I can’t even tell you how dirty and unsanitary this place was when I visited. It’s clearly only still going because it preys on desperate drunk diners after hours… The wall next to my seat was splattered with food residue… And there were ACTUALFLIES on it! So gross. When we moved to a different spot and ordered grilled cheese and«home-made» tomato soup… I’m not kidding… But the soup tried to kill me… Besides being Luke warm at BEST… There was a shard of metal(from a CAN so I guess it wasn’t home-made after all!) in it AND the grilled cheese was soggy with in grilled butter(the cheese wasn’t even melted). JUSTRIDICULOUS!!! They still charged me full price… I’ve never gone back. The one bright note is that It’s on Main Street in a fun location and the atmosphere is super retro-cute. They’re open late! But I dare you to eat there.

I love the feel of this place. I went in late one night and the service was friendly and on point. He helped me out with questions and checked in often enough with how things where going. I ate the avacado cheese sandwich. Very tasty, exactly like I expected. Also had a nice tomato soup as a side. Also a great side dish. The downside is I heard all about there amazing milk shakes, but when I was there they were all out of Ice crème. I ordered the apple pie. It was the best apple pie I have ever eaten. I wanted to have it al la mode but alas they where out of Ice crème. Either way I was very satisfied and will return! I have to try their milk shake next time.

Food: 3.5 stars — the veggie burger and fries were okay, I’ve had a better milkshake too. Service: We sat down, no one even greeted us or brought us water for a solid 10 – 15 mins. We had to wait another 10 – 15 for a server to take our order. Not super friendly people and it’s pretty slow. Ambiance: It smelled so bad, I don’t know if it was the machines or the heating but it smelled like stale cigarettes. It’s also super cramped. I don’t know what anyone would expect from an east side diner, but it’s not fast or friendly.

What I enjoyed most about my first time Lucy’s Eastside Diner was the atmosphere. It was relaxed yet busy, retro yet quirky, inviting yet not overbearing. The food was fine — nothing I’d run return to try, except for maybe the onion rings and hash browns that they happened to completely run out of before we ordered(around 3pm). The servers were mostly friendly and casual — maybe a bit too casual. It took a very long time to take our order and an even longer time to prepare our milkshake(not to mention the wait for the food). Our server didn’t realize that she mixed up our order with another party who had ordered after us and received their meal before us. Her explanation was that she is a vegetarian(all the orders were different burgers with different toppings) and doesn’t know what different kinds of meat look like. I found this a bit ridiculous as she works in a restaurant, but didn’t make a big deal about it. All in all, if I were to return I’d want to try the onion rings but would expect slow service, straightforward and lukewarm food, and a very casual atmosphere.

Love this place. Whether you’re meeting a friend for dinner, or going for hangover lunch the next day. this place has something that will leave you full and happy. The servers I’ve had were friendly and nice and would definitely recommend getting the onion rings or club sandwich. & it’s a great plus that it’s open 24 hours.

A month ago my husband and I ordered some late night sweet mini burgers. When we were ready to eat, I took a bite and the bun was hard as a rock. like really, I could not eat it. It appeared to be old and dried out, not the deliciously soft pan de sal bread that it was supposed to be. And the time it took from the restaurant to where we ate them was probably 10 minutes. I like to give the benefit of the doubt… maybe it was an off night? So I ordered here again tonight, this time the classic burger. When I got it home, the beef was not fully cooked, a bit pinkish in the middle and was overall unimpressive. The milkshakes here, however are usually pretty good. Tonight was watery and not very creamy as it usually is. The poutine is pretty decent, they give you a lot of nice cheese curds and the fries are not bad. Likely we won’t be returning to Lucy’s, too bad it use to be a pretty good late night spot.

