I ordered some rolls to go and they gave me a cup of soy sauce. And that soy sauce smelled disgusting. It was not very fresh. Plus one of the stuffs was really rude. Didn’t even looked at my eyes. Not going back.

Quite possibly the worst sushi I have had in Vancouver. The Kani sunomono was not in fact a sunomono at all, and the kani tasted terribly old and fishy. The«best spicy tuna roll in town», was hardly that. The red tuna was in the freezer too long and frost burnt. It was chewy and I had to remove the tuna from the roll. They charged a dollar extra for extra ginger(and it was not extra), they failed to provide sufficient soy sauce, then said they would charge for it. If you are that stingy regarding the condiments I’m certain you will be equally stingy with the sushi quality(won’t throw away old sushi etc). My stomach feels queasy now and I hope to god I don’t get ill. Please avoid for your own sake.

They forgot my order. Such inexperienced staff. The portions are so small for the price. And the place is dirty and tacky. The qulality of fish was pretty good though.

The place is crammed, so no room for a large company, and even a larger person, they also close in the afternoon and reopen at five(exactly at five, mind you, I had to stand outside in cold weather once to wait for them to open). The food is OK, I usually eat donburi, and so far so good.

We walked in to this place on a rainy day and got ourselves some warm green tea. The sushi was very good and the rolls as well. I wished I had been more hungry so I could’ve tried more food but everything we had was great including the miso soup.

Came here for a quick bite before work. My quick bite didn’t turn out to be quick… I had ordered a yam tempera roll and chicken teriyaki with rice. I had ended up taking my chicken teriyaki to go because it took 30+mins to make. Good thing I work just a block away or else I would’ve been late. Anyways on to the service … It was just terrible it took them 10 mins to get me a menu. Plus when I was ready to order I tried to call the server she was like one minute and she continued just to socialize with the other server. So after the sever took my order she asked me if I was eating in or taking out… Uhmm I even specifically told her when I walked in I wanted a table for 1. I will not be returning here.

I went this place on girls night as one of my friends loves this place. Small place so you will be surprised when you wait for 20 minutes to order beer. For me, rolls were good, but somehow I felt Sashimi was kinda warm which was weird. They had two servers, one provided the slowest service(can be a new staff under the training) and the other one provide the worst customer service. Four of us left with unhappy feeling due to their customer service. We left tips as it is kind of mandatory and chefs deserve tips if they get. Honestly, we didn’t even want to give them a dollar. We could have enjoyed their food more, but their customer service skills just ruined it. Will not go back. personally I will give them 3 stars for food and 0 for service.

Went in for a takeaway sushi California roll. It was 7.38 and was awful. Way too much mayo, the crab tasted like it was laced with tuna and tasted fishy and bad. Will never go there again. Yuk

I had horrible service here. The food is totally fine — though nothing particularly special, and for $ 5 for a simple salmon roll, it’s no bargain. But the service… I ordered my food and waited a very very long time to get it – including the miso soup which I assume wasn’t being made from scratch. When part of my order finally came, it was the wrong thing. I pointed that out to the server and she said«really?» skeptically. Instead of apologizing, she went to look at her original note. When she brought the actual item I ordered, she muttered, «sorry.» But OK, things happen. It took another 20 minutes before I got my salmon roll. When I was able to get the server’s attention again, I asked for tea – which they charge for. She acknowledged but the tea never came. It DID, however, show up on my bill. I love how she remembered to charge me, but not to bring it. I told them that the tea never came… the charge was remove, but there wasn’t anything remotely resembling an apology. It’s a cute space, and the food is decent(though over-priced on some items)…but the service is going to ensure that I’d never come back.

It’s a 3.5 rating. I ordered their Super Spicy Tuna roll. The roll is good but nothing special for me. My friend loves their Aburi Toro though.

The food is good. They have lunch specials that seems like a good way to go if you are trying to save some money. It’s not very big inside so if you come during busy lunch or dinner rush, you may find yourself waiting for a table. I thought it was good but not exceptional. Better than some of the other mediocre Japanese restaurants in the area but wouldn’t call this my favourite.

