Amazing cocktails and even better service. The bartender’s are friendly and it has a great vibe. I would recommend their twist on the Old Fashion next time you stop in.

I saw this reviewed on the front page of Unilocal on November 1st and thought about book marking it for future reference. Huge fan of the brick wall interiors and this addition to Gastown. This is more of a tapas room. Sleek dark interior. Dressing nice in the evening is encouraged. The bill can add up, therefore, this is more of a bite and drink place than it is a meal sort of thing.

Second time round and once again a solid performance from the bar staff. Steak was so so and was graciously compd by our server when we pointed out the cut was gristly. Great to see serving staff who are empowered by their masnagement to look after the customers. cheers!

This place is awesome. The mood. The piano man. The cocktails. The vibe. We came here for a couple of drinks before a dinner down the road and are so glad we did. We will be back as many of the other reviewers noted this is just a happy place to hang out.

My husband and I were on vacation in Vancouver and lots of local bartenders told us to try Revel Room. We loved it! *The bartenders were amazing and friendly. *The décor is cool and candle lit. *It smells amazing inside bc they burn cinnamon sticks. Very cozy bar! Perfect for rainy and cold Vancouver :) *The cocktails are great! *They have happy hour! *Live Piano player and old movies playing on the walls. I would definitely hang out there if I lived in Vancouver :)

Been here many times, and it still remains one of my favourite cocktail spots in Vancouver. The live music is what brings me and my friends here, and I also watched my first Charlie Chaplin movie here one night. The cocktails here are all very well made and the marshmellow one is pretty fun. Happy hour here has a number of whiskey sours as options, which I think is the perfect 4pm drinking cocktail. I’ve had the burger here for food as well, and as far as bar burgers go, it was delicious. The cheese plate is pretty disappointing though, and I wouldn’t order that. Also, I think when they’re closing the kitchen bakes cookies for everyone, which is pretty awesome.

Always love the Revel Room. Looking for a late night place to cover away from the rain, and this is always where I end up in the middle of the night with some friends, for a quick bite, and some delicious cocktail drinks to end it all off. One thing I love about the Revel Room is their delicious drinks, the ambiance of the place, and the warmth at the top of the stairs. I am sorry if everyone hates the heat at the top, but I seem to enjoy it. Especially in the wintery nights, and those cold rainy nights. I am the only person who likes to take off my coat, put it on the side, and have a couple drinks with my friends and chill and chat. But be warned, don’t come in the summer, BECAUSEITWILLBEVERYHOT. Just come here in the winter then!!! The only negativity here is the waitresses here. They seem to be extremely fake with their smiles, and their fake attitude. I’ve been here countless times, and the bar tenders here are amazingly friendly. I don’t know what it is, it could be the heat that they have to work in, but they just seem like mean people to me… :X I can get over it quite easily, but sometimes it just hits me hard, especially when you had a couple drinks for the night and you want to come to have some fun, they just ruin the mood… Not gonna get a little snarky service dim me down though, because the amount of times I’ve been here has always been great, fun, and smiles are always around with me and my friends. Memories that were created here are always with me: D Will come back for sure this coming winter season.

The music here is hot and the food is super tasty. They made this exceptional potion(or salad dressing for all your normals out there) on their kale salad and it was amazing. It made me want more kale(said no one ever… well, except me just now) because I wanted more of that dressing. I would recommend going there earlier or somehow arrange to get a table downstairs or by the railing upstairs. I was tucked away in a corner and couldn’t hear the music at all. Which is too bad because they always have amazing musicians at this place.

We went in here to grab a quick drink during happy hour. They were lacking seats at the bar so the host sat us beside a piano on the piano chair. They had live music and me friend curiously lifted the lid on the piano. Bear in mind she can’t even play the piano and had no intention to do so, it was the first drink of the night we were shocked to hear him yell over the microphone«Do not touch my piano, that is my piano I am the only one allowed to use it» even after my friend had gently closed the lid. We only came in for one drink and not to be embarrassed in front of the audience over a slight curiosity. Next time I will come prepared and play some Bach or Beethoven! Do not sit people were they are not suppose to be sitting!

