The food and the service are not worth the price. The scallops were salty and overcooked. The lobster was also overcooked. Regarding the service, I sat at the bar for 5 mins without service when it was a small place. The server was also the bartender, who was just on the other side of the bar from me and did not even say hi. I was planning to leave and then a male server came to me. When I finished eating, the white hair female server tried to make a joke about my clear plate but it wasn’t funny. I was surprised that they set up the tips on the interac machine as 15%, 17%, and 20%. They really should say thank you when I gave them 17% tips, or any tips because it’s a nice hotel. I won’t return because there are better places in terms of food and service at that price level in Vancouver. I emailed to the restaurant and I got a reply from a Chinese woman, who has the title of the Food and Beverage Manager as indicated in the email. I was surprised because the Food and Beverage Manager who responded to the reviews with the photo on Unilocal was a man, but that was about a year ago. Did they change the manager or was the guy still working there?

I typically do not eat at a hotel’s restaurant for fear of being disappointed. Which was the case at Hidden. We had breakfast one morning at the hotel’s restaurant during our week long stay. There are a few options to choose from. They have a breakfast buffet and continental breakfast as well as other menu options. I selected the lemon ricotta blueberry pancakes and my bf had a regular breakfast with eggs, hash browns and sausage. The food was okay, I just expected more — not quantity(which wasn’t much) but overall quality for the price. I make better pancakes at home, in fact I made some this morning :) With all the nearby options to choose from there’s no need to eat at a hotel. The female server was very friendly and attentive, her service was great. She quickly offered us some orange juice or coffee. I felt her approach could be taken as offering juice/coffee as a courtesy. I don’t believe she was intentionally trying to trick or overcharge patrons but she was walking around with a pitcher of orange juice as if it was free and not $ 4 a(small) glass.

We came here for Dine Out Vancouver 2015 after a show at the convention centre. I was worried we wouldn’t be dressy enough, but the place, while very nice, doesn’t seem stuffy, and no one seemed bothered by my husband’s jeans! We had the same thing(pumpkin tart, proscutto wrapped chicken, and chocolate dessert). The tart was AMAZING, as was the dessert, although I found the chicken really salty. I would definitely consider coming here again if I’m in the neighborhood! One thing to note — when we were there our server was also bartending, so service was a bit slow, but I think that’s also part of the ambiance they are trying to create.

One of the reasons I chose this restaurant was the price savings(~$ 50 vs $ 28 for Dine Out) and so I started with the Pumpkin Tart. This was a trio of pastries with diced pumpkin, cherry tomatoes, and goat cheese on top. I enjoyed the strong goat cheese with the sweet pumpkin. It was much better than my expectation of a pumpkin paste on a croissant. Next I split a Papardelle Puttanesca and Prosciutto Wrapped Chicken Breast dish with my dinner neighbour. The chicken looked pretty cool; I’ve never seen it arranged as so(seen way below). Having the pickled peppers and tomato neatly stacked was also a pretty sight. The dish was overall a little cold for my liking but the presentation was really good. The Papardelle Puttanesca though, this was a filling dish. The tomato sauce has a sour twist to it and there are small capers scattered around the noodles so it’s not too plain. The noodles were pretty chewy which is my preference and was a fine entrée. Finally for dessert I had the Chocolate Mousse. This came arranged with the mousse on top and a crispy crumble layer on the bottom. The bottom layer was a little dry for me but thankfully the mousse was very moist and easy to swallow. The chocolate wafer was a nice garnish to the dish.

A pretty cozy and relaxed place for a quiet evening for a light meal and or drinks with friends. However, I believe that the food served is too expensive for what they’re worth. I had pakoras and a beer on my first visit. The beer, Peroni, an import, at other fine restaurants is much cheaper than what they were here. The pakoras were served cold and not in its traditional form and also overpriced than at other restaurants that also serve the same dish. Despite its shortcomings, I’d come here again just for a drink and the nice quiet atmosphere where I could talk with my friends comfortably without loud music blaring out like at the other busier lounges in Vancouver.

I have just came back from Hong Kong a while ago, and was looking for nice bars in Vancouver that could compare to HK(with the ambiance and city view and whatnot). I came across this place while googling and Unilocaling, and thought it was worth a try. I came during winter time though, so I did not get to see their outdoor patio. It’s in the second floor of Westin, very hidden unless you actually catch their logo on the building. It’s a very cozy lounge and service was great! I had a very friendly Australian staff who gave me and my friend great recommendations. We had the lobster poutine as suggested by many other reviews. Our server suggested we had the fries cut in half(1 inch I think?) instead of the regular size ones. I’ve also had the regular size ones the second time and I gota say the smaller fries tasted better! So great suggestion by the server! :) The menu did not have a large selection, but the servers were so friendly and consistent. I will definitely recommend this to other people, especially if they are looking for a chill night. And definitely get their lobster poutine!

