Older crowd here. Everyone is dressed up. Might be a wait to get in, but right when I got there a huge group left and I got in right away. Place is not inside the hotel. Big space. Service is a little slow because there was only one server covering a lot of tables. Had the short rib bicadillo, which was ok. A little too much bread and not enough meat. Ordered the Peraphony, which was good. Lots of drinks to choose from here. Overall, this place is good. Too space for large groups too.

Racists bouncers didn’t let us in, due to being«over-capacity,» yet allowed 10 different parties bump ahead of us. When we finally went in, the drinks were not up to par with what we thought it would be. Drinks were watered down and bitter. We had to send a couple of them back to adjust the taste and it was still not what we expected. There are better places in Vancouver to get great cocktails with better ambiance and service.

Vancouver’s hidden gem. Loved it. Great live music and atmosphere. Décor is amazing. This will become my regular hang out place. Highly recommend

The only thing that saved this place was the fact that in a town with no live music to be found, they do. Other than that it was no more special than any other club, lounge or bar on the Granville strip on a Saturday night. Not really thinking ahead a not making a reservation, after all we were only a party of two, there was a line which tells me this is a «place to been seen» and I wanted a spot not to be seen as the places to been seen in Vancouver are not much look at. Generic décor. Are the cheaply outfitted flapper girls really necessary? It was kitschy, uninspired and they try to hard with really over priced drinks. If I’m going to pay that much, I’ll find a true underground joint and pay for quality booze and amazing service. Service(if you want to call it that) was terrible. Way to overpriced for the«experience» The band however saved my night and they were pretty damn good and really nice guys to boot. Oh yea, the doormen were super friendly too.

Fun place. Great place to go out with friends or meet some new people. First round of drinks were light yet the bartender made up for it on the second round.

I feel like I can stay here for so long I wouldn’t know if it’s daytime or nighttime outside. Prohibition takes you to a whole new world. It was Friday night and it was here were I celebrated my birthday with my girl friends. I was expecting it to be busy but it was a sunny day so I guess people would rather stay out in the sun rather than stay indoor and drink. Nevertheless we had a great time. I would have given this five stars except for the service. It was a bit off. There aren’t that many guests that night so I was expecting a little more attention. We had to wave our server a few times to order more appetizers and drinks. The ambience is lovely. Low lights and candles on each table which makes the place romantic and cozy. Soft jazz background music which allows you to actually make conversation without shouting to one another. Pillows on the couch makes it comfortable for your back and behind. The appetizers are not bad. The usually appies you would get from other bars and lounges. We had pizza, truffle fries, charcuterie board with cheese, prosciutto, crostini, marmalade and pickles. The cocktail prawns with avocado and aioli sauce was amazing. The prawns were plump and fresh and sweet. This was my favourite of all the appetizers we ordered. The cocktail drinks are exceptional in my opinion. I ordered the Hotel Georgia Cocktail circa 1940. It was delicious. Can I use the word delicious for drinks?! I ordered a second drink but I was already in la la land so I can’t remember what it’s called. Overall the experience was fantastic. I would definitely go back to try the other cocktails and hope that I can remember what it’s called next time.

This place was so badass! A little hard to find, me and a friend ended up passing it at first and then we came back to the cross streets and stood there trying to find it and a gentleman opened the door(a door with no signs, like a secret door which made it even cooler!) and greeted us in, checked our I. D’s and lead us downstairs to the bar. Inside, the ambiance was amazing with prohibition type décor and attire worn by the staff and bartenders! Live music and a truly badass bartender! I highly recommend this place to anyone in town and anyone who loves the prohibition era vibe!

This is a fantastic bar at the Rosewood Hotel in Vancouver. The drink selections are unique and the bartenders literally taste every drink as they are made so they are all perfect. The scotch selections are also deep. Some a bit pricey but if on an expense account, makes it great for sampling. The halibut cheeks tempura were delicious as was the charcuterie platter. Wish I had discovered it earlier in my trip.

Simply amazing hotel with a staff that also deserves 5 stars. Elegant, warm, discreet with the best restaurant in town. No need to ramble on about the Rosewood as it sets the bar.

You want a drink here. Went for a pre dinner drink. If you are going post dinner make sure you have a reservation for a seat otherwise come early or be prepared to stand. We had the daily punch and Hotel Georgia Cocktail based off of a recommendation. Both did not disappoint. They were so yummy and I wish we had come earlier to have more drinks! The ambiance was cosy and cool and the staff was attentive and helpful. Loved it!

I wish I could give half stars, because in my book this place would probably be 4.5. The vibe they are giving off is very«modern speakeasy», hence the name. It’s underneath the Hotel Georgia, and you have to pay close attention because you’ll walk right by it. Outside the front door is a green light and a projected moving sign on the ground that says«prohibition». It’s not really a place you just stumble upon, you have to know about it beforehand. I had the Hotel Georgia cocktail(I think that’s what it was called) and my husband had a beer. Unfortunately they were out of the best ones, but I can’t really hold that against them. We received a complimentary dip tray with bread and sesame poppy seed crackers, so that was nice. We also ordered the pizza squares, which were really delicious. We ordered the chicken wings as well and honestly I wasn’t a big fan. They were really tender but heavily breaded which made them kind of hard to eat. You just don’t know where to bite in because the breeding disguises the shape of the wing so you wind up biting bones and such. Our bartender and the rest of the bartenders were really nice and quite attentive to us and the rest of the guests at the bar. We will return when we visit Vancouver again.

