Should’ve tried this place earlier! Very affordable price for some well-presented and tasty food :) The atmosphere was nice and quiet, especially great for people(like me) who just wanna chill and have some decent sushi after work. Would 100% recommend this hidden gem to other sushi lovers out there !

Wow. Amazing sushi! Huge portions and great price(compared to sushi in California, USA). I had veggie tempura udon and the rock n roll specialty roll… omg!(Way too much food for 1 person) My hubby had the volcano roll and couldn’t stop talking about it thru the entire meal! Super fresh and super yummy!

Great selection of dishes at very reasonable prices. Fresh and delicious sashimi and sushi. Service is generally quite good. Would highly recommend their chopped scallop nigiri and nabeyaki udon.

When I eat sushi, especially by myself, I like to hand pick my fish by ordering nigiri sushi. I was very impressed by the freshness of the fish, the tender sushi rice and the the overall presentation. The other plus is the price — extremely reasonable for the quality. It’s not on par with, say, über authentic places like Sushi Bar Maumi on Bute or fancy Minami or Miku but is far better than most cheap sushi places so prolific in Vancouver — places I refer to as «weekday sushi». So why not pay just a wee bit more to get double the quality?

Great spot. Sushi is delish, but not top quality sushi. It’s about the same quality sushi you’d expect for this price point. I recommend the Salmon and Tuna Sashimi, and the Parking in the back. Staff was super friendly and attentive. TVs all around the restaurant.

Don’t let the dark store front deceive you – they are open. Plenty of free parking along the streets and a few spots reserved for customers in the back. We came on a Thursday night and despite the aforementioned dark exterior, the restaurant was full. The décor is clean and the seating is spacious thus not over-packing diners. The menu is extensive, something for everyone. We ordered deluxe assorted sashimi, chopped scallop roll, crunchy awesome roll, toro oshi sushi and a few pieces of nigiri. The highlights were the crunchy awesome roll and nigiri(uni, tobiko with quail egg, hotategai). Succulent. Fresh. Well-presented. Everything else was solid, good portion sized, and reasonably priced(under $ 60 for three people). Service is friendly but the kitchen is quite slow. Definitely worth checking out and returning to.

This is Korean owned Japanese restaurant near King Ed which offer similar menu as Sushi Oyama and Sushi Garden. Service was fast and décor was nice and clean. I got Sashimi & Sushi combo for $ 9.95 and it was good. Portion was filling. Service is much better than Sushi Gardrn in my personal opinion. I’ll go here again to crave sushi whenever I’m in this area.

Craving sushi and saw this new place nearby, so we decided to give it a try! There’s lots of street parking, both paid and free 2hr parking nearby. I wasn’t noticed for a while before being seated, but did get a seat eventually(it was near empty) and the waitress was friendly. Similar to other Korean-operated Japanese restaurants, the menu offered reasonably priced sushi and I didn’t expect anything super fancy. There were quite a few special rolls, and I saw others order it– looked pretty good! I was debating between udon or rice, but the server recommended the rice, so I got their Al Bab($ 6.95). It was rice in a hot stone bowl topped with tobiko, masago, pickled veggies, carrot, cucumber, and seaweed mixed in a light soy sauce. The bowl was hot and they mixed it for me, taste was interesting, never had something like it before but felt it wasn’t as «delicious» as she sold it as. Next to arrive was the Sashimi and Sushi Combo($ 9.95) which had two pieces salmon and tuna sashimi, and one ebi(I swapped it to ika free of charge), tuna, salmon, chopped scallop, and masago nigiri. I was quite happy with the ika, it was gooey but had some spring to it. The others were equally average. Disappointment was the mushy tuna sashimi and«tendonous»(veiny?) salmon sashimi. Good portions though! Last thing was a Deep Fried California Roll($ 3.75). Considering the price, I shouldn’t have expected much. It was crispy on the outside and topped with a tangy sauce + spicy mayo. The insides were average imitation crab and creamy avocado, but it was too warm and made it quite heavy. Adorables did not approve of it. They give cotton candy instead of candies here! Fun =D Overall it was hard to get service when you wanted it, but I guess it provides some level of privacy if you wanted it. They were good in making rounds to fill up our tea, and generally welcoming.

