This place has a great ambiance and amazing service. After a long day exploring the suspension bridge and walking around, my friend and I came here for a quick bite/drink. Since we sat at the bar, the bartender let us sample the wine’s that we were contemplating. We both got a glass of the red wine,(don’t remember what it was called, but it was the first one on the red wine list) and it paired perfectly with the Grilled Flank Steak that our bartender recommended. Not sure if it was the wine talking, but the steak became more and more delicious with every bite. We really wanted to try the Arancini appetizer since it was both bartender’s favorites, but unfortunately they were all out, so we settled for the Panelle, which was surprisingly delicious! Overall, it was a great meal to end our weekend in Vancouver. This is easily one of the coolest wine bar’s I’ve been to, because even though it’s a ‘wine’ bar, they have a pretty impressive list of cocktails and beers, and most importantly, food!

We visited this place when we were in Vancouver. We stopped here on a whim and I was glad we did. It was so cute!!! Great champagne flights and had live music. Their table snacks were also great like their marinated olives. I would come back if I was in Vancouver again.

I really love the cocktails and atmosphere here. I had the take flight special. On Thursdays it offers 3 special in-house cocktails. I’ve also had the chartreuse milkshake. If you are a lover of chartreuse and classic spirits of the prohibition era, this cocktail is a must have. It was so satiating I bought the ingredients myself and attempted to make it at home. However, it was not as stellar as the Uva chartreuse cocktail. Lauren Mote, the primary bartender, has devised some phenomenal drinks. I’m not surprised she was noted as one of Vancouver’s top bartenders. Uva wine bar is a place I continue to return to and ask my dining partner to join me in a pre-show drink or two. An excellent Vancouver cocktail spot that I’m proud of! Thanks, Uva.

Stopped in for lunch on their happy hour menu. Really lovely location, beautiful décor, though the lighting seemed a bit dark for the ambience they are going for. Our waitress was really sweet, and quite knowledgable on their wine and beer selections. She also knew how to pour beer properly! I ordered their Prosciutto san Daniele — a salad comprised of greens, radishes, cherry tomatoes, gala apples and parmesan. Really amazing flavour, but I know how much prosciutto costs at a good deli — the salad amounted to $ 17, which is a bit pricey, given its size. I also noticed they have Jazz in the evenings, which I’m very curious to check out.

I actually love the ambience, the location(which is not in the pits of the Granville Entertainment Strip), and the wine and beer menu are great. However, the prices are just way too much for what you receive. I just can’t advocate for overpriced food.

After a hasty retreat from the Granville Room, my companion had a preference for wine over cocktails that evening, a quick Unilocal search reminded us of Uva that we’d both previously enjoyed. We ended up walking into a lovely, relaxed but bustlingly busy space for after 9pm on a Thursday evening and found ourselves seats at the bar. Our barkeep was lovely, Robert the GM was a gem, two bottles of tasty red, laughs aplenty(with both staff an other patrons) and so many cheerful hours later — it was way past midnight and definitely time to go home. Loved the showtunes break in the music too! Uva Wine & Cocktail Bar: I’d go there again. And again. :) Lovely staff, a nice wine selection and how can you not smile when showtunes come on?

Amazing ambience and class tucked away in a great location. Absolutely impressive cocktail and whisky list. I never get tired of sampling their extensive variety of world class cocktails.

Lauren Mote and her band of merry bar minions rock this bar. I’ve been here for good times and I’ve been here for bad. No matter if I’m laughing or crying, every time I’ve been here it’s been consistently excellent. From the food to the amazing cocktails to the great service, it all just works. There is a reason they are one of the best bars in the city. I love their bruschetta selections and arancini balls. For cocktails, the Gin Gin Donkey is my jam. My fave days are also their bourbon special days — their Whiskey Sour is heaven. Note that they use real egg whites here folks, because really that is the only acceptable way. So put on those big girl panties, grab your lady balls and suck up any salmonella fears in sight — the bourbon should be enough to kill all icky germs.

I Love it! Walking around downtown makes you thirsty for yummy cocktails… Personally I like Old Fashion and then I’ll venture to something sweeter. Today we sat by the window where the breeze was nice and light, our server was very attentive and she also made a fantastic old fashion and by coincidence it was on their special. My partner decided on rum and coke. They had an impressive amount of specialty liquor which I was happy to try. I would definitely be back, possibly tomorrow…

Wow this place is tiny! Anyways on to the review. I unfortunately only came in for a drink so this will be brief. The service was friendly and prompt. I love the ambiance. It is a sexy lounge. It’s really dark which is something I really like. Not the greatest for big crowds. Maybe good for a night out with a friend or two. I definitely plan on going back!

yurmy… but I think its vibe oversells its food. You know, the kind of place that’s more atmosphere than flavour? More style than substance? I don’t know, maybe it’s just cause we went for the sole purpose of getting dollar oysters on Sunday and were told that there were no oysters and it’s making me bitter(oysters are my one true love). However, the cocktail selection is nice, with a huge list of different spirits that they carry as well. The food we ordered wasn’t bad, it just was a tad pricey and wasn’t phenomenal flavourally. Nope that’s not a word, it has a red squiggle but I’m going for it. I’d come back for drinks, and maybe a side of the crispy potatoes to line the stomach(a half-lie I tell myself to allow me to drink more alcohol) The 3 $ breads with a variety of toppings were satisfying for their price and quite tasty, but the country pâté was a little bit disappointing… It felt like I could’ve gone to Costco and cut myself off a bigger chunk for less money.

