I have a rather complex relationship with my hair. And in my 3.5 years in Vancouver, I’ve gone to 7 different establishments. However, I’ve been going to Pony for over a year now, and Trina is fantastic. She’s fun to chat with, open and honest with opinions, and a genius with a pair of scissors in her hand. Thank you Pony!

All Hail Kristy. Scissor goddess of perfect hair. I woke up this morning — after having fallen asleep on the couch with wet, damp hair — with the most amazingly perfect head of rock-star/model locks. This NEVER happens to me. There was volume, perfectly tousled layers, and face framing waves… it’s witchcraft I tell you. Oh and did I mention all the staff here are so sweet and lovely you’d think they were made of ice cream sandwiches(actually, I know for a fact this is partially true as I witnessed a delivery of half a dozen or so of them while in the chair). Love. Love. Love.

I love this salon. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. I have never gotten a bad hair cut. I love the personal touch of offering coffee, tea, water etc. makes for a relaxing time at the salon.

I was so impressed with this wonderful salon tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Gastown. A quiet oasis filled with rocking 90s beats and smiling faces, I was immediately made to feel beautiful and welcome on my inaugural visit. As usual, I put my hair in the hands of my stylist, in this case, lovely Trina. I was offered a choice of red or white wine(and my request for a second glass was met with«you can have as much as you’d like as long you’re not driving»). My cut included a lengthy consultation, shampoo and scalp massage, styling, highlights and a semi-permanent base colour, back to the sink for shampoo and scalp massage followed by more styling. Trina was a delight to speak with and really seems passionate about hair and making each client happy. I was very pleased with my red highlights and edgy short cut and how to style at home to create the same effect. I was also not made to full embarrassed or ashamed when I explained that I was on a budget and needed to know the full cost before Trina went ahead with her plan — no surprises there. To sum it up, Pony is a unique and unpretentious salon that I am keen to return to. Highly recommended.