After Reading all the Unilocal reviews and thought I would try it myself. I love sushi and i would say this is my new to go sushi places. I ordered the coco platter that was offered from opening until 3:00pm which included: 2 piece coconut shrimp, 3 agedashi tofu, gomaee, aria pickle, spicy salmon don and Zaru soba. Very impressed how it was all presented. The coconut shrimp was very good. Also the coconut wasn’t overpowering it was the the perfect amount. The spicy salmon don was the perfect amount size especially with having the small bowl of zaru soba that fills you up. Overall, Restaurant was clean, servers are very friendly. Definitely will be coming back

During a walk up Cambie Sunday night we noticed a new sushi place had opened at Cambie and Kingsway. After reading the positive reviews on Unilocal we decided to check it out for dinner tonight. This is one classy sushi place. Nice decorating and lighting create a lovely ambiance in which to consume tasty sushi. We ordered the tuna and salmon sashimi, the Alaska roll(a favorite of the hubs), a crunch roll, and gyoza. The sashimi was the highlight; fresh and delicious with generous-sized pieces. The sauce on the Alaska roll has more garlic than our usual sushi joint, which was a delicious addition. The crunch roll was also delicious with copious amounts of yam and tempura crunch. The only disappointment was the gyoza, which could have done with a bit more grill time. We watched dishes for other tables go by, each well-presented and intriguing. We will definitely be back again. I would also like to note the service was friendly and very attentive. We had a couple of different servers come by our table a few times to check on us and refresh our tea. We felt welcome and in return, we say welcome to the neighborhood, Sushi Aria.

Are these reviews planted? The sushi is terrible! For the love of God, if you like sushi, don’t try this place. I don’t know where the sushi ‘chef’ gets off saying they use real crab when it is most definitely something else. The specialty rolls are an insult to true sushi chefs who use fresh, high quality ingredients . I asked my spouse, who picked up the take out, if the restaurant is run and operated by actual Japanese people, as many is these restaurants are now bought and run by other nationalities often mistaken them for Japanese.

Situated between Copa Café and Corner 23, and across from Landmark Hot Pot, I think it’s perfect to have a sushi restaurant in this area. We came here on a Saturday evening without reservations, and we were seated quickly! The menu had a wide variety of appetizers, dons, udons, rolls, teriyakis, and a smaller number of choices for sushi combos. I thought the prices at this sushi restaurant was pretty reasonable compared to an average sushi restaurant in Vancouver, given that it was moderate quality. I’m giving it 4 stars because of the Alaska combo I ordered. Alaska roll is usually my go-to sushi roll because I love California roll and I love salmon sashimi. So, Alaska roll is just the perfect combination for me. However, where’s the imitation crab meat in this Alaska roll?! Even though it was filled with chunks of avocado, which made it creamy, it just didn’t taste right without the imitation crab meat. How can this be an Alaska roll with just avocado in the middle? There are mainly 2 things that allows me to give them 4 stars easily. First of all, the Nabeyaki udon was one of the best nabeyaki udons I’ve had. The udon noodles were done just perfectly, not overly or underly cooked.(I know, it shouldn’t be hard to get udon noodles perfectly cooked). Also, the soup was rich, however, it was lacking a bit in terms of toppings as it basically only had chicken, mushrooms, and little veggies — Nabeyaki udon is not complete without fish cakes! One thing that really stood out is that the waitresses were constantly filling our cups with tea. We stayed there for quite some time and I was really surprised(and thankful) that I had never for once needed to ask them for to refill our tea. Thank you for keeping us hydrated and warm with the green tea!

The Nigiri is very good value. Skip the rolls– they are sloppy, too saucy and not that great tasting. I also skipped the aburri/oishi sushi after I saw reviews and pictures of it heavily mayo’d The cooked food is decent and well priced. I’m usually okay with Korean-owned sushi restaurants. They can be a little heavy on the sauce and mayo, but they tend to still have good quality and service. I’d come back for an all-nigiri feast again. Very reasonable priced with all nigiri averaging $ 2 a piece. However if I want rolls or aburi sushi I’d go to Shiro’s down the road.