DISGUSTINGSERVICE. Long story short, our server(the only server) named Sandra? or Cassandra? STOLE our change($ 20 bill for $ 7.55 food) because«our group didn’t tip enough». Just took the whole $ 20 bill. So me and my friends decided to come in on a drunken tuesday night. It was a big group and yes, it was hard to calm everybody down. Some of my friends noticed that she was a little sarcastic and complained a lot. Obviously, half of them also being servers, they didnt like the way she treated us. I, however, did not care. It was 4am, a cheap diner, i did not really expected much from it. The last straw was when she was getting the menus from our table, she said«MOVEYOURELBOW!» in a snarky remark to one of my friends. and thats when we all looked at each other with THATLOOK. Time for paying, a lot of us paid with cash. Some people who ordered something for $ 7 just paid in $ 10 and did not ask for a change. I paid $ 20 for a $ 7 food and said just give me a $ 10 back. One of my friends who ordered something for $ 11, also paid in $ 20, and told her to just give $ 5 back. So we were all still sitting at the table, waiting for our change, the person who ordered an $ 11 meal decided to check out whats going, whats taking so long. Few moments later, she went back to our table and said«Lets just go». Me, not knowing what was going on, was still waiting for my $ 10(i didnt know she didnt want to give it to us). So i went to the cashier and said, «hey i never received my $ 10 back. I paid a $ 20 bill for the all day and night platter?» and she said, actually, yelled rather«I put all your change back on the table! This is all the cash i got *showing me a bunch of $ 10 and $ 20* for all your group!» So i asked her did anybody not pay or something? and she went off on me like«Some of your friends did not tip! Even just a 50 cents tip would be appreciated!» Apparently, she had the same previous conversation with my other friend, and when my friend said, «So because other people did not tip you, you would steal it from our change?» and she said«Well they’re your friends!» So i just told her, «You look like you need that $ 10 more than i do, keep it.» I was drunk and i didn’t want to argue over a piece of paper(or since it’s CAD $, plastic?) Plus its almost Christmas. Whatever. Dont waste your time at this place. I can’t believe im saying this but at least at Mcdonald’s, they won’t shortchange you and the food would actually be more edible than this crap.

Friendly service, awesome smiles. Great diner food, I had the Ian Marshall burger. Taste awesome. Only drawback was my bottom bun got soggy from the chili so I couldn’t hold my burger but that was just luck of the draw. My fiancé had the triple Benny, Hollandaise was tasty and the Benny great. I gotta try their milkshakes next time.

You’d need to be pretty drunk for this food to seem good. I was not. I had a Grilled Cheese sandwich and Fries.(Something that should be pretty darn hard to do wrong.) It was actually the worst Grilled Cheese I’d ever had.(Mind boggling) It was as if someone had nuked a tiny piece of low cost cheese in between two pieces of unbuttered toast for 20 sec. and then slapped a $ 7 price tag on it. And the fries were horrible too. Didn’t even finish the tiny amount I was given.

It’s a good greasy diner with a good atmosphere. Their milkshake machine was broken so we were pretty disappointed but it was otherwise good. The onion rings and Mac and cheese were yummy

