So, I’ve been on a salad bar binge lately because it’s been too hot to cook anything in my apartment. This review is only for their salad bar which was only OK. They have a great selection of fresh-cut veggies and fruit that you can build your own salad with, but I guess I’m more a fan of the«fancier»(or maybe unhealthier!) salads like pasta, quinoa, bean, kale or potato salads — which they don’t have much of a selection of. They also had a few hot items including rotisserie chicken, roasted vegetables, and rice when I was in there(didn’t try any of those). Price seems to be on par with other places(Salad Loop, Urban Fare, Whole Foods, etc) per 100 grams — my salads usually total to around $ 10. I might come back to check out their juice bar but probably skip on the salad bar next time as there are better options around the area.

Fresh ingredients. Plain and simple. They cut up the ingredients for the smoothies right in front of you; the salads are also yum. Good and healthy; so great that it’s right in yaletown.

This is it, I’ve finished my first ever juice cleanse. That’s right, I haven’t had anything to chew on for the last 3 days and I’m still alive. Thriving, in fact. Before juice cleanse, I didn’t notice nor did I care to understand why my mood was always neutral. I felt un-energized, but ok, generally procrastinating self, constantly looking for motivation. I didn’t feel particularly ill or as if something was wrong with my health. I’m a male, 23, generally fit, without the beach body. I don’t live off kale and gluten-free products, so I really didn’t see how removing my favourite foods was going to be a great idea. During the juice cleanse, I did not experience overnight change. Surprise! My body didn’t transform into a super model, but i most definitely felt more aware of things around me. Maybe coincidentally, but I did interact with a lot more people that day. As the day 2 came by, I lost most of my hunger thoughts. I wasn’t actually hungry, I was simply craving something salty to chew on, like bacon. But it was not a hard task to change my attention on something else — I felt like I had a never-ending source of energy. Having juices with me eliminated the need to pre-plan for meals, make time for buying food, and actually eating. Of course, i didn’t feel bloated, sleepy, or constantly having to stuff my face with a random snack around me. It was actually great, it felt a little like freedom. One of the most powerful changes I noticed is in my sleep pattern. I did not for once wake up during sleep, I had a great rest every night, and I was able to fall asleep within 2 – 3 minutes. My mornings also started very fast. I’d have my first juice on the way to work and I was ready to go the minute I got into the office. I’m part of the coffee drinking culture, and I thought I needed coffee to get my energy pumping early — i was wrong. By the end of day 3, i had no interest in eating food, I was focused on my business goals, and I felt like I could take on the world. It’s when you really start feeling happy, you realize that the comfortable sense of boredom is actually the opposite of happiness. Besides meeting awesome people who’ve done it previously, I felt more connected to my thought process than ever before. Now that I’m done with the juice cleanse, I’m happy not having fast food cravings anymore. I’m more aware that different foods make me feel differently. For the first time, I have a desire to eat healthy, nutritious foods instead. Yeah, I loved this whole experience.

Grocery store slash juice bar. You can pretty much ignore the hot bar… I’ll echo what the other reviewers have said. Given that I live and work very close its a convenient stop and their smoothies aren’t bad. The hot bar always seems somewhat dismal when I’m there and the soups might be appealing, but it’s always the same– borscht and chicken noodle. The one time I tried the chicken noodle it was still cold in the warmers from refrigeration. I told the guy working there and he offered to microwave it, but I was just getting it for a work lunch anyway. Once microwaved it was indistinguishable from canned varieties. Decent for a quick meal but nothing to go back for. The salad bar has a good selection for the area and more than you’d expect in such a small corner shop. They are all hand cut too. Juices and smoothies are where this place shines. It’s a great stop on the way to work for a healthy snack and the service is friendly-laid back. You order your smoothie and they either have it pre made in the freezer or they go pick the fruits out of their salad bar selection and blend it or juice it right there. There’s the option of whether or not to add ice too, if they don’t ask, let them know your preference. It’s kinda nice to switch it up depending on the temps outside. They’re always willing to make substitutions too. Same with the juices, anything bottled can be juiced fresh-for those that aren’t in a rush and care about that kind of thing. I usually spend $ 7 on a juice or smoothie and over $ 10 on salad bar, their stamp card is nice too, I think it’s buy 7 get one free? Always a good stop for healthy juices or a quick produce run. I love leafy box!

Salad bar, juice bar, come small grocery store. I’ll give 4, but it’s more like a 3.7! The smoothies are pretty good, lots of fresh ingredients. The salad bar is the highlight with above average selection including veg, fruit, and a hot bar section with a decent selection of meat(roast chicken, meatballs etc). I’m not entirely how affordable the veg is to buy as a grocery store location. Probably on par with anything else in Yaletown.

Eh… it’s ok. I had an appointment at Sugarbox around the corner, and when you get hair ripped from you, it makes you desperately want a green smoothie. True story. So with my handy, dandy mobile app and the only other quick choice being Jugo Juice — LeafyBox made the cut. It’s an interesting concept. They sell produce and salads, as well as, smoothies and juice. The produce looked fresh and plentiful, but the interior design is rather«hospital like», so it takes out some of the appeal. Where that appeal is gained back is in the 24oz green smoothie for $ 7. I’m used to forking out much more then that for a smaller cup, so I was pleasantly surprised. I had the Super Green — banana, mango, spinach & kale. It was SUPER heavy on the banana and though it filled me up for the next few meetings, it wasn’t anything to write home about. I would tack on another star if they were boasting more organic whatnots and E3 Live, but as it stands, this is a «decent» juice place. Worth a swing by if you’re in the area but not a destination juicery.

A friend wanted to eat a bit healthier so we went and tried out the Leafy Box. Blocks a way from where I live I was happy to try out this new healthier alternative. Overall pretty good. The food was fresh. What I like best is that they provided ‘meaty’ choices too! Unlike a lot of other salad bars that I’ve been to this place had fresh hot roasted chicken and meatballs in a meat sauce. Sometimes chewing all that salad makes me feel like a cow! Haha! Remember people man can not live by beet alone! Haha! My only minor compliant is that their drink selection is very limited and not too attractive to me. I bookmarked this place! I’ll be back!
