Decided to drop by the place before an evening shift a work. It’s been years since I’ve visited The Noodle Box and back when I was a kid, I remembered my experience as a kid at the Kits location very fondly. However, my experience today fell short. I ordered their top choice, the Indonesian-fusion spicey peanut noodles. The flavours was very flat and didn’t really go much past the peanut sauce, but the crushed peanuts did add decent texture to the dish. You were also able to select a protein with the carbs. I was recommended the free range chicken breast. Trusting my server, the chicken also didn’t really cut it for me. It wasn’t marinated nor was it prepared nicely to soak up the sauces. I ended getting a huge chunk of plain chicken breast at the bottom of my bowl. I mean, its fine, but execution definitely needs to be improved here. I’d give it another shot next time if I’m in the area and probably pick a different protein to go with my meal.

The worst service in my entire restaurant experience ! — slow service — I came in 1st and it’s just me, for 1 person — but the customer after me got their food first, how’s that even possible — lady server is unpleasant, not helpful at all — Ordered peanut Noodle Box, not very keen on taste with coconut + peanut sauce + ginger — Too fusion

i used to eat the spicy peanut noodles with chicken regularly and it was so good! I’ve had the pad thai and it was so good. i’ve tried other specials now and then — the Bombay Mac & Cheese was so yummy. you may notice i say ‘used to’ and ‘was.’ i’ve not gone there for about a year now since they reduced the size of their takeout containers. i have serious doubts that the portion size is the same as the eat-in portions. no-where near what i see people get inside the restaurant. and the final straw for me was a takeout order of the Bombay Mac & Cheese. the guy ahead of me ordered it, too, and when i opened it up at home the contents were filled up to about 1 inch below the lid — it’s always, always been full. i think the cook accidently shorted our orders. services is perfunctory — they do what they are supposed to do but i get the feeling they could care less if i was there. i would try again if i was eating in as the food i had was really tasty but overall i’m not a fan.

It’s late in the afternoon and there are lines at both ramen places in the vicinity that I walked to, so I’d thought I’d try Noodlebox. First time here and also the first I’m writing my little review on a place whilst I’m having my meal. Walking in. the space has lovely high ceilings and very dimly lit. Almost strange for a noodle house? The friendly lass at the till recommended the spicy peanut noodles over the kung pao, so here we are: the bowl is relatively well presented, average serving size given the price, but … I’m starving and I’m thinking it’s not very good. It’s a decent looking bowl of noodles on first glance, but for a touch over $ 13(taxes in), I’d prefer. no, expect(!) that the components accompanying the noodles in my bowl don’t resemble protein and vegetable off cuts/scrap bits. Flavour wise it’s all just a bowl of SALTY. I was really hungry when I walked in — and it’s still not a good bowl of food, that says something. No, this girl sadly prefers to not repeat having a bowl of overly salty noodles with vege and protein scraps. I cooked better food when I was in high school. Yikes! I won’t be returning.

Having been a fan of Noodle Box and being a frequent patron over years, I moved, and just recently returned to the city. Obviously, I went straight to Noodle Box. Wow what a f**king letdown. The quality has gone down the drain. It used to be packed full of flavor, now it’s just bland, in exciting and boring. So heartbreaking.

Nothing particularly bad about Noodlebox, but I can’t really recommend it, either. The noodles are soupy-wet, too-aggressively seasoned, and fourteen dollars. If you’re looking for something a little bit less willing to messily jump down your throat and mount a full frontal assault on your senses, try Fresh Bowl.

We popped in to get a quick take away on a rainy Saturday night. The menu is pretty limited for an Asian restaurant, but walking in it didn’t appear to be your typical Asian take away. It had a modern vibe and industrial décor. I ordered the Black Bean and Garlic stir-fry. While waiting for my order, I noticed they were playing some pretty good music, and after bopping away in my seat for a bit realised that they had a DJ– yes the Noodlebox had a DJ on Saturday night! I was pretty impressed. Even though I didn’t eat in it was a pretty cool, happening vibe to sit and wait. The food was a letdown. Yeah, it was fine– noodles, beef, sauce, but pretty average and lacked any real flavour and the noodles were undercooked. Can’t say I’m in a hurry to eat here again, I’ve had worse, but I’ve certainly also had better.

Great Veggie Phở, pretty slow service. Came here with a friend, they didnt have half the menu items and they took forever to bring anything out… including the check!

I have tried them twice, and both times I specifically asked if it was possible to have a mild dish which they said of course! But, I was given a super spicy dish which i could not handle! Their ingredients seemed fresh and their eat-in portions are huge but only recommended if you are a spicy food lover!

