Menu looks great, presentation is great but flavors did not pull through. I had the eggs benedict with chorizo. I suggest to slice the chorizo thin like baking and fry crispy instead of half an almost cold sausage. Hash browns were cold and in need of salt. Sorry Nigel(owner) but you have done better… When you were in Kits I had the best halibut ever and still talk about it.

I think that I’ve found my favourite brunch place on Main Street. I’ve been here twice now, and both times my food was exceptionally delicious, the service was good, and the atmosphere was lovely. On my first visit I got ‘the Hangover’ which is a kind of fancier version of standard chilaqules; I’ve tried chilaquiles several times in Vancouver and always wound up disappointed. Not so at latitude! They were divine. Crispy, spicy, wonderful. Next visit I decided to get a benny. There was no vegetarian benny on the menu, so I asked for the ‘chorizo, avocado and tomato benny’ with no chorizo — though I didn’t ask for a substitution, the owner(?) made a special effort to see if there was something else on the menu that they could put in my benny instead(subbed mushrooms) I find that with bennies, restaurants can often try to cram too much of whatever under the egg, or slop on mountains of hollandaise, or blah blah blah — I’m a picky benny eater — but holy moly, the benny at latitude was perfect in every way. Expertly poached eggs, good amount/balance of toppings, and silky smokey hollandaise. I should also mention that their hashbrowns are AMAZING. Never undercooked, well seasoned delicious hunks of potato. I’ll definitely be back soon!

A-Okay. Very nice environment. The bartender/waiter was attentive and helpful in deciding what to eat. I had the short ribs with potato and added rice. The meat was flavorful and slightly spicy. Tender enough but my knife was too dull for cutting. It reminded me of my moms cooking on steroids. The potatoes were good – maybe a touch under done. The rice was good but a bit soggy. Reminded me of Uncle Ben’s. A bit pricey but maybe not so bad for Vancouver. Over all, I would recommend giving this place a visit.

Came here last nite as a group of 12. Luckily it was their taco Tue where they have $ 5 plates holding 2 flat form tacos being promoted all nite. I tried the beef chicken & fish ones & all were good flavor. They are appetizer sized but 3 orders can make it almost like a main course by volume. Service was good & nice ambience. I think these $ 5 taco plates are the best value. Not sure what is their reg price. The food menu is relatively small. See their web site for menu. I suspect the regular priced main course items are not very filling for the money.

I really enjoy this place. I’ve been both for brunch and a late lunch. The most recent trip was the aforementioned brunch. I had definitely tied one on the night before and wasn’t feeling my finest. The gentlemen server we had recognized my plight quite quickly, and made sure to keep my coffee and water topped up throughout our visit. I opted for the Breakfast Burrito, which was around $ 12.00. When it arrived, I was a little upset at how small it looked as I needed as much nutrition as possible. Without hesitation, I tore into the thing and it was delicious. All of the ingredients were fresh and natural tasting. It was wonderful. My fears were unfounded however, as when I had finished the whole burrito and accompaniments, I was actually quite full. Sometimes you can’t judge a burrito by its cover. I’ll definitely be going back soon. Hopefully I won’t be as «under the weather» next time.

My friend and I managed to make it to Latitude before Happy Hour ended(everyday from 5 – 6:30 pm), so we were able to score 2 for $ 5 tacos. The tacos were definitely a hit, and my friend and I regretted only ordering one type(we opted for the Carne Asada steak tacos; the guacamole was amazing, and I am normally not a huge fan of guac!) We each ordered a drink, and not being tequila aficiandos, we were a bit lost looking at the cocktail list and the extensive array of tequilas, handwritten on blackboards over the bar. In the end, we chose a Paloma for me, and a Black Paloma for my friend. All drinks are doubles, and boy, they certainly do not skimp on the booze! I was feeling the effects after just a few sips! The drink was pretty good, albeit a tad salty and definitely too strong for me. I ordered the Lomo Saltado, a Peruvian steak stirfry, served over a bed of French fries. The steak was spicy and not too tough, and the fries were amazing, even more so when I asked for a side of mayonnaise. My friend was underwhelmed with her boneless beef shortribs and roasted potatoes. The portions here are a good size for the price. Drinks are a bit expensive(no doubt because they’re all doubles). The 2 for $ 5 tacos are tiny, so order a few if that’s all you’re getting. We will definitely be back, as we want to try all the different types of tacos(and probably more fries with mayo).

