! Limited seating, but what is there is very comfortable, staff is well trained, coffee is great and the baked goods are out of this world!

I have never been to a JJ Bean and been anything less than blown away. The food is good, the pastries are incredible and the coffee is delicious. If you are craving a coffee and a cookie definitely make a point of going to a JJ Bean.(I recommend the zucchini muffin) Also, the staff are great! They are chatty and make a point to get to know you.

great location, believe it or not, in the middle of nowhere – industrial area – but it’s good before/after Second Narrows bridge or PNE ;) this corner location is actually bigger than it looks from the outside. Corner L-shape seating, bonus for bigger groups.

The coffee is amazing. I’m very fussy too. Their toilet system is a little ridiculous though. They keep keys on the counter and you just grab them. I obviously did as I was told and went into the bathroom. I clearly jumped the queue but didn’t realise since people queued without knowing a key was needed and I guess I didn’t notice, two keys, two toilets, one free, use it. I almost got assaulted by a woman on the way out! Bad system. Regardless, coffee is great and I randomly, the day before met the manager of the downtown one. He was dressed like Noël Gallagher and I just had to ask whether he was British! He was irish and very friendly indeed. We chatted a bit whilst walking down the drive and he recommended the coffee — good shout sir!

Awesome, low-key coffee shop with incredibly friendly baristas. Their coffee has really grown on me. But oh man are those jalapeño muffins good. You gotta move quick on a weekend morning to grab one before they sell out! And it’s very cool to see them roast the beans through the glass window, and good people watching. A great jj bean location.

A JJ Bean is a JJ Bean… A decent cup of joe, comfy seating, strong wifi and damn good ginger cookies. Even with all the pluses, the JJs never make it past the three star range for me. They are a solid coffee shop and a solid second pick every time. Except today. Because today, the three ladies working at this specific shop made my afternoon. Too little sleep, too many meetings and not enough time between them meant today started off on all the wrong feet. By the time I frantically crawled into this coffee haunt, I was on my third meeting of the day without caffeine. A cappuccino was needed — stat. And like I said — decent coffee, decent price. But then in an attempt to multitask a conference call and a twitter check, while opening a door & balancing a laptop and said newly made coffee, I lost my grip and not only spilled but EXPLODED my cappuccino across this restaurant. Slapstick comedy style, limbs flying everywhere, a total mess moment. After an embarrassing few seconds, I picked my now coffee covered butt off the floor and shuffled to the counter for a towel, so I could sheepishly begin to clean up my mess. When the ladies realized what had happened they actually LEAPT into action. One came around the corner with a mop, almost scolding me for attempting to wipe up the coffee I had spilled, the second asked if I was ok in a completely genuine manner while the third remade the coffee I DUMPEDONTHEGROUNDBYMYOWNSTUPIDITY. No questions asked. Within 5 minutes, the place was clean, I had a new coffee in hand and felt a little less like a total buffoon. It was excellent and endearing service and I thank them for making what could have been a total embarrassing moment, the service highlight of my afternoon! Service ninjas indeed.

This has become my go to for early weekend morning homework sessions. The staff at this location are crazy nice and the tables are conducive to lap topping. It’s never really packed(who the hell is up at 7 on a Saturday) and there is something soothing about the dinging from the railroad tracks. Coffee? Good. Tea? Good. I want to marry the vegan chocolate zucchini muffin, but why oh why don’t you have a vegan breakfast wrap too? Contrary to all those cheesy mugs and magnets, a girl cannot survive on chocolate alone. Perhaps I will treat myself to a bean roasting tour next time, that sounds rad.

These guys are classy, and friendly. They always go out of their way to help and not once have I witnessed a bad attitude, despite it often being busy — and that’s in the two years that I’ve been going there on a regular basis.

This is my favourite JJ. I never come here anymore… used to live a couple blocks away, now I’m downtown and have a new home-base-JJ, but this one remains my favourite. So cozy and adorable and staffed by cute East Van girls who would always smile at me and make me feel special and warm as I am late for my bus to work. Plus it has a great view of the Princeton(SCENIC!) and you can listen to the trains roll in.