Nice atmosphere. A little expensive for what it is. I had the pad thai chicken and it was delicious. Tasty and fulfilling. Big portion and quick service… great for take out.

I’ve eaten here 3 – 4 times now. I’m still making my way through the menu. The spicy peanut is tasty and the kung pao is very saucy and pretty good too. It’s pretty much what you expect: reasonably fast, consistent but not going to wow you. I wouldn’t take your first date here for example but a good spot to grab lunch.

An outstanding noodle concept, combining a variety of noodles with Thai and Indian fusion to attack the palate. The spicy peanut is their flagship dish, but I’ve tried a number of items and they are always consistent in flavor. The orange cashew curry with chicken really works well with fresh garnish like cilantro and sprouts, which I think is the key to their success, local fresh ingredients. Some of the thicker noodles pair nicely with stir fry beef so feel free to get creative and modify the levels of spice to get your dish perfect. Also a decent selection of beers on tap, along with outdoor seating the perfect afternoon stop!

The green curry vegetables were amazingly delicious! And the spiciness of the dish was perfect I chose mild. You can choose how spicy you would like it I think for this plate mild is perfect. The décor is hip and feels like a gas town restaurant and again that’s why I love gastown… The only reason I’m giving this restaurant 4 stars is because of the price I don’t think this plate is worth $ 12.50 I mean it’s really delicious ! But for what it is I think a price around 7 – 9 would make more sense! Other than that I would come back…

The food is what I would have expected coming to NoodleBox; it was saucy & of course spicy. The lime was dried out though. What I most enjoyed at this location was their music selection. 90s hip hop that included MethodMan Feat. Mary J Bleige, Biggie, Nas feat. Lauryn Hill, Pharcyde & more. It totally took me back to some real hip hop. On the flip side, it didn’t look busy in here at all however the order took almost 15 minutes. Like really? On top of that, I found it rather chilly in there. It’s very spacious with very high ceiling & floor to ceiling glass with both doors propped open in the middle of winter. I know it must get hot in the kitchen but you know what they say if you can’t handle the heat!?! Overall not bad! Good location, clean, friendly staff and good vibes.

This is a great location. Just off Robson street on Homer, it’s spacious and has a great vibe(especially later in the evening as it gets quieter). The food is good and portions plentiful. I don’t think anyone would suggest that this is super authentic south Asian cuisine but it’s certainly tasty without dripping in fats or oils. The spice levels are refreshingly hot. I’m a spice fan, and most places tailor ‘spicy’ to fans of mild food. I’ve had the top heat at Noidle Box and was chasing a Johnny Cash Coyote around my head in a chilli trip. It is slightly over priced. Most dishes will set you back $ 14-$ 18 after tax and tip when you may have been expecting something closer to $ 12. File under satisfying.

A spacious and trendy location offering a bit loud music and a nice set type menu. Admittedly I have to wonder why this location doesn’t use the black nitrile gloves their kits food staff uses, however the restaurant vibe is very different between the two locations. I thought the fireplace imagery on the tv was a nice touch. I have to admit the to go packaging gave me the feeling my free two entrees were cheaper out upon however once I got home and opened them I was surprised to see just how much food was hidden inside kinda like the dr who phone booth that exceeds time and space. Loved the tastes and service. Will definitely return. Yay

Location-wise, it’s off the main road, which could be a good or bad thing. Probably the largest, in terms of width, of its stores. I usually order their signature, spicy peanut, as it’s saucy and comes in their cool box takeout. As long as you don’t have the expectations that they’re not trying to be authentic, you’ll be fine. Some ppl complain about bastardizing this but itself, it’s a good hearty meal. And their deep fried banana with caramel sauce is highly recommended. Noodle Box on Main, and their newest one in Gastown, are the more preferred locations.

By far, the worst Asian noodle dish I have ever had. I ordered Spicy Peanut Noodle Box with Extra Protein for take out with Medium Spice Level. The portion was full of brocoli stem with way too watery peanut sauce and not too mention it’s bland. HORRIBLE! I don’t see any extra protein from what I asked and surely enough they charged me for it(added $ 3.41). Sadly, I have to drained the noodle out to my own plate. I feel like I’m eating a bowl of peanut soup instead of Stir fry spicy peanut noodle. Holy Moly. The service is quick, perhaps that quick until my ordered in swimming watery tasteless peanut sauce. I urge the management to reevaluate the kitchen asap. Very disappointed. I would suggest take your money and get a slice of pizza on your cheating carb day, trust me. This was my second try of the place and last. Don’t compromise in life and allow yourself to eat tasteless lifeless food, South Asian Noodle in particularly. You are way too sexy for this!!! Lol.
