Food was pretty good, drinks were pretty good, service was pretty good. What really *was* impressive was the music. We were there on a Saturday night and I loved the live latin music. Patrons get up and dance between tables. A great place to go with a few friends whom you can count on to dance with you. I’ll definitely return just for that!

Going for one of the pasta dishes I cannot say I tasted the deeper Latin side of the menu. For what I did get I was very happy with. We had an early dinner on a Wednesday night and the only complaint I could give is that the music was unusually loud for no one even being in the restaurant yet.

Was very underwhelmed by the 2 tapas we ordered. Black bean con queso tasted like a can of black beans with some melted cheese on top. The only flavour it had was the ton of salt we added to give it any taste at all. The chicken drumettes were almost as bad. No flavour. I was also made to feel very awkward by the waiter simply asking for change for my $ 10. Probably won’t return. The only redeeming quality was the big open window overlooking the drive.

I had a lovely date last night! A pitcher of mojitos to cool down after a long hot day. The waiter was something out of a movie and our food was great. I had the rotini with salmon, capers and artichokes(my fave), and my partner ordered the linguini with avocado. Both dishes were fresh and delicious. The live music left something to be desired but they took breaks. We were lucky to get an open-walled window seat to view passerby. I love the drive!

Lime margaritas? Very good. The service was really good too. I came here for a friends birthday and we shared all sorts of tapa’s. The ceviche was quiet enjoyable as was the mussells(and bread dipping in the sauce, yum!). The paella was good, but better if you put the mussells sauce on it. Sadly, the scallops tasted way too fishy and seafood should not taste fishy, so I have a feeling they were previously frozen still in the shell? Not sure, but I could have asked. We stayed for almost 4 hours & enjoyed the dancing & music. and were still on our latin high, we went Salsa dancing after! I highly recommend this place for a date night, too.

Took my gf for what I thought would be a nice, romantic dinner, but turned out to be quite awful. Portions were small and lacked taste. Service was mediocre. I would not return.

This place is awesome! My girlfriend and I ordered black bean con queso, cerviche, wild mushrooms in filo pastry, garlic prawns and albacore tuna escoveche and it was all delicious. Also very good mojtos.

Tappas and ambiance are the biggest sellers of this quaint expensive restaurant on Commercial Drive and Charles Street, as well as an unchallenged reputation for bringing in huge crowds on Friday and Saturday nights. With dim lighting, expensive outfits and old-country live musical acts(not to be mistaken for country-western), it’s very posh without being modern, and classy without overdoing it. The Latin food is delicious, with exquisite chorizo and fresh simmered seafood. Prices will run anywhere from $ 15-$ 30 per platter, although expect to pay more for the nearly mandatory wine and imported beer. Bottom line is that everyone inside always seems to be enjoying themselves, well dressed and laughing, soaking up the atmosphere.

The Latin Quarter is another great culinary experience brought to you by the avant-garde infused Commercial Drive. This restaurant is a Vancouver favourite thanks to its fun and relaxed atmosphere, eye-pleasing décor, delicious food, and uplifting live music. This beloved establishment is always busy with a happening crowd, and the menu at The Latin Quarter is sure to please. A delectable display of tapas awaits your order and no matter what you choose you’re bound to be delighted. I can’t remember what we chose, but I do recall I was 100% happy and left with a very satisfied boyfriend. The service was great, the food: value for money, all in all a fabulous to-be-done-again experience.

Most people come here for a meal, so I have to start by saying that I only came for drinks. But, I was impressed even just by that. This place tends to be crowded and vibrantly alive with, of course, a nice Latin kind of joie de vivre(don’t know how to say that in Spanish!). The service is pretty friendly and I really like the warm atmosphere here. The coffee was good, and since it was so very busy here, I’m sure the Mexican menu must be pretty tasty, too.