I searched on line for a great place to take my cousin and her friends who were visiting from out of town. It sounded fantastic on the website so I made a reservation. I was late and they had already ordered a bottle of wine otherwise I would have changed venues immediately. The atmosphere was similar to that of a Denny’s. I was all dressed up and expected a place that was worth the effort. I was there for a full 12 minutes before I had a glass of wine in front of me. The menu didn’t look at all familiar to what I read on the website, and what I ordered was very mediocre. I will never go here again and had to apologize to my cousin and her friends. They only have a few nights here and one was waisted in this below average establishment. Step up your game folks… This is Vancouver… land of the greatest restaurants!

Great service. I showed up 5 minutes to close and was still able to enjoy a comforting meal of scallops and mac and cheese. Prices are affordable. My meal was 15 $. Not the most delicious meal ive ever had but was good quick convenient.

I am in charge of organizing our annual company Holiday lunch. I googled restaurants that can accommodate a large group, with several different dietary restrictions. I have never heard of Hidden but the menu was solid and they could accommodate our large group. When making the reservations, I was asked to preorder in an effort to make it easier for the kitchen to handle. I am usually annoyed by this because several people end up changing their minds or cancelling, etc.; however, this was amazing. I was in constant communication with the manager and director of the Westin(Jon and Michael). I had to make changes several times and they very helpful. Upon arriving, we had our own section overlooking the library. They surprised us with a complimentary strawberry raspberry purée at each place setting(a pleasant and delicious surprise). Once our entire party arrived, appetizers were served immediately. I had the fattoush salad(minus the chicken) and it was nice and light. It would probably have been better with the chicken as it was attended but I am a vegetarian. I also tried the cauliflower gratin and it was AMAZING! I highly recommend that for everyone! For the main, I had Radiatore Pasta with extra grilled vegetables. It was so delicious and huge! The veggies were steamed perfectly with a ton of crunch. Some people had desserts and they all enjoyed it! We had coffees and lattes made by Scott which was a perfect way to end the meal. I thought the food was good, but what made this lunch one of the best we have ever had was the service. All the servers remember our names and were incredibly attentive. Michael, the director, came over to introduce himself before our meal. One of our colleagues has a dairy and glutten allergy and she was able to enjoy a full meal(glutten/dairy free schnitzel and a dessert). I highly recommend this place for everyone! Thank you all for making our event such a fantastic one!

This place is a classic typical lounge in Vancouver. It practically«Hidden» in the Western Hotel. The food were above average, I love their mini crab cakes and the pizza which I share with my girlfriend. If you like a quiet place for your special occasions, I recommended this place for the comfort seating, great charisma waitress and quietness.

I had the curry special, which was full of flavor and not too spicy. It came with little naan breads. My boyfriend got the lobster poutine, and he said it was very rich and delicious. The interior is very relaxed and comfortable.

Review is for breakfast. I’ve heard great things regarding dinner… I have to say, not my favorite breakfast buffet. It was ‘OK’, I certainly have had better. Some observations: lox dish had fruit flies buzzing. Soggy scrambled eggs swimming in water. Good croissants. Nice to see congee — certainly a reflection of the city’s international flair. Slow service in morning on coffee, and they were cleaning the area while I was eating, which wasn’t very pleasant. Nice ambiance.

I’m on the fence — ordered breakfast, server was great and poured my coffee. Nice little space, about 12 tables and great light(all windows) and just a happy feeling type of space in the lobby of the Westin Hotel on Robson Street. I worked a bit on my tablet and waited… and waited and then the server indicated that my breakfast order did not go through. He came over with a peace offering of a small raspberry pastry which was wonderful. Then I waited and waited and my poached eggs arrived. I cut in and they were hard boiled and cold !!! Seriously !! He took them away and came back with a small shot of mango smoothie. By now I’m kind of not in the mood for my eggs now. But when they arrived«Mexican Benedict» was cold again The eggs were soft poached and nice, but the sauce and non toasted English muffins were cold. I did eat it(I’m not stupid… and I was hungry) and it was likely the best eggs Benny I’ve ever had — TRULY !! Even thought it was cold… the flavors were outstanding with avocado, salsa and lime. Outstanding !!! The manager came over and apologized and all of the staff were very attentive. Breakfast was on the house. Not what I requested, but very much appreciated !! I’m sure I will be back — things happen and we all need to be better understanding of a great restaurant just having made a small mistake in the scope of things

Hidden’s lunch menu is a contemporary Western style, categorized into«Bites», «Earth», «Sea» and«Land». You can order a dish on its own for around $ 8 — $ 13, or you can partake in the Hidden tapas pairing special, where you can choose any two items, regardless of price, for $ 15. Of course, the portions are slightly smaller than if you had ordered one item on its own, but it’s paired to be the perfect portion size for lunch. All their menu items seem to have an unconventional twist to it. For example, it’s not just any old mac and cheese — it was made with scallops. And the scallops were served on the side, on a bed of marinated raisins. The sweet and savoury pairing was delicious. The grilled brie cheese and short rib sandwich, was made with a cranberry purée … with the crusts cut off(awesome)! My salad paired cantaloupe, goats cheese and prosciutto. Another refreshing, fruit-based salad I tried paired watermelon with feta cheese, olives and mint purée.