Sometimes ya gotta wonder why things are the ways they are. I penned my previous review of Juno many many blue moons ago. My old review was trapped in time and it’s not been thought of or looked at unless you’ve been checking out your DT sushi options on Unilocal. Well lo and behold I’ve got a new review and rating up my sleeve and this old dog has a new trick. It’s called I believe transformation is possible and preferable! The food is as good as it ever was and it feels like home when you walk in the doors. It’s nice have an authentic Japanese sushi house in a sea of so-so sushi. It’s nice that I remembered to update the new reality of this spot. Welcome back GaryM to good local sushi! g

Shhhhh. Keep this place a secret. It’s a gem. Friendly, not overcrowded and actual decent seating compared to many other Davie Street sushi joints. Oh, and they serve delicious sushi! You’ll come for lunch and you won’t want to go back to work.(Lunch specials are very reasonably priced and make ordering easy)

Came here for for lunch today. I usually make my way here about once every one or two months. Nestled in the middle of a small commercial complex that is off the Granville Strip and just before Yaletown, it’s kind of well hidden and you won’t really notice it if you’re just walking by. Anyway I kind of consider this restaurant a hidden gem since most people would easily suggest other more popular Japanese restaurants in this part of town. However, this is not a popularity contest. Today’s special was a meal consisting of two Fraser Valley pork skewers, salmon roll, salad, brown rice, and a(not pictured) miso soup. The miso soup is probably one of the best ones I’ve had. Not completely sure what they do differently but it was delicious. The salad contained yellow beets which was an excellent touch. Salmon roll, I could taste the freshness in the salmon and even with the seaweed. It’s really rare for me to actually taste the seaweed in sushi and it made a huge difference! Pork skewers could have been a bit more tender though in my opinion. Overall, I would give the meal 5 stars. I’ve also had their chicken karaage before and while they are a bit small, they are also one of the best I’ve had. Only downside I can mention is that the restaurant is pretty small. There is a good chance you will be rubbing elbows literally with the table next to you or they can easily eavesdrop on your conversations. Also, considering the options in the area I would expect a little more bang for my buck. Overall, I would give it 4.5 stars if I could, but I will have to settle with 4. Still highly recommended!

I came here after watching a movie at the VIFF. I really enjoyed this place. It’s got a very cozy atmosphere and the combination of flavours is stunning. The quality of the fish is great for the value of the meal. We started with the aburi toro. And shared the uni-fornia roll, and super spicy tuna roll as our main. I felt the aburi toro and uni-fornia roll had a great combination of flavour. My mouth was watering with each bite! The super spicy tuna was nice too but I enjoyed the other two dishes more. The service was friendly and fast too. I had a great experience and will recommend this place to my co-workers since our office is just a few footsteps from the restaurant.

The Yaki Udon Carbonara! Whooohoooo! I’d never seen this on any menu, so I thought that I’d better give it a shot, and was so glad I did. Really, really delicious… and not expensive. The Italian-Japanese fusion is the best of both — elegant and clean, satisfying and decadent. The carbonara is done well, with the egg yolk lightly coating the udon and gathering up the lightly grated cheese. Small scallops, minced seaweed, slivered green onion, and a two kinds of fish eggs piled on top, bring it all into Japanese territory.

Good Japanese restaurant around Yaletown area. The sushi is really good and fresh, but my favorite dish is the Katsudon because it comes with the right amount of rice, sauce and meat. Usually other places put a huge amount of rice in the dish and I end up eating just half of it. I just do not like the service. The staff don’t give you that much attention and it doesn’t make that much sense since the place is small.

With so many sushi joints in the city, I can only assume how hard it is to stay competitive and providing good fish is one of the ways. I was catching up with a friend on a rainy night that makes you crave miso soup so decided to give this place a try. The décor is nicer than your average hole in the wall sushi joint and the service was way better. I like the dark red colour of the walls that make the place cosy. We sat in close proximity to the kitchen so keeping an eye on the process and I have to say it was delightful to see they make all the rolls fresh. We tried miso soup, which was better than your average over salty version but a bit short of amazing. For our main we got one of the Juno combos which came with Tuna, Salmon, and a couple of sashimi rolls(fish on a piece of rice). I’d say the quality of the fish is just average as I wasn’t that impressed but for the price you pay can’t really complain. This is an ok sushi joint if you happen to be in this neighbourhood but your taste buds might not be fully satisfied!

Came here after arriving in Vancouver on a late flight. Great because I was craving something light and I wanted fresh seafood, which Vancouver is known for. The spinach goma-ae was blanched just right to retain the natural freshness of the spinach and yet the seasoning and sesame seeds were able to enhance those favors. And the pistachio added the right amount of nuttiness to the mix. The super assorted sashimi set is worth getting. All the seafood is unbelievably fresh and I really liked the prawns… The flesh had a subtle hint of sweetness to it. And decently priced — $ 22?! Oh, hell yes! They could take service up a notch though. Besides that, not really any complaints. Would probably come here again with a group of friends.