I have been to wine bars in the States but not like this! It’s attached to the hotel. but doesn’t feel like a hotel. My companion knew about my love for red wines. and we walked there from my hotel. It’s got a nice seating area. we took a table by the window. Ordered about three different red wines… reasonably priced. Impressed they had a decanter for each one. the presentation and service was just stellar. I would come here again for sure. and highly recommend it. Waitresses were very friendly and it seemed like a great scene to hang out.

Thank you @eater Vancouver for recommending this great bar. They had a great happy hour from 2 pm to 6 pm where we tried the arancini and fingerling potatoes. Both cocktails were excellent; I enjoyed there use of Islay single malt scotch in there cocktails. I can’t wait to go back again.

I wish the service here was a smidge better. We sat at the bar and had to send smoke signals to get the bartender’s attention. Which I didn’t understand because we were SITTINGATTHEBAR. I mean he seemed nice enough but he was definitely engaged in some other conversation which meant we waited long and hard for everything. Were the cocktails good? Absolutely. My first one was his choice and he mixed me up something that was phenomenal. My second choice was an Old Fashioned with some local bourbon and it was great. Although he took a while to get to us he made it up. We ordered the mussels to split and they were delicious. Nice morsels of mussels cooked with fresh jalapenos. Oh my gosh just thinking about them is making my mouth water. Yes, they were that good. Although the service was a little slow this was a great place to spend a Friday evening after our flight.

This place tends to cater to slightly older clientele(not really the place to be on a Saturday night), but if you’re just looking to catch up over a few drinks, then it’s not a bad spot. It’s just a few minutes away from Yaletown, so you can easily walk over after dinner. I got a tasting flight and the portions were enormous! Each glass was like a full $ 15 glass of wine in NYC, but the best part was you had three tastings for something like $ 14CAD. Nice little selection of cocktails too.

I give Uva 5-Stars but people should note that there is a bit of a sticker shock when you peruse both the food and drink menu. Specialty Drinks are going to start at $ 12 and work their way up from there. The menu is a tapas style menu and has price points ranging from $ 5 – 10 and up. All of this said the cocktails and tapas are masterfully crafted with high quality ingredients. So sip your fantastic cocktail and nibble at your tapas. If you are looking for classy and laid back — perhaps a great way to start your evening or cap it off give Uva a shot.

Good drinks, good service I was here with a couple of girlfriends last night. I was blown away by the interior design of this place. Very upscale and classy. The wine selection wasn’t huge, but everything was good. The cocktails were out of this world. Many layers of flavor. Really awesome

So last year I raved about the hot chocolate festival and buck a shuck — as soon as I saw they were on Hot Chocolate Fest again this year it was game on. So we drove down from the north shore, found a parking space and plugged our meter for 2 hours. Bring on shucked oysters, bring on hot chocolate, bring on zeppoli! We strolled up to the restaurant and on a lil piece of paper tacked to the window it says«Closed for Special Event.» Super dissapointed, we strolled nextdoor to Cibo to see if they were open or would give us the same deal over at their end… They were just randomly closed. So home we went. $ 5 of parking down the drain. The following Thursday I had a horrible day and my sweet man decided to cheer me up by taking me to Uva for our second attempt. Over we went, thinking for a moment«Hmm.maybe we should check if they’re randomly closed again… Naaah. We’ll be fine.» In goes our $ 5.00 into the meter, and off we stroll to Uva. «Closed for special event.» Again. Insert string of curse words here. I have now spent $ 10.00 in parking to just walk back to my car and leave. In the future, if you’re going to enter a festival like the hot chocolate festival, which is only on for a short period, perhaps you could put on your website«Closed for special event on _____, _____, _____.» So alas, I can’t review the hot chocolate. I can’t review the zeppoli. I can’t review my glass of Falanghina, and I can’t review my damn shucked oysters. I can only review the business hours, and I’m bummed.

I came here upon my arrival to Vancouver because it was close by and had good reviews. The location is pretty close to the Granville Entertainment District, but slightly away from the crowds because it’s a few streets away. When I walked in on a Friday morning just after 1 a.m., I noticed that Uva had a classy, intimate feel to it. The walls are painted black and there is a bright red light illuminating the ceiling. We were greeted by a hostess who asked where we wanted to sit, at which point we decided to choose a small table by the window even though the bar looked appealing as well. Even though it says it’s a wine bar, they also have a pretty extensive cocktail list and also sell cider and beer. I wasn’t in the mood for wine and none of the cocktails sounded particularly fruity(which I like), so I decided to order a local dry cider called Lonetree. It was served to me in a glass with ice and the can was also brought along with it. The can was silver and had a beautiful design of a tree on it. I really enjoyed my cider and made a mental note to remember Lonetree in case I came across it again. I would recommend this place if you are looking for a quiet and intimate spot to get a drink.