I’ve been to many a greasy spoons at many an unreasonable hour in many cities and several truckstops, so I have a certain expectation, but I haven’t been this disappointed for so many reasons in just one visit. Let’s start with the food, simply because that was probably the best part of the experience. I got a grilled cheese sandwich with fries. I’m thinking that they cook off a bunch of fries, keep them somewhere near a heat source and just slop them on the side of whatever dish they feel requires some space filled. As for the sandwich, two pieces of way-more-than-day-old bread surround a Kraft single. Lite. Asked for mayo on the side. Got some orange stuff with relish in it in a ridiculously small paper cup(you know, the kind hospitals put patients pills into?) Like I said, the food was the highlight. Gf asked for three pigs with bacon instead of sausage. Our«server» had the balls to say, «why not sausage, its the same animal»! Got two with sausage and one with ham. I didn’t even recognize that it was sausage, looked like rabbit turds to be honest! Let’s not even talk about the hollandaise. Pretty sure it was just warmed up mayo, that’s what it looked like anyway. At least it was corrected fairly quickly. On to «service»; We asked if we could sit at the counter as there were four of us and no other tables open. We all work in the service industry so we have no problem waiting or seating ourselves. Our host begrudgingly allowed us to sit at the counter but never once gave us any kind of greeting or offered menus, etc. It wasn’t even that busy(its a very small place but she acted as if it was a 500 seat restaurant and she was acting as host, bartender, server, cook, dishwasher, food runner and busser). She also told us that we couldn’t have any alcohol because it looked like we had already had a few. Fair enough. But don’t say that you can’t serve us because its quarter after midnight and then bring out three Strongbow ciders to the guys next to us who got there just a couple minutes before us(I’m pretty sure they were at the same show we were). She claimed that they ordered their ciders at 11:30 and that is why they are getting them. Next, a customer comes to the till to pay her bill but only has hundreds. Customer asked if that is okay and the server sighs disgustedly and says«must be nice, but I guess so». Then there seems to be some confusion about the correct change that should be made and the«server» says to the customer who happens to be Asian«you’re probably better at math than I am anyway»!(I know, my jaw hit the floor too!) Once the customer has left, she continues to talk about the amount of hundreds the customer had to us and other patrons. Not cool. When the customer returns claiming that she had been shortchanged and explains why, the«server» says«I think you’re lying but here’s your twenty»! Then continues to bitch about the customer once she leaves. She even told two parties to leave because she didn’t have time to serve them. My fingers are getting tired of complaining. Can’t write more except to say that it will be a cold day in hell before I go back to Lucy’s. And to those who have said the food is good and the service is great; are you a masochist with no sensory glands?

Ugh. I’ve been putting off doing this review because thinking about the food again makes me gag. Honestly, I didn’t have very high expectations. I just wanted something a little bit tastier than McDonalds since not much is open late at night. We walked in and were surprised at how busy it was. A little squishy but if it’s this busy, the food should be good right? We opted to sit at the bar. I went for the Verner Peter as I’m not much for breakfast food even at breakfast time. The Verner Peter is described as «Tender brisket, mushrooms, bacon, monteray jack cheese baked together with dijon and honey». I thought I’d stray from my usual diner staple of Meatloaf and try something new. The food came out within a decent amount of time considering how busy it was. My initial gut reaction after seeing my dish wasn’t so much«Oh boy! Let’s dig in!» and more so «Okay… here I go.» Yep. Tasted as great as it looked. Ugh. Nasty. Dijon and honey is normally wonderful together. I don’t know what else they threw in this dish but it was not edible. I tried to pick at the bacon at least(HOW do you screw up bacon?!?). Nope. I have never in my life tasted brisket this way either. ugh. On the plus side, the fellow serving us behind the bar was very nice. Too bad the food sucked. My partner was not impressed with his burger either. I left very hungry. Never going back. I’ll stick with McDonalds next time.

Worst food ever. Went in today for brunch ordered a coffee and baileys and it was served in a glass? Then ordered salmon scramble and my bf had the chorizo hash… Both were disgusting. His slightly less so. My «scrambled» eggs looked as if someone had peed them out onto the plate they were smushed up with what I think was cream cheese and brownish smoked salmon and about 2 lbs of soggy brown onions. It looked like it had been dragged out of the Dead Marshes and plopped down in front of me. My hash browns were as hot as the fires of Mordor yet completely uncooked ?!?(How is this even possible, what evil wizard cooks here, Saruman?) My boyfriends chorizo hash was supposed to be served over potato’s with a side of hash browns, there were no PO-TAY-TOS, his eggs looked like orc boogers but his hash browns were cooked and as crispy as Denethor when he throws himself off the Citadel.(Yum) all in all I was very bummed out by Lucy’s and will never return(unlike the King)