Our little dining crew hopped over to Main Street for some Latin American eats. It happened to be Taco Tuesday, wherein you get two tacos for five bucks. Therefore, we ordered a crap load of tacos and a bucket of lagers to polish it off. We ordered beef, pork, chicken, and fried fish tacos. The overall consensus was clearly, the fish were superior tacos by a college mile. Each of us downed two pescadas a piece. The hot wings were also quite tasty, however, not spicy at all. They had a nice honey glazed flavour. We grabbed a second plate. The popcorn for snacking was underwhelming. We all remarked how Latitude seemed like a hidden eatery on busy Main Street as we were surprised by our enjoyment of the meal based on limited info and word of mouth. It was good eats. Yum.

Went to Latitude a couple of weeks ago after a friend told me they have arepas on their menu. Was disappointed upon sitting down and viewing the menu that the choice of arepas was more chef inspired than traditional. I decided to give them a try and ordered one of the smoky pulled pork and one with wild prawns and arugula. Was more disappointed that they were actually tapas upon arrival at my table. Normal arepas in Venezuela and Colombia are like the size of burgers, these are like sliders. Also ordered some guasacaca(Venezuelan guacamole on their menu) and it was really good while not really actually guasacaca. Don’t get me wrong though… there is a lot of whining up above but while the arepas and guasacaca weren’t authentic, they were pretty tasty and the service was friendly and attentive. The ambience was a bit more trendy than I was expecting for a Latin American street food place, but when I realized everything was tapas it made sense. Probably wouldn’t have been as disappointed if I had checked the menu out online first. So I would recommend if you are looking for a trendy place and want to try some tasty non-traditional chef inspired takes on South American/Latin American street food/tapas, but not if you are expecting the real thing.

Last Tuesday night the weather was too summer perfect and I was too lazy to stay in and cook. We biked through Main street to see if any fare might compel us to stop. Latitude smartly had a board posted just outside their door advertising Taco Tuesdays with two tacos for $ 5. We tried all three fillings: chicken, steak, and fish. The fish tacos were topped with this amazing pickled onion concoction. We also tried the arepas(a Colombian cheesy corny thing), which although small in size, had great flavors. I don’t drink, but everyone around us had some amazing cocktail in hand. I’m guessing from the large drink menu posted that this is the place to go for anything with tequila in it.

We wasn’t plan to go there for breakfast, we passed by Craving and saw a long line up outside. Therefore, we drove up and found Latitude. The food was ok, not impressed at all! Such a simple breakfast — Benedict wasn’t good. The service was extremely slow and inattentive. I won’t recommend to Unilocalers to go there.

A late Sunday brunch on the sidewalk patio with friends was relaxing and definitely an experience to repeat. Bottomless coffee was a good brew from JJ Bean. I felt like some bennies, so I ordered the Chorizo Eggs Benedict: perfectly poached eggs, thinly sliced avovado, tomato confit, and sliced sausage. Simple and tasty! Hashbrowns were more like roasted chunks of potato, but no complaints there! Friends’ scramble and«Hangover» were generously portioned and delicious.

I went to Latitude for brunch with friends and can’t wait to go back for dinner! Usually the best you can hope for with brunch is a well-executed version of the usual brunch standards. Latitude’s menu had artful(and delicious) twists on the standard brunch. I had an egg scramble with sliced turkey sausage, asparagus and shaved parmesean. The dish was perfectly spiced and cooked. Make sure to request the restaurant’s homemade hot sauce — it’s amazing! Other slight twists include eggs benedict with chorizo or carmelized onions and oyster mushrooms. My fellow diners had an incredibly decadent french toast and the breakfast burrito. The portions are generous and the prices are incredibly reasonable. The service was friendly and relaxed with great attention to detail. The restaurant has a comfortable neighborhood feel although it can get a bit noisy.

