Went here last night and this place was great! A three course meal so filling and so healthy. A great environment! Our waitress was very accommodating. Thank you for a great dinner :)

Came here for Dine Out Vancouver and had a very pleasant surprise. I usually try to avoid Yaletown eateries as parking is always a nightmare and I find other establishments slightly pretentious.(Not naming any names) Made a reservation, we were greeted promptly and made to feel welcome. We were placed in a corner table right by the window and due to the fact that it slides open in the summer, it was a little drafty and cold. Our Server, of course I can’t remember his name was awesome and attentive. I’m not one who needs constant attention when I go out to eat so for me, he was perfect. Checked in us once while eating and kept the water glasses full. Had a great smile. Food was great considering it was a set menu. Steak was perfectly cooked, the veggies crisp and bright and everything else was pretty good. I will deduct a star for the wine list. While I understand that we live in BC, and they support local wines, I can’t understand why there is only one California wine that is available by the glass. It was pretty good but I would like to see a little more variety from California. Other than that… pretty darn good evening. We may make this a regular spot.

Staff are not very friendly and show attitude when annoyed. Also, the place is quite cold and all my coworkers keep their jackets on when we go there for lunch. They don’t allow you to substitute salad for fries. If you want a salad as your side, you are charged an extra $ 3. In terms of food, it isn’t bad — the mussels are delicious and the fried chicken is solid. Prices are usually reasonable.

I found the lunch specials quite cheap for Yaletown. Service was good and the ambience is nice. I couldn’t quite shake the feeling though that the food tasted and felt like it was from Costco, which is not necessarily a bad thing but also made it feel a bit generic. For the price though, I really shouldn’t be complaining.

Came here with family last summer for some steak and sat out by the patio. Inside is dimly lit and looks like it can use some renovations. Service is fair and can fit bigger parties inside. Steak was ok only, nothing special but the price was not as pricey as the other steak houses. We also tried some other appetizers which wasn’t bad. Dessert took a bit too long and we had to go feed the meter a few times.

We live across the street and it’s one of our favourite spots. The food is always delicious, beautifully presented, the servers are efficient and friendly and they have very good prices. Right now there is a really nice summer patio too with blankets on the backs of the chairs if you get a little cold. Last night I tried the appetizer mushroom tart and it was very filling. Lots of different kinds of mushrooms, goat cheese, served on the most flaky and light pastry crust. Will definitely be ordering that again!

I look forward to the anniversary steak dinner every year! Not only is it a fantastic deal … it’s absolutely delicious!!! The steak is melt in your mouth delicious! The mashed potatoes are usually excellent but I’ve had it a couple of times a bit watery … but the vegetables are crisp and so flavourful. The bread included in the meal is soo, sooo good! Not bad for $ 14!!! Now if you have room, I recommend the Cheese Fondue. So rich and so delicious!!! Any left over … use on top of the steak. Ceasar Sald … large portion and so good. Mushrooms … you get plenty for the price you pay and yes, it’s delicious too! And if you still have room, the dessert, gingerbread pudding with two scoops of ice cream. an absolute nice end to a fantastic meal!!! June is almost over … I wonder if I can fit one more steak dinner in. This year they have breast of chicken and steelhead!!!

I went here for the first time about a month ago for a private party(that I organized). The owner and head chef Neil was extremely accommodating to my specific needs of my event. He did all the little things such as writing out the name of my event on his chalk board outside, customized menus, etc. The service staff were great and the food all came out in a very orderly fashion. The food is absolutely amazing! I really chose this place for steak and I ordered the rib steak and it is every bit as good as other steak houses in town. What I like about the steak(and for all entrees actually) is that you get the full entrée with the sides(i.e. mashed potatoes, vegetables, etc.). In other well known steak houses(i.e Hy’s and Gotham’s), you pay a lot more just for the steak and then also have to spend extra for the sides. For value, Hamilton Street Grill is, in my opinion, one of the best for a great steak dinner.

Living in Yaletown this is one of our go to restaurants. The food is consistent, the staff are always attentive and friendly and the atmosphere is upscale casual and lacks a lot of the pretentiousness of many Yaletown restaurants. The patio is a favorite place in the summertime and they offer both heat lamps and blankets so that the patio season can stretch a bit further. My favorite entrée is by far the pork chop but the steaks are fantastic as well. The gingerbread pudding is a must.