We arrived at 7pm to find the bar closed for a private function until 9pm. We returned around 10:30. We were welcomed right away and had a choice between the bar and a table. We went with the bar. There is a large selection of cocktails to chose from including«the absinthe experience». My choice was«the malahat» a rum drink. My first pick was actually«persephony» but there were unable to make it as an ingredient was not stocked. Next time I return I have something to order. Plus Id like to try their nightly punch. The bartenders are very knowledge! Regardless if you’re a seasoned drinker or someone who only likes a few things, you are in good hands here. The like the dark décor and theme. The live entertainment was a nice addition, on the night we were there it was«malleus trio» The washrooms are something else! Total luxury. We enjoyed looking at the old photos of Vancouver and stars that we assumed had visited the hotel. As far as the prices go, I think they are actually fair considering what you get. I’ve been to a few restaurants whom charge more for their cocktails. I will happily return again.

I really enjoyed the ambience of this bar. The lighting is dark, but the bar is lit well. They also have live soothing yet peppy music, which adds to the congenial environment. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I also thought the service was quite good. There could have been a bit more maintenance, but overall I was satisfied with my experience. As for drinks, there is a lot to choose from on the menu. I was happy to get a drink chosen by the bartender after I mentioned my fondness of chartreuse. I loved the drink he chose. I also appreciated the complimentary almonds and pretzel sticks that come with your patronage. I would like to return and try some more of their cocktails. I also noticed they have a good variety of whisky to choose from. It is more of an upscale lounge, but I’m happy to note that it doesn’t feel exclusive. A sweet bar in an iconic Vancouver landmark– the Georgia Hotel.

I came with some colleagues last week after we grabbed a bite to eat since we were all in the mood for a couple of drinks and since everyone was already in their suits, prohibition came to mind. It was very cool walking down the stairs to the basement and stepping back in time. It was very dark and swanky with a 1920s feel. Men in suits were scattered around and that gave off an upscale vibe. The drinks were good, albeit pricey at $ 17 a pop, but they were very boozey and once in a while, it’s definitely worth the splurge. There were also some nibbles on the table which were nice and went along well with the drinks. This is a great place to take out of town guests or for a fancy night out on the town.

So I finally got to go and check this place out. Surprisingly there was food you could order. Not a huge menu but enough. I ordered three drinks and they were pretty good and strong! I wasn’t expecting that. I’m used to the watered down booze that Vancouverites can fall victim to at certain places. The ambiance was very dark… dark green in particular. Very cool vibe that goes with the 20s prohibition theme. I ordered the«punch» which was very unique. Another cranberry drink with cinnamon and gin. Very unique and super strong. You could barely see the cranberry juice. Lastly I had a mojito which was made to perfection! The drink came with a few pretzels and some really tasty almonds. I wI’ll definetly be back to try more drinks on the menu. Oh and my waitress was awesome!

A beautiful venue for you and an out-of-town-sales-team-visitor-with-an-expense-account. It has the feel of a fancy hotel lobby rather than a true cozy speakeasy lounge. Otherwise, too expensive for no other reason than the fact the people are willing to pay this much for drinks and snacks.

Finally checked out this place on Sat night. Love it! Gorgeous lounge with a theme that obviously suits my style. The décor wasn’t very 1920’s in my opinion, it had more of a sexy modern vibe. But really nice nonetheless. They have a great cocktail menu with lots vintage style drinks, and a small food menu with mostly appetizers to choose from. We got a cheese plate, which was the perfect snack to go with our cocktails. I also loved the live music, and the fact that most of the crowd was pretty dressed up. Being here brought back good memories of the Chameleon. I’ll definitely be back!

I think I found my new favourite cocktail lounge!!! Came here last weekend and was instantly treated royally upon arrival(much to our surprise and enjoyment!!). The bouncer released the ropes and a server told us she has a table for two ready for us. What did we do to deserve this VIP service?! She led us downstairs to the basement and into the back room where it was lined with comfy couches, drum table tops and mirrored walls. The décor is dark, upscale and matched the dimly lit mysterious space. The place seemed to be packed with 30’s+, classy but not pretentious and equipped with a FANTASTICDJ that night(little bit of deep house/electro-indie/trip hop) — I kept interrupting the convo to comment on how much I loved the song that was currently playing. Great selection of cocktails. We tried the Blood & Sand(Dewar’s blended Scotch, Cherry Heering, Cinzano Rosso, fresh orange) — stiff and bitter. Penicillin(Dewar’s blended Scotch, lemon, ginger, honey, Ardbeg Supernova aroma) — refreshing and light. Service was superb. We were well-taken care of right from the get-go with the host, to our cocktail server to the security near the communal washrooms asking if my bathroom experience was on par, it certainly was! 100% will come back! Great live music, demographic, service and cocktails.

Great little speakeasy hidden on the side of Hotel Georgia. We came here twice for a nightcap during our stay at the Metropolitan next door. Friday night we were there earlier in the evening and it was a very quiet and intimate, with a great lounge band, an attentive waiter, and really well crafted cocktails. Saturday night we came back a little later in the evening at it was definitely more of a scene. The bar was crowded, there was a great DJ, they had pared down the cocktail menu to less complex choices and it was a fun night out. I’m glad someone tipped me off to this place because I probably never would have noticed it.