Latitude, you impress me everytime. We decided to come here for a special occasion on a Friday, so I called in to make a reservation. They told me that they were quite full, but should be able to fit us in. Perfect. A bit later they called back and made sure that we didn’t need to stay too long, because they didn’t want to rush us and then also offered the bar seating to us, in which then we can stay as long as we wanted. I assured her that it was going to be ok. Great customer service-letting us know ahead of time what to expect. Upon arrival, we were seated right away and greeted by our friendly server who then introduced the specials to us. My friend got the seafood chowder special for his appy, and then the Malbec braised lamb shank for the entrée. I got a couple of the fresh oysters, and a paella wtih Baja prawns, Saltspring mussels, local fish, with pale ale infused chorizo. The chowder had lots of seafood in it, and my oysters were delicious. The lamb shank was tender, and my paella-it was just as good as I remembered it to be. All the ingredients were fresh, the tomato soup base was just right. A wonderful dinner in a great setting. Another great experience-Latitude, you never let me down.

I’ve never heard of this place before but my friend suggested it and we ended up having a great dinner. Latitude is located on Main so it was super convenient and free parking out in the front. What a bonus! I think the food was supposed to be Latin tapas style. We shared mussels, chickpea fries, paella, fish tacos and the special of the day trout. I’m usually on and off with mussels, bad mussels can usually trigger BM within 20 mins. These mussels were soo deliciously plump and juicy in the most amazing smoked chili and coconut sauce. The flat bread that accompanied it was also great. The chickpea fries were also yummy, just picture deep fried hummus sticks? Served with smoked paprika mayo. The fish tacos were so-so. Got soggy real fast. The paella was very good but not amazing. The trout was done absolutely beautifully. Soo juicy, tender, flaky and the skin oh so crispy. If it wasn’t for the trout I would’ve given Latitude 3.5 starts instead. Another cool thing about dinner was that the singer Lights and her entourage was having dinner in the table next to us. Canadian talent! I actually had no idea who she was til my friend mentioned it and I googled her. Oops!

I had a great experience at Latitude. Seriously wow food and helpful service. I’ve noticed that the other reviews have been extremely mixed. I admit I’ve only been once so far(last night, a Thursday) but I’ll definitely be back(contemplating tonight, for more of those incredibly addictive chickpea fries!) We shared those fantastic, inventive, perfectly seasoned, crispy chickpea fries and a bowl of mussels in coconut-lime sauce with flatbread for dipping to start. The mussels were good, but you might have noticed that I’m absolutely smitten with the chickpea fries. Then I had the beet-goat cheese salad. This is a pretty common winter menu item and most places do a good job(it’s hard to screw up unless your beets have no flavour). Beautiful touches here were the candied pecans(lots of ‘em) and the dressing that used preserved lemon. Nice! I also had calamari, which can be so not impressive.(But I could smell it as soon as I walked in the door and suddenly, I wanted it). And this was possibly the best fried calamari I’ve had. A light, crispy, herby batter. Again, perfectly seasoned. And the great thing is that I was bent on drinking red wine(wet October evening, that’s why), and our server was able to point me to a Tinhorn Creek Cab Franc that she thought would work well with the squid. She was right. Will definitely be back; it’s just a question of when.

