I’ve been there a few times. Their food is fresh, they have great service and the price is great too!

Awesome little place run by a very kind couple who always make us feel welcome. They put a lot of care into their menu and service and it shows. We love coming here and their 5 items for $ 7.99 is a steal.

I found Sakuranbo completely on accident, and I’m so glad I did! I have been here twice now in a week because it’s so delicious. Sakuranbo is a very small restaurant with about 7 tables total. Their menu looks relatively generic and at first glance I wasn’t too impressed but that changed VERY quickly. Sakuranbo has an insanely good deal where you can choose 5 items from a list of about 12 things for $ 7.99. IT’S CRAZY. Most of the items are full sized and they also offer very generous portions of sashimi and nigiri(two HUGE pieces per order) that are included in this deal. I think what really makes this deal special is that you can order duplicates of something you really like without it being an extra charge(for example, two orders of spicy tuna nigiri and two orders of sashimi). My favourite is their spicy tuna nigiri. I can easily say that it is the most delicious spicy tuna I have ever tasted – it is just the right amount of spicy without leaving you gasping for air and most importantly, it’s not saturated in a mayo-sriracha sauce. Sakuranbo is obviously a local favourite as both times I have been there the restaurant filled up extremely quick, but luckily the food comes out fast and hot and the turnover time isn’t terrible. I would absolutely recommend coming here and trying the combo deal. You will not be disappointed!

I think we just need to come to the conclusion that any«hole in the wall» sushi place is not going to be great. It’s going to be mediocre at best. Sure if you’re looking for«value» you might want to go here because it’s quite cheap but do you really want to sacrifice the quality of what you eat? I wouldn’t. Especially if it’s seafood that I’m going to be eating. So, in the end — it’s just another sushi place in Vancouver that I won’t be going back to.

I feel like I am about to let you in on a secret… sort of. This isn’t Ajisai or Tojo, but it has been our regular sushi place to inexpensively satisfy what seems like a weekly craving for raw fish. Sakuranbo is a small restaurant, which can get busy on Fridays and Saturdays.(They are closed on Sundays) We keep going back, because Cho and Chun, who are a husband and wife team, are able to deliver consistent quality and service out of their tiny kitchen. As previous reviewers have noted the $ 7.99 deal with a choice of five items is a really good value. My favorites are: — Salmon /Tuna sushi or sashimi — Spicy salmon sushi — this has a good bit of heat to it — Gomae — the salad is delicious — Agedashi tofu /takoyaki /tempura — how can you go wrong with something fried? — Teriyaki Chicken — Spider roll(not part of the $ 7.99 deal, but worth ordering anyway) — California roll Other nigiri sushi favorites are Ikura(salmon roe), Toro(tuna belly) and Hotate(scallop). If you feel like ‘splurging’ I would recommend the Chirashi Sushi for $ 15, which comes with a variety of fish served on rice.(Tip: if you like the Korean dish Hwe Dup Bap ask for spicy sauce on the side. The spicy sauce they use is remarkably similar to what you would find in a Korean restaurant since the owners are Korean).

The deal 5 items for $ 7.99 was pretty good to me, they have pretty much options to pick from, the food came fast after we order, they serve you first a cup of mugicha tea I think(which is one of my favorites), I got the gomae salad, the dressing was so yummy, the potato koroke was good too, I’m not sure if was potato or kabocha but tasted good, also got miso soup which just needed a little bit more wakame but the taste was good as well, the agedashi tofu was ok ^^ juuuust the rice was kind of dry but other than that food was good, they have nice service and the place looks clean.

I came here a couple times because of the reviews. I’d say it’s a solid 3.5 stars. Their 5 items for $ 7.99 special is a very good deal. The restaurant seems consistently empty though with very little customer traffic, yet the fish is quite fresh in general. I kinda wish they would cook korean food instead of japanese sushi and sashimi. There are hardly any korean restaurants in the Marpole area.

Solid 3.5 stars, esp. if you’re into décor or the fancy presentation. Just straight up, simple sushi. Only quirk is the rice, the rolls literally fell apart if you squeezed too hard w/your chopsticks. Or maybe i’m just too strong. Ordered the chicken katsu bento box, pretty crispy and tender. good sauce, lots of salad, and california roll big size. comes with miso soup too. Impressed w/its white ginger. Great value. accepts all cards.

I love this place! It is a cute, tiny restaurant, and holds maybe 20 people. When I went, there were 2 workers, a waitress & the cook. The waitress is Japanese if I am right, so you definitely get that authentic Japanese feeling that you would not get at a chinese or vietnamese owned sushi place. You have to be patient when letting the waitress take your order because she has an accent and may be hard to understand. She is a very cute lady and she runs everything very well. The customer service is top notch! I tipped well because it is one of the few authentic Japanese-feeling restaurants in Vancouver, the customer service gets an A+, and the food & their prices is unbeatable. The prices are very good, and they offer the typical Japanese food that you would find at any Japanese restaurant. The sushi has a bit too much rice, but it is hard to have the perfect amount. I ordered the tofu teriyaki, and it was deep fried perfectly, not too much, and not too little. The rolls are very good, especially the red roll. LOVELOVELOVE! :)

My regular sushi joint was closed so I wandered up here. This used to be a different sushi place, but nonetheless I went in. The value for my meal was pretty good. The rolls were great and fresh and quite large. I actually could have gone with less rice. Mastering the right amount of rice to fillings is a fine art I have never been able to achieve with my own rolls, but I prefer not to have too much rice, or you get too full too fast. I had a Red Roll, which was awesome. Spicy tuna on a chopped scallop roll. Yum. And the unagi and cucumber roll. Also good. I love unagi. And the prices for these nice big rolls was very good. Around $ 5.50 I think. Great deal. I also ordered myself some gomae, which was nice, but slightly bitter. Lots of sauce which I like. And they brought me some miso, which was very sweet. I was stuffed after! One large roll would have sufficed. Good spot to check out if you are in Marpole. Service was pleasant. More tea would have been nice. 3.5 stars. Rounded up to 4 for the Red Roll. Otherwise a 3.

The place is very small, but don’t let that fool you! It’s a wonderful sushi place that offers their unique twist on familiar dishes. For example, the House Roll definitely was not what I had in mind either, as it had little red eggs on each roll. But nonetheless, it was delicious. It had a very delicate taste to it. Spicy Tuna Don wasn’t bad either. It had avocado and cucumber chunks, which I found perfect with well seasoned tuna sashimi. Definitely earned a revisit from me!
