I found myself here waiting for my carpool to pick me up and with some time to kill. I knew my guy at home would be spoiled rotten if I were to surprise him with a smoked meat sandwich, so I indulged him. Now, I gave up red meat over a year ago and have lost almost all desire for the stuff, but holy crap this sandwich looked beautiful. So beautiful in fact that I couldn’t help but have a bite. I could say that this was one of the best(if not THE best) smoked meat I’ve tried. Made in house, too! I ordered it with a mix of hot and deli mustard. It was spicy as all Hell, and just perfect. The only downside? $ 12 for a small.

Awesome sandwiches! Had the Smoked Meat on Rye and a Beef Salami on Rye. Great friendly service. Great pickles as well!

Walked in to a friendly face which we presumed was the owner he could tell we were new and needed some guidance on picking a delicious hangover meal.(My hubby and I were at a wedding last night, I needed two things in my life meat and bread). I settled on a smoked meat sandwich which was stacked a good 2.5 inches thick, it was warm and comforting. I normally opt for spicy items their selection of mustards had me leaning in my usual way but I stuck to my guns and let the awesome deli guy concoct perfection. My hubby went with the pastrami and of course when your married and your the wife what’s yours is mine and what’s mine is mine. It’s was doctored up with spicy mustard the pastrami was sliced thinly and stacked thick served along side a juicy pickle and crispy fries. Washed down with a tasty Dr. Browns cream soda Great energy and a fun crowd to sit amongst. Adding this to our list of secret stops for a great meal.(My hangover is on its way to redemption!)

We came for kosher Montréal style smoked meat. It’s far from downtown in a suburb type neighborhood. The people were nice and tried very hard to please but sorry to say it was far from Montréal flavor. Still better than any pastrami.

Seattle is one of the greatest cities and we truly love the overall quality of life it offers, however it is lacking in what we consider as one major aspect… an authentic Kosher deli where you can get everything from tasty deli sandwiches to jumbo hot dogs and amazing hamburgers with all the fixings. As such, we regularly make the fun trek up to BC to enjoy some time away as well as the great Omnitsky’s Kosher Deli(and mart). We love it and our kids all love it! Now my hamburger has arrived and I am hungry!

* Oy veys meer! * Four elderly Jewish ladies are sitting around the table in Vancouver’s only Kosher deli. The 1st one sighs, «Oy…» The 2nd one agrees, sighs, and says, «Oy vey!» The 3rd one nods, sighs even louder, and says, «Oy veys meer!» The 4th one says, «Enough vit dis talking about our kids, let’s eat.» OK, so that didn’t happen. Of course it didn’t. Vancouver doesn’t really have a classic Jewish immigrant type of spot for Kosher deli. And yes, I say that even after eating here. When Omnitsky opened up a deli in this location I was pretty excited to try it out — with the hope for some real Jewish deli. Entering instead of finding a grumpy guy behind the counter speaking with a heavy eastern European accent, or a disinterested waitress with a heavy Bronx or Lower East Side accent, there were a bunch of high school age looking kids like you’d expect at a suburban fast food outlet with strong Canadian accents. Ah, but the menu had some promising things on it. I ordered the smoked meat sandwich combo($ 17.95 with fries and a drink included). When the kid behind the counter asked me if I wanted lettuce, tomato, and mayo on it I cringed, but simply said, «No thank you — just mustard.» The food arrived, and it was disappointing. The meat was lukewarm as if they tried to heat it up, but didn’t finish the job. It was also really dry. I’ve always been a fan of thicker hand-sliced smoked meat — but that is a personal preference — this was not that. The bread also didn’t have the typical rye crust you’d expect at a deli. The pickle wasn’t a full sour. Bah. Fries were uneventful, but sadly probably the best thing on the plate. Photo: Alas, I left thinking, «Oy veys meer! Vee still need a gut deli hier.»

$ 12 for a sandwich, but it’s a fair price once you get it infront if you and take your first ginormous bite! The meat, well-cured, well-flavoured. We got the regular rye bread, fresh and soft. We both got the hot mustard and it is hot baby! Loved it! Coleslaw is a sweet slaw but with a little salt and pepper it was fantastic. We will definitely be back when we’re in the area.

Nice, clean, classic vibe, and the sandwiches are excellent. I think that they are even better now than they were at their previous location.

Nice touch with the takeout club sandwich, served with a good size pickle. Good chunks of chicken, and fresh veggies, great house spread. easy repeat again.

Contrary to other opinions, the sandwiches(smoked meat and pastrami) that we had today were the worst I have encountered anywhere and were not in the slightest bit«large». This meat is supposed to be kept in a steamer and kept moist; the owners need a visit to Montréal ASAP. The meat was dry and the service surly. The wait staff who took our order were pleasant but made it feel like a fast food joint. A real Jewish deli it ain’t! Will not be going back for seconds.

The sign says they’re open… Only open for the sale of their packaged deli fridge and frozen goods. No real deli service; the sit-in portion of the deli(I’m guessing they may have a dine-in service.) isn’t even ready… :(