This was my second trip to Latitude in 6 months and I really enjoyed it both times. I am working my way up and down Main as there are so many great places, and here is another nice one. The room is slick looking and more nicely finished and highly designed than most Main Street places. The reservation was perfectly handled, and I was warmly greeted, and seated early before the 3 others in the party arrived. The service was really a perfect balance, only negative was how long it took to get the bill at the end, but we were in no hurry. Water glasses always full, excellent menu guidance, and when an obscure question was asked our server went to the kitchen and got an answer. I had Lois Lake trout over delicious winter vegetables and fingerling potatoes. I had the cheese plate to share with all and a beet salad to start, all very nicely prepared, excellent ingredients finished with Pannacotta for dessert. Everyone in the group was very happy with the food, and I had a few delicious nibbles of other items. My martini was perfectly prepared and there was a nice selection of wines. Our first wine choice was out of stock, but the barkeep came over and suggested an alternative which was delightful. The room was fine to begin with but way too loud after it filled up. Maybe try a early weeknight. As time progressed we were shouting at one another will not take a party of 4 again as you can only hear the person sitting directly across or right next to you. Try using sign language for the person diagonally across the table of 4. God help you if you are a party of 6. If you hate your in laws bring them, don’t sit next to them and you do not have listen to a word they utter. There are 3 booths that may be a better choice as they are cozy and in a nicely panelled wooden box, but they may do little to make the noise factor more reasonable. It was too loud the first visit and terribly loud and highly annoying when every seat in the house was full. For my disabled friends… the front entrance is flat and the restaurant is accessible throughout, but there is no way the bathrooms accommodate the disabled in any way. Given the complete and total renovation of the space, it is odd they would not put in at least one handicapped washroom.

I’ve been to Latitude three times — twice for their $ 15 mussels & beer Wednesday special, and once on a Friday evening for dinner and drinks with friends. If I was writing this review after only going there on Wednesdays, I would have given it four or five stars, but my Friday experience knocks it down a few notches. First, $ 15 for mussels and a beer is a good deal. You don’t get a lot of mussels, but enough to feel satisfied. The mussels usually cost $ 14 on their own, which is not worth it for the quantity provided. The restaurant has been half full on Wednesdays, and the service has been wonderful both times. I recommended going to Latitude on Friday with two friends, based on my Wednesday experiences. We ordered the mussels, prawns, halibut and polenta to share. We were shocked at the size of the prawns, halibut and polenta, given the prices. The service was very slow, except for the bar, where drinks came as soon as they were ordered. Long story short, go to Latitude on a day they have specials(like Taco Tuesday or Mussels & beer Wednesday), or go after dinner for a great glass of wine, but never come when you’re hungry and expecting a full meal for a full meal price.

I seem to have had the opposite experience at Latitude as Seann.(And I don’t ever eat at chains if I can avoid it.) I ordered both a small plate and an entrée. The small plate was fine — very small but that’s not out of the ordinary. But the entrée was really small — it was tapas-sized(but entrée priced — and billed as an entrée on the menu). The little bit of halibut was nicely done, though, and effort had been put into the presentation. They’re clearly targeting a more upscale clientele than usual on Main; the décor is trying for understated chic, and the space has a small, intimate feel. Service isn’t quite in line with the décor’s aspirations, though. No quick dinner for us – for our table of two, it took 15 minutes before they even acknowledged we’d been seated, and we didn’t have our entrees until about an hour in.(Note: they seemed to pay more attention to the larger tables, I’m sure because they figure that’s a larger tip). Also, they’re very slow to refill drinks & water, which is too bad as that might increase their tip from a small table. I’m likely a part of their target clientele, and I’m not sure I’ll be back. I left hungry, after spending about $ 100 for two people for dinner & a couple of drinks. I can spend the same for a normal-sized entrée and better service at any number of nice restaurants around town — for instance, Vij’s, where I went a week or so later and spent only a few dollars more and left quite full. If I want a nice dinner and am spending over $ 100, there are plenty of places in town that will give me better service and normal-sized entrees that are equivalent or better in quality. If I want a quick tapas dinner, I’ll go somewhere that serves small plates at small plate prices with speedy service. Latitude seems to be serving the diet niche — people who want to feel like they’re buying a full dinner, without actually getting a full dinner’s worth of food.

This is a new bistro/wine bar near Main and 16th. We went there hungry but were very disappointed by the small portions. The duck was very, very good, but $ 19 for a tapas-sized plate is simply not a good value, and especially not in this part of town. The wine list is more promising, though.