You are greeted by the sound of high stepping blues when you enter the restaurant. The wait staff are very attentive and wonderful. the music was a bit loud. If you’re going on a date or want to have a nice conversation don’t come here. But if you want to enjoy superb food with a flair and distinction all its own, do come. We had the brussels sprouts that were cooked in a vinaigrette maple syrup sauce, the deviled eggs with a hollandaise/pesto sauce and crab on top. To die for. I had the bacon wrapped meatloaf, garlic potatoes, and my hubby had the spare ribs. Ended it with 5 powdered beignets served with a thick maple dip.. Dennis the owner came around and introduced himself, talked with us for a bit and when we left he remembered my name! A must see in Gastown.

What a great restaurant! A true hidden gem in Vancouver. I had the delectable chicken and waffles and I was floored. The batter was juuuuuusssst right. On top of it all, exceptional service. The waitress asked us to switch tables and they gave us one round of free shots to enjoy. Good company, better good and solid music = Great restaurant. I will return.

My favourite whisky room! First and foremost, I am a HUGE fan of whisky. When I was searching for the best whisky sour in vancouver, this place showed up. It did not disappoint. The whisky sour was perfection. Light and refreshing, with a potent whisky flavour to it. If you are a whisky person like myself, you must give this place a try. Tip: if you can’t decide what to order, try to drink roulette! Its fun and the bartender will surprise you in a very good way.

First time at the revel room. Got together with some work friends. The place is loud with their live music. The live music was fun, and on Thursday nights it is «Duelling Pianos», they take song request which is pretty cool. Despite being loud the atmosphere was very enjoyable and they have an incredible assortment of drinks. The staff is very knowledgeable and the food looked great. I had already eaten but did share a plate of pan seared Brussel sprouts and cauliflower that was quite tasty. I would definitely return to try some of their mains.

If you are like me who loves live music, you will love it here at the Revel Room! 4 out of 7 days, you’ll find yourself captivated by the rhythm of Southern music — blues, jazz, and soft rock. Great music, good company and boozy drinks come hand in hand. If you can’t find great company who you can bring along, fear not, you will be fully compensated with their wonderful selection of sour cocktails. Keep in mind, a daily sour hour happens from 4−6pm. Personally, I’m not too keen on their food menu. I’ve tried their ribs, charcuterie plate, mezze platter, frites and brussels sprouts. And may I conclude that if you’re slightly impressed by a vegetable side dish out of an entire table of food then… You know… You’re just desperate to justify the decision of coming here for dinner. All in all, I’ll always be back for the music and vibe. It’s festive downstairs with dancing people but intimate upstairs for those who like to enjoy the fun from afar.