Tried to eat here tonight and had heard the service was crap and let me tell you it is. The chubby Latino waitress working was a psycho bitch and was only concerned with flirting with male guests. Me and my friend also a female she would not make any eye contact with us nor clear the table for us. When I asked her politely if we could sit outside she snapped and yelled«no patio closed» then proceeded to make doe eyes with some guy seated at the bar. One of her friends came in apparently after us and she ran like a bull to hug her and almost knocked me over without saying a word. Sadly this is one of the few 24 hours in Vancouver but unless you are really drunk Or stoned don’t bother as that bitchy waitress will probably spit in your food. I think I’d rather have a double root canal without anesthesia then eat here or endure that looney tunes waitress. Needless to say we walked out

I’ve only come here for the breakfast food and have been really disappointed both times. First time was late at night and I ordered the eggs benny, which arrived with cold un-toasted English muffins, and cold hollandaise. I did not eat very much because it was terrible, but I thought maybe it was because of it being so late and busy. So I decided to give it another try, in the day this time. I ordered the Lucy’s scramble, and it came half cooked, with the eggs really quite runny in places. I don’t even know how that happened with a scamble that’s being moved around in a pan, how can it come out half cooked? It made me sick to my stomach eating it. The staff also have some problem areas, I had a great time with the nice girl who serve me during the day but I was actually harassed by another customer on my first visit and the staff took a very hands off approach to the verbal harassment I experienced that night. They basically told me that the people hurling insults in my fce and invading my privacy were regulars and there was nothing they could do. They also offered to have my meal comped but then made me pay at the end of the meal. Things got out of hand that night and there needs to be some help for these young adults working the late shift with drunken assholes rampaging around the restaurant. This restaurant has some serious issues and it aint pretty, eat here and exist as a single young woman here at your own risk.

I came here for a late lunch and based on reviews I figured the menu here might be what I was craving. The interior was small, crowded and aged. Dust or airborne grease had fogged up the decorative plates and there were yellow sticky fly traps hanging above my table. The menus themselves were sticky to the touch. My friend had the pancakes and I opted for the Grant Marshall burger with fries. The burger was huge which I can appreciate — large portions are always a nice surprise but it was assembled in such a way that made it inedible. This is the first time I have ever had to eat a burger with a fork and knife. The biggest problem was that they applied a very runny mushroom and onion sauce directly onto the bottom bun, then two patties interspersed with bacon and cheese and finally all the veggies at the top. When I went to pick the burger up, the bottom bun dissolved into a puddle of mush from all the liquids applied directly to it. The meat had a distinct aftertaste of liver. The fries were overcooked. Being that this was my first visit, perhaps that is Lucy’s preferred method of cooking fries. They tasted fine and were served with a nice spicy mayo. The server did not come to collect my plate, or bring the bill. I went up to the bar to settle my tab. I’d take advantage of the overnight service some night on my way back home from the bar but it’s unlikely i’ll go there again. I do want to try the boozy milkshakes though.

This place is fun, I’ve had three meals here and I would say brekkie is the way to go! Tonight I had a not so great Chicago hot dog. It had so much mustard on it I could’t eat it. The shakes are really good here! The kitchy décor is half the fun of this place, and great late night hours!

I have finally found a replacement diner for Bert’s Diner up the street, which was my to go place for pancakes and closed a few years ago. They had the best pancakes in town but Lucy’s is my new favorite. Their pancakes are light and melt in your mouth and even better than Bert’s. My coffee was topped up several times and the retro décor was classic diner style. The sausage was also better quality than your average breakfast links. The chef had made my pancakes smaller than the regular size, so the waitress only charged me the kid’s price. So nice and appreciated as I have a small appetite and was able to finish the whole thing. Next time, I want to try a classic breakfast, with pancakes instead of toast.

I like Lucy’s hours, 24⁄7. Great for getting breakfast at odd hours. I liked that you could customize your order to your liking. This time, I ordered the egg Benny breakfast, one veggy(avocado, tomato) and one smoked salmon, with pancake on the side. The eggs were soft and runny. The tomato and avocado were fresh. The pancake was fluffy and tasty. The staffs were friendly at early morning hours. Lucy’s is a good place to go for classic breakfast and comfort food. And open 24 hours is even better.