Wow, this place really is hidden. My buddy and I literally walked right past this place a couple of times before locating the sign by the Westin entrance. Then we had no idea it was on the 2nd floor. Thank goodness for the Westin concierge. The view overlooks Library Square, and offers a spacious feeling. The restaurant feel is similar to that of a lounge, with the house music going(not too loud though), and a nice shiny well-lit bar. On the far end is an older(non-HD) project showing a hockey game. Tables are mostly 2-person booths, or 5-person tables. I’m not sure they can handle groups here. Parking is available either on the street, or if you feel like getting gouged, there is an underground lot at the Westin. Wi-fi is available(Westin), but you need a numerical code. Not sure if they give out the code to restaurant guests. Only one way to find out. As with any hotel, items here are severely overpriced. $ 6 – 13 for a bottle of beer(341mL or so), really? They literally have no beers on tap, which is a real disappointment to be honest. My friend had a couple of tapas(most food here is of the tapas variety and size). His pot of mussels and his plate of fish pieces(3 in total) mashed potatoes were $ 13 each. I am sure he left hungry. Both dishes sure smelled good though. If you’re a yuppie with money to burn, this is another place to be seen(by the other 5 customers or so), but if you’re looking for value, this isn’t it. Thank goodness there’s a McDonald’s a block away on the other side of the library. I can think of many better places to drink within a 3-block radius of here.

We ducked into The Westin Grand to try the aptly named Hidden lounge. We feasted on some fine comfort food. The lobster poutine was, well, add tasty lobster pieces to fat potato wedges with gravy and cheese curds and you get the idea. Tasty. The fries and onion rings were fairly decent. The smoky ketchup was quite delicious and full of flavour. We ordered a bunch of tasteful dishes. The steak bites cooked medium rare(very top) were quite good. I dug their selection of beers, particularly the apricot weizen. The fried chicken and waffles were also scrumptious. It was a nice meal in a rather reclusive locale, upstairs in the hotel tucked away on busy Robson Street.

If you are cruising downtown and need a place to eat… EATHERE!!! The food here is absolutely incredible. It is all in tapas form which is awesome since there are so many dishes you want to try! My mom and I came here for dinner after I enjoyed breakfast here a couple of times before. The breakfasts are very high quality and perfectly made. I am pretty picky and they accomodated my requests without hesitation or mistakes. The service was 5 star all the way, with the staff being able to answer every random question I asked with ease. They were amazing. This place also offers 25% off for locals during breakfast or brunch! How could I go wrong? But after glimpsing the dinner menu I knew I had to come back and chow down properly We enjoyed several dishes. Please see the individual reviews below: Lobster poutine: Um… are you kidding me? YUM! The lobster worked perfectly in this spin on a regular poutine. It was delectible and coming from me, an admitted seafood hater, you must believe it was delicious. Pulled Pork and Blue Cheese Mini Pizzas: These I truly do dream about. It is a very rich meal but oh what a feeling. The flavours are so perfect together… oh god I’m drooling all over my laptop. Chicken and Waffles: The piece de resistance! This is such an elegant spin on a greasy spoon favorite! I was expecting greasy and crunchy fried chicken and some big ‘ol waffles but instead we got these fresh, delicious and definitely not greasy pieces of fried chicken atop a fluffy quarter of waffle(there were 3 servings) and a comfortable helping of watermelon salsa. Individually these things are wonderful but combined into one delicious bite of sweet, savory and watermelony it is a whole new world! DONOTLEAVEHEREWITHOUTTRYINGTHIS! Seriously, this is my new favorite restaurant in Vancouver. I highly recommend it. Also, they have a ton of cool beers to try! On Tuesdays they do a $ 10 beer tasting with three different neat beers to sample. If you stay for dinner they take the $ 10 off of your bill! Very cool.

I love this spot. And they name it right! One of the cosiest places on Robson, and it’s not too busy all the time. The food is good, and it’s a lovely place to enjoy a cocktail, while removing yourself from the street, overlooking Library Square. However, I have to add one thing. Hidden, do NOT try to be a sports bar. During the Canucks playoff run, you advertised yourselves as «the place to be». Unfortunately, your poor screen quality, barely audible sound and so-so specials did not make for a pleasant viewing experience. On a positive note. Please continue the dine-out menu. It was a pleasant surprise.

I found out about this place while par-oozing Dine Out 2010 venues within walking distance from home and thought that the $ 18 Dine menu was worth a try. I chose the apple salad with quails eggs and crusty cheese, the oyster poor boy sandwich with pita chips, and the banana tart. I think for an appetizer, entre and dessert of this caliber it was money well spent. Although the waitress was clearly exhausted, she was perky and friendly. Another nice touch was that we were given some truffle and manchego cheese popcorn as we had to wait a few minutes for our table. Did I mention the view of the library is stunning at night? I would probably go back for a light snack and drink, but from looking at the regular menu it is way too pricey for anything more. Then again I find most places that are associated with hotels generally are over priced. Which really doesn’t make sense in this neighborhood as the patrons can easily wander away and get much more affordable vittles across the street. I think if the owners want to appeal to Vancouverites they need to lower their prices to match the quality and quantity of the food and drink they serve on their regular menu.
