I was lured to this restaurant by a Social Shopper coupon. Boy, was that ever a mistake. We tried to call in to make a reservation for a month and a half, but every time we put through to the voicemail advising us that they only open Fridays and Saturdays and to call in during business hours. Leaving a message proves fruitless, they will not call you back, and they do not pick up ever during business hours. As the coupon is approaching the expiry date, we decided just to go in during business hours. They refused to seat us as they claim it was fully booked and they do not prepare extra food as it is reservation only. Well, if they had picked up their damn phone or reply to their messages, maybe we wouldn’t have come in person. As we were about to leave and ask for a refund with Social Shopper, the manager decide there was extra food, so we could sit down. The manager ask if we ever left a voicemail as they always reply. We gave them our names and call logs of when we called, and he smiled saying he remembered our names, but as the reservations were full, he has never called us back. WTF? Great business motto. The food was mediocre as expected. The coupon was for a $ 73 value meat and cheese platter and a warm brie dish with wine. All I can say is that the food was so simple and bland, you could reproduce it at home at a much lower cost. It literally felt like they brought it from the fridge and placed it on a plate. There’s nothing special about the taste, selection or even looks. The only pleasant thing I can compliment on was the waitress. There was only one waitress tending to everyone’s needs, but she had a great attitude and smile. The manager did nothing and just stood there and chatted. I guess he is more concerned about the club next door than the restaurant. It should definitely be warning sign when they only open on Fridays and Saturdays. In addition, the restaurant was only 1⁄3 full throughout the night, so I do not understand why the manager would claim that they are fully booked. I will not recommend anyone going to this place. Awful.

I discovered Taste Resto-Lounge through Social Shopper when they advertised a deal that I couldn’t pass up. For a mere $ 29, I was able to get a meat & cheese platter, a share plate(appy) and 4 glasses of wine or beer. What a steal! When we arrived at Taste around 7pm on a Saturday night, it wasn’t very busy yet. The platter consisted of 4 meats and 4 cheeses along with some pickled beets and some toasted baguette slices. It was the perfect amount of food and wine to be shared between 2 of us, but I’m sure it would’ve been a great starter for 4 people as well. The wines were surprisingly good — we chose a white and a red each and both were very enjoyable and paired well with the food. I’d like to go back to try a few other items.