In the past, I haven’t always had the BEST experience here. Not recently, tho. :) The two coffee dudes were patient(and cute, too) when I tried to use my cc without the pin.(Don’t ask.) When I accidentally poured cinnamon on my friend’s coffee(because I hadn’t yet woken up without mine) they poured me a new one, no questions asked. Even the patron behind me was friendly when I held up the line. I thanked her profusely, as no one likes coffee-line-stallers. Love the East Side roast and when making it at home, this makes the best coffee of any that I’ve ever had. A little pricey, but what good coffee isn’t, nowadays? I enjoyed my latte, too, and it didn’t taste«burnt.» Although I only ever take my coffee to go, the coffee shop has a warm appeal. It is worth driving out of your way to go here. Free parking. Muffins are delish, too. So if you happen to be driving dt and have time to stop(b/c sometimes that SB drive-thru is oh-so-tempting) go here. You won’t be disappointed; in fact, you will be smiling from ear to ear.

49th is a ‘one off experience’ like a special bottle of champagne. JJ Bean is the real thing — the everyday best of the best. The aroma was intoxicating as I walked into the coffee shop today. They were roasting a new batch of beans… I always order the americano — and the crema makes the coffee.

This is my at-work go-to coffee shop. One of the staff has gone out of her way to learn my name, which has never happened in a million visits to my closest Starbucks. The coffee is consistently tasty and the grill cheeses are killer.

If you book in advance, for $ 5 you can get a group tour of how they roast the coffee for all the JJ Beans in Vancouver! It’s quite informative and cool. They even roasted a batch for us to see the different stages the bean goes through. This is the first place where I have drank black coffee and actually liked it. :) Oh yes… they make amazing coffee.

This is a great local coffee company with delicious beans. For me it’s great because it is a short walk from my home. For this I am glad as it is a great spot for me to relax with a good cup of coffee as well as for meeting clients and other contacts. Keep up the good work.

The closest JJ location to where I work. I’m needing a break, I’m needing a good chai latte(and I mean a GOOD chai latte. with soy), I’m needing good service from down to earth people(not starbucks robots), and I’m needing it now… They will remember you and maybe even draw a picture of you on their chalk board if you visit enough.

When that mid afternoon headache comes a knocking I took it all the way to the bowels of East Vancouver.(Okay so maybe it’s not that bad) but it smells like«fowl» bowels in this hood! Avoiding the transient persons lurking outside, I quick-walked in to a different world for my senses. One with the smell of freshly roasted coffee, with windows that read«don’t feed the monkeys» and«don’t tap the glass.» What an awesome idea — show everyone the coffee that’s roasting while you roast it! One that also has friendly and quick service, and loungingly pretty tables, this is top on my list for coffee shop pit stops when beelining it to or from Deep Cove/North Van and North Burnaby. Although, I don’t know if I’ll ever consider it a destination — the fowl smell is pretty horrendous!

4STARS Espresso Good lattes! Can be great Lattes… but consistancy can be a problem based on the barista. Coffee is roasted in-house, and has really improved since the early days of JJ Bean. The Customer BIG ‘blue collar” following at this location. The trains are right next door, and many workers from the waterfront come for coffee. The décor Industrial! with a few seats to read a paper or chat with a friend. The Staff Big Range here! Some are excellent… others not so much! If you are looking for a new«Artsy» girlfriend with some funk!, tattoos, piercings, and imagination(??) — this could be your place to find one! Service If you are in any kind of RUSH — service can be extremely SLOW compared to other coffee places. Tips This area is on the rough side. LOCK your car, chain up your bike, and hide your money in your bra!

I live up the street from here and occasionally catch a waft of the beans being roasted. I’m like Pepé Le Pew with JJ’s coffee; «come cloze to me my dahling» With 10 local shops JJ’s has well trained staff and serves up a good mean cup of beans. I always feel comfortable asking questions that I will have a reasonably informed answer and I rarely get the roll of eyes. There’s something to be said for that in a city of ‘tude-ecent baristas. This is such an interesting location, across the street, the marine port. The view of the mountains in the distance that reminds us of where we are. Real Vancouver begins here and there’s so much history to be found. *PSJJ’s Spicy Chai Soy latte rocks !

Hey, it’s my during-work-go-to-coffee-house. Not as bustling as the other JJ Beans no doubt but it has a good flow of interesting people passing through its doors from artists to construction workers. Makes for good people watching for sure. Quality coffee and pretty good snacks like banana bread, cookies, and a few sandwiches. I really do wish they had a bigger sandwich selection so I could go there for lunch more often but whatchya gunna do. Oh, and they really need to start thinking about getting some more daily papers in. Suck. And the help is good too, always pleasant. Nothing to complain about there. Yup.