The restaurant looks pretty swanky from the outside, and going in it kinda gives me vibes of a nightclub, that said it’s a simple restaurant layout with car seats for 4 and then various other seating all around. The sushi bar area also has seating. Standard run of the mill sushi place with special rolls. Didn’t see any teriyaki offerings though. Ordered the standard stuff I usually get when I try out sushi places, spicy tuna/salmon, negitoro. And then tried a couple of their special rolls and their tempura. They do have tempura shrimp here, which I really love. The sushi itself was a bit disappointing, the rice didn’t seem really well put together and for a number of the rolls it was a bit mushy. Or lacked enough rice to go around the seaweed. I might give it another try, but there are many other sushi restaurants around that offer the same thing that are consistent.

After reading the rave reviews of this place on Unilocal, this place was high on my to-try list! Since I was in the area this evening, I stopped in for dinner & randomly picked 2 of my usual faves that most Japanese restaurant menus contain — Takoyaki and a Nabeyaki Udon. Aside from what I had ordered, I was also given a bowl of miso soup & a small salad — both on the house — with my order. The Takoyaki was fantastic! Topped with generous amounts of bonito flakes & drizzled with mayo were 6 delicious balls of flour with octopus stuffing, sitting on a bed of lettuce. The Takoyaki was cooked to perfection — not hard & burnt, nor wet & soggy. The Nabeyaki Udon was another delightful surprise as it arrived in a stone bowl! That kept the dish sizzling hot throughout. Stirring in the giant egg, my soup became really rich & flavourful in taste. There was a generous amount of fresh ingredients(udon noodles, soup, tender chicken slices, small shrimps, and assorted veggies). Delicious dishes, nice ambience, friendly service and decent prices. I’ll definitely be back again soon to try more from their menu!

Came by for a late lunch on Saturday with a friend who lives in the area. Sushi Aria opened just recently and is located across the street from King Edward Station on the Canada Line It’s great to see a new restaurant open here. Whenever we used to have lunch in this area, it was usually way down Cambie, which meant a 5 – 6 block walk to the restaurant area on Cambie. Ordinarily that’s okay, but when I have a serious hankering before we’ve even started walking, well the walk ends up being torturous. Couple that with a bunch of uninspiring dining options — Tokyo John, another sushi place by 17th is a little too pricy — ditto for Biercraft. U&I Thai — been there done that and they do not offer lunch specials. Up until now our default has been Thai Away Home. We were seated quickly at a booth near the front. Sushi Aria has a very modern look inside and it’s well lit. Seating was comfortable and the table was an ample size for the two of us. We ordered three rolls — the crunchy spicy tuna, chicken teriyaki and spicy salmon rolls. The waitress offered us free miso soup and green salad in honour of their opening which I gladly accepted. The prices here are more than fair. Less than $ 4 for each of the rolls and you get eight of them. We both agreed that the sushi was good and between the two of us 24 rolls were plenty. Service was polite and efficient. We always had a cup of tea in front of us with plenty of refills. Order was taken in good time and the rolls came out within ten minutes. Will definitely be returning.

Ordered takeout for 8 people and it only cost about 10 dollars a person! much like sushi garden, they had the korean style sushi which was delicious but it was complimented by extremely kind service giving us some free miso soup as well! The chopped scallop was my favourite since it was filled with scallop pieces! And of course can’t forget that spicy salmon sashimi: D Great meal!

Just when will these Korean-operated sushi places ever stop?! I’ve actually been salivating for them to re-open ever since that Craving desserts/high tea went out of business, as this area needs a serious sushi place in this area. Décor-wise, they really opened it up, with the booths on the right side all the way down to where the back room used to be. Quarried-style grey rock throughout, and nice chandelier style hanging lights at the front. Ordered their supposingly spicy Rock n Roll, the scallops cooked well with a nice pan-fried sauce, on top of a cali roll with the famous crunchy flakes & special sauce, surprise surprise. Served with a nice green salad, as per pic, for just $ 8.25, what a deal. comes with miso soup too. A few parking spots in the back. Great, gorgeous customer service ;) Easy repeat.
