Just your average sushi fare– nothing fancy here. The prices are good and the food is decent. I got a combo that was on special and it came with a California roll and assorted tempura for $ 8.95. Normally I wouldn’t order this as I never order California rolls unless they are part of a combo of other rolls, but I had a strong tempura craving. The tempura wasn’t too oily and the amount was good. 5 pieces of vegetables and 2 prawns. The prawns were on the small side but that was alright, it satisfied the craving. Boyfriend got the chicken yakisoba and it came out on a sizzling hot plate. Not bad. Since they’ve changed ownership, it’s not so bad and I’ll be throwing this place into the mix for when I feel like simple sushi but don’t want to pay premium dollars.

In Vancouver on vacation and it was my last night in town and was exhausted. Wanted to bring sushi back to the hotel. Found this place around the corner. Being from Southern California I’m particular about my sushi as there is one almost everywhere. Menu was different than I’m used to but what I ordered was delicious. A few small roles and 2 special roles. All delicious, fresh, and reasonable prices. Highly recommend this place.

This sushi restaurant was pretty empty for a Friday night at 6:00 pm, so we were a little skeptical at first. There was only one other couple in the whole restaurant, which was quite surprising. We ordered miso soup, assorted tempura, dynamite roll and a California roll. I was really impressed with the California roll. The dynamite roll was excellent also; it was warm and I love when they are warm. The miso soup was great too. The assorted tempura was a little greasy, but I still loved it. I’d definitely go back here again. The décor is nothing fancy and the bathroom is meh, but most sushi places do have dumpy bathrooms, I find. Our server was friendly and polite. I’ll be going back again for sure.

Cheap and cheerful. You can find a few lunch specials here. I had the lunch special roll which was $ 6.99 instead of $ 8.99 and well worth it. The bento boxes are filling and pretty tasty. It’s a slightly hidden location, downstairs, so it’s pretty easy to find a table. Friendly and fast service. Can’t complain!

Nearly empty at 8 on a Tuesday night. Ended up here because Shizen Ya was full, and the place next to that looked a bit funny.(Was probably fine though.) Pretty cool spot — a bit plain but that could have been due to the lack of people. I asked them to upgrade the«Tuna /salmon sashimi» to have wild salmon, not a problem, very tasty! Good value. Server was a bit inexperienced, but nice and not a major detractor. Iced glasses for beer would be an improvement.

Stopped in for dinner after seeing their menu upstairs. Prices are more than reasonable!!! As soon as we walked in and sat down we were served our hot tea. Our waitress had a lot of personality, which was a plus. We placed our sushi orders and were served promptly. The sushi was fresh & delicious. All in all, if I were to visit Vancouver again, I would definitely visit again.

Location décor not too appealing. But good was good value. Ramen was bland, not recommended. Bento combo was quite good, especially the chicken which was juicy snd crispy, nice portions.

Came by here with my sister and cousin who were downtown for the day. They decided they wanted to have sushi for lunch. So after doing some research and getting recommended this sushi place on thurlow we decided to give it a try! I did not like how the interior looked, for some reason it looked dirty to me even though it wasn’t! We got seated and a gentleman approached us asking us what we wanted. We gave our orders and after 20 minutes he gave me a wrong meal which i had not asked for. Than I told him and he came back with the wrong meal AGAIN! I also had told him i don’t want any wassabi and my friend told him that she wanted extra wasabi and he ended giving me the wassabi and not her! That really made my meal not enjoyable. HOWEVER the food was good for the CHEAP price!

There is a large selection on the menu which is really neat. They did not have a roll I wanted and requested the chef to make it for me. The chef didn’t ask any question and worked on it right away. They charged me at a reasonable price as well.

I found this place on my lunch break from work. I walked down the stairway to my little sushi heaven. It’s not much to look at inside, random big screen tv’s a small 90’s soda cooler, old news papers and odd decorations don’t even matter. I have eaten here a number of times even bringing co workers, my bf and family here. It’s that good. My personal favorite is the lunch special, a chicken bento box(pictured), for $ 8.99. I will no longer eat sushi else where. The quality of the food served here is outstanding, friendly service to boot. My next favorite is the spring roll, dripping with seaweed salad, packed with fresh tempura yam and avocado. Just all around goodness. The food is made fresh when you order. No sushi boat bs here. You may have to wait a bit but be patient, you will be rewarded.