I was last at the Revel Room just under a year ago, and I don’t see what I had then on the menu anymore. Which is a good reminder to myself that reviews are really outdated after a year, and even sooner for newer restaurants. Went in Wednesday night at 5pm for an early dinner before a Unilocal Event involving boardgames in the upstairs dining area. Disclaimer: I couldn’t go entirely incognito on this dinner. They asked if I were part of the 6pm Unilocal event and I had to fess up(since they’d obviously spot me there later!), so from the get-go they knew I was at least a Unilocaler. Of course, nowadays, Unilocalers are dime a dozen so I’m pretty sure they didn’t treat me any differently. Probably. Kentucky Sweet Tea Fried Chicken($ 23) butter mashed yukons, gravy, vegetables, cornbread hush puppy — Not a huge plate, but definitely a filling one for your money without forcing you to leave behind leftovers on the plate. — Single«hush puppy» that looked like it was a battered and deep fried ping pong ball of cornbread. This means a moister, almost pudding-creamy, interior and a dessert-like sweetness. Very yum! Why don’t they sell these on a sharing plate? — White meat and dark meat — looked like basically the easy-to-eat portions of a half chicken on my plate. And it was also about half of what was on the plate — there’s no «cheating» to fill you up with cheap carbs and only a little chicken here. — White breast meat was tender(as breast meat goes) and more importantly, moist. No trouble having to force down dry, wooden meat here. Can I give bonus points for this? Dark meat was of course moist and tender. — Deep fried batter looked strangely baked maybe, in part because there were some(small) sections that were basically black. Fortunately not enough to interfere too much with the taste. Batter was otherwise excellent — very crispy, not super thick or oily tasting. — Vegetables today turned out to be mostly bell peppers, onions, and string beans. If you are hoping for a salad, ask first and maybe ask for a substitute. Only tried the chicken today, so no idea if the rest of the menu is as tasty. Price considering both portion and quality is excellent. If a filling dinner isn’t for you but you want to try the chicken, the Cajun Fried Chicken Bites are apparently NOT done in the same manner, so check with your server as to your options. Or maybe beg to sub out all the veggies and mashed potatoes for more of them super-tasty hush puppies! I recommend going earlier(especially during their 4pm-6pm happy hour) to not only avoid the dinner rush but to be able to talk to your dining companions without shouting if there’s a band on. You can increase your chances of not having to shout all night by asking to be seated upstairs, where there are air conditioners toward the back as well. I walked in at 5pm to find the place was completely dead. Dinner rush hadn’t started and the place wouldn’t really get underway until after 6pm when the live band was playing. Around 8:30 pm, the place was almost at capacity with the small downstairs full, upstairs nearly full, and a few persons on the tight«dance floor» area just inside the door. The quieter 5pm dining time also means a kitchen free to dedicate to my order and staff readily available and promptly checking on you shortly after dinner is served. Only giving a cautious 4-stars instead of 5 because my review is based on a particular dish that turned out superb, and service during a very quiet time of day. If you can get there for 4pm-6pm dinner, consider this a 5-star review.

I love The Revel room. Easily one of the best cocktail bars in Vancouver — a lot more personable and approachable than The Diamond. The only downside is the tiny bar area that only seats a handful of people, because sitting at the bar is where the fun’s at. If you can, grab a seat at the bar and watch and chat to the amazing bar staff as they create inventive cocktails. I highly advise taking up the option of ‘Cocktail Roulette’ whereby you can choose from options such as liquor, styler, and era and the mixologists will come up with something especially for you. They made me some kind of awesomeness that included gin, basil, and bitters. Oh, and if you know what a Sazerac is, they do a mean one here!

I’ve always had a fun time at Revel Room, and I keep coming back! I like the fact that they have a lot of live music, and the drinks are good — I’ve quite enjoyed their cocktails. I do find the downstairs a little bright and seems to highlight some of the more rustic edges, but the staff have always been friendly, and the polenta chips are super tasty. Mary W., a mutual friend, and I took a trip here after seeing a show and had a lot of fun sitting upstairs — there’s a more relaxed atmosphere, it’s darker, and seems calmer somehow than downstairs. Plus it’s easier to spy on people! I can’t say that Revel Room is my go-to place in Gastown just yet, but it’s a good place to swing by for a drink on a busy night! There’s usually a good atmosphere, and the live music can certainly get the crowd hopping.

Yessssssssssssssssss. Finally a bar in Vancouver that made drinks with liquor. OK, my Canadians… I love your home, I really do… but your drinks are weak. Like seriously. I ended up drinking wine and beer most of the time because the mixed drinks were no good. Gastown was my preferred drinking destination while on Vacation. I decided to give Revel Room a try by chance, and I’m glad I did. I got a seat at the bar and ordered the strongest smokiest drink they had. The Mother In Law, followed by the Father In Law. Not for the faint of heart. I was tipsyyyyy lol. I met some awesome friends while there and we all had a blast. Cant wait to return, this will be my first stop. The bartenders were nice, and I like that they dressed up. Not because they had to, but because they had style. Bueno.
