One of my new favorite places to go! Came here with two friends for breakfast on Sat morning so it was pretty spacious and the noise level was low. It was our first time going there, and the lady explained the very very impressive philosophy of being resourceful and reusing materials to decorate their interior. I love their effort in saving perfectly fine food from going to the landfill while supporting local farmers. Yes, their menu may be a little on the pricey side, but it’s worth it. Their vanilla London Fog is to DIEEE for. It’s sweet, very vanilla-y(they make their own vanilla extract in store) and just such a nice thing to have on a rainy day. I believe they also have knitting needles and chalk you can entertain yourself with if it gets busy. Definitely will be back.

The lupiibox is a weekly delivery of fruits, vegetables, soup and preserve(jam, jelly, or marmalade) to your door. At lupii café, we are able to source a wide range of fruit and vegetable seconds. Seconds are fruits and vegetables that are destined for the landfill because they may have a bruise, a blemish, be non-standard size/shape, or just past their expiry date, but are all totally safe, healthy and delicious to eat. At lupii café we strive for Zero waste and one of the ways in which we address this is by targetting food waste. Up to 40% of all food that is produced is thrown away and so much of it it perfectly good to eat. I used to get a fresh produce box a few years ago but I stopped the box due to economics and the fact that it was way too much produce to handle in a week. One of my new year’s resolutions was to eat more fruits and veggies and to create more dishes out of random items each week that were given to me. I used this as a positive food challenge. Kind of like one of those Food Network game shows in which you’re given ingredients and you have 30 minutes to make something sweet and savory out of a certain fruit or veggie. The box is super cheap each week. I love the random surprise of it. Each Wednesday it feels like my Birthday when I get my box. To be honest I prefer my produce very ripe. When I used to get home delivery from the large delivery chains of aesthetically perfect produce I would have to wait for it to get to that point of taste maturity which was a waste of time and money and served no environmental or ethical purpose. With the lupiibox it’s already at that stage I prefer. This makes me excited to start creating dishes sooner rather than later.

Lupii is the most amazing café ever! They make you feel welcomed, they don’t rush you out the door when you’re finish, and to top it all off they’re zero waste! I love that they ethically source their coffee and tea unlike most cafes. And they make sure that they buy their produce local. Definitely my new hang out

I find the menu quite pricey here, $ 13 for salad and coffee. The coffee was not splendid for the price. The food was acceptable. The furniture is recycled, which is great; but I have seen much better looking recycled furniture than these. The floor is horrid, lumpy and appears very unappealing. When it is paired with the foggy old glass door and the white gate, I thought I was in jail for a brief moment. The place does not appear to be neat and tidy. The price doesn’t match with the atmosphere. I am not a vegan or vegetarian, but I do not mind vegetarian food. At the same time, I would appreciate if the staff would not continue to boast about their cause while I am desperately in need of a coffee. Let me make it clear, the reason I am in a coffee shop is because I want some coffee. After the long conversation, the staff actually forgot about my food and said«thank you, goodbye» to me when I approached and wanted to ask for my food. I waited for 25 minutes. They use hankies instead of napkins, which is nice, but sometimes I find them still a little damp to the touch. I never visited the washroom and I do not intend to. I hope they use toilet paper.

The second closest coffee shop to my house but my first choice now. This café is pleasing to my granola heart with zero waste and funky old dishes. Warm enough to take your coat off and stay a while, this coffee shop offers everything that chain restaurants lack: personal touch, support of local artists and healthy food!

Came upon this place and decided to try it out while waiting for take out at the restaurant next door. Inside was pretty grungy. The staff weren’t too welcoming — I actually felt out of place. They charge $ 2 extra for a to go jar. Ordered the red smoothie, which had a strong cinnamon taste and was quite watery. The wait seemed pretty long considering we were the only ones ordering. Nothing special and don’t have a desire to return. As much as I admire the idea of zero waste, the menu was overpriced and my first impression was not good.

Stopped by Lupii for the first time today and were thoroughly impressed. We were greeted kindly and had a nice chat with the owner. The coffee was good and the homemade pumpkin cookies were delicious. More than anything, we loved seeing all they do for the local community.

This is a really cute place! I live in the area and was quite happy to find something close by! I’m not a vegetarian or anything so honestly the menu didn’t completely appeal to me but I wanted to try something so badly and went for the vegetable soup and iced mocha. The soup was very vegetable-ly and was a decent size(kid’s size). I don’t remember how much it was but with the mocha it was under $ 7 so not bad– soup was homemade. The iced mocha was delish! They use east van roasters dark chocolate –yum! I asked for it to be a bit sweetened because the lady said that there was no sugar and only the chocolate but if you’re someone like me who orders half sweet at Starbucks, you’ll be good with the regular mocha. It got a bit too sweet at the end. There were only one or two other people there when I was in. It might be busier on other days than Monday at 5pm. This will be my new to go study place! I think they have WiFi but you probably have to ask for the password. The idea of no waste is nice, adds a bit to your to go order but hey no waste and you can reuse it! Some lady didn’t want to pay $ 2 more for her to go coffee though and left but hopefully this place will stay. Oh yeah and service was good.

This café is unique and seems cool. When I went in, the owner gave me the rundown of the place but I was put off when she said that the food comes from the landfill. That doesn’t sound appetizing to me. I had a cappuccino. It was fine.

Champlain Heights is an area of Vancouver filled with co-operative housing. As such, there is a great sense of community in this neighbourhood. Lupii café embodies this sense of community nicely. This café prides itself on being a zero waste business, offering local products, as well as vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. Every aspect of this place has a story behind it, right down to the furniture. All the food served is made by the staff, so they can tell you exactly what is in your snack. The space is welcoming and the staff are friendly which creates a very open atmosphere. This is one of the few places in Vancouver where people will just start talking to you when you walk in, staff and patrons alike, a rarity for Vancouver in general. Another charm to Lupii is that they use all reusable cups, be it mugs or mason jars. It makes for a nice homey touch and for less waste. It is a bit on the pricey side, my medium latte cost $ 4.72 however it was worth it. The coffee was strong and I had several dairy and non-dairy choices for said latte. I went with the coconut flavoured almond milk and wasn’t disappointed.