Stopped in here to use the bathroom, but I picked it over anywhere else because of the sign out front advertising Mac & Cheese with housemade Chorizo. Not too shabby. A cup of it could’ve had more than the few pieces mine did, but the service was polite and quick enough that I’d give them a chance to make me an entrée.

I’d love to give it a higher rating, so I will got with a strong, very favourable, and well earned 3 stars. The food was good, the service was good, my wife was underwhelmed by the experience so I can’t bump it up by fear of sleeping on the couch. We were at the HSG to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The evening was attended by 6 Australian loud mouths(AFL players and such), 4 loud, drunk, French Canadians(of which I am guilty of being one) and two unlucky spouses. The next day, reflecting back on the evening, we were surprised that the restaurant didn’t ask us to quiet down, or leave. They did however generously relocate a few unfortunate patrons who had been seated in our section(sorry). Our server very much earned his 18% mandatory tip for groups and I wish that I’d had the calmness of mind to tip him more(again sorry). To make it easy on the kitchen, we all had the taste of Yaletown menu. Steaks were all served medium rate, no matter the order, but that’s OK, I think that most of us ordered them that way, except for one blue and one medium, both of which came out MR. They didn’t have any allergy specific deserts, which brings it down 1 star due to allergies in the group, so beware if you have an allergy. After some proding, the waiter did offer us a drink to compensate as we were having a prix fix meal. Otherwise, it was a riot of a time and I would definitely go back with a group, likely not on a date.

I’ve had dinner at HSG in the past, but that was over five years ago and their quality of food has significantly declined. I honestly feel a bit bad writing this post and giving them a 2-star«meh» but I have to say that I was extremely underwhelmed with my lunch at HSG. We actually came here on a social shopper coupon that included two of their«famous» bacon cheese burgers, fries and a soda. The fries were … not very good and we ended up not finishing while the burger itself was alright but nothing special. The pattie seemed a bit overcooked and for some reason, even though it had all the essential ingredients of an amazing burger, it just wasn’t that… amazing. I do have to say that our service was great and everybody was extremely kind. I’m just puzzled why my burger was less tasty than a big mac at McDonalds and I’m not too sure if I’ll come back again.

really wanted to like HSG unfortunately it was extremely disappointing. I was looking through the entertainment book and saw a coupon for HSG; I’d been wanting to visit for a long time so it was a perfect opportunity to try it out. We called ahead in case to make sure it wasn’t too busy sinc it was Friday around 7pm. The restaurant was just starting to fill up when we arrived. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and a server. The two of us shared half a dozen oysters and a salad to start. Both dishes were satisfactory. For entrees, we ordered blackened ny steak and wild salmon with vegetable risotto. The steak was extremely tough and a bit overdone but my friend decided he’d just eat it. I requested my salmon to be done medium rare – to my dismay it was very overdone and dry. The risotto however, was tasty and creamy. Our waitress Amelia was mostly absent from the entire floor and didn‘t bother to check on us for a full 15 minutes. There didn’t seem to have been too many other servers, however she didn’t appear to be that busy either. When my salmon returned from the kitchen, it was done to my liking however the risotto had a pool of liquid in it and was essentially undercooked rice with lots of peas and water.(See attached pic) When she showed up again 10 minutes after dropping off the plate, and I mentioned to her the risotto looked like it had a pool of water in it, she laughed and walked away. Our water was only refilled once the entire course of the meal, and it was during the first five minutes of sitting down. I was hoping to return with a group of friends the following week however, after this experience we will definitely go to one of the many neighbouring restaurants instead.

Went here on a groupon for dinner for two. It was a gorgeous day so we sat out on the patio. We were served pretty quickly, and the entire service was great. We both had the steak, and it was delicious. The only thing I didn’t love was the frites served with steak — I don’t know why but it just takes a classy meal and makes it into fast food(if you can have fast food steak). That’s just personal choice on my part though.
Excellent food. We visited somewhat recently for a friends birthday. We had a reservation and although we arrived a little late, our coats were checked and we were seated quickly. We started off with cocktails and wine — delicious but a little overpriced(personal taste, this IS Yaletown, after all). Mister had the pork chops and I had mussels. Mussels were tasty however it was the pork chop that stole the show. I complimented the chef and he thanked us before we left. Service was stoic and cold, the waiter could have been more friendly but again, this is Yaletown. Who do I think I am?!

Despite living in Yaletown, I was surprised I hadn’t had the opportunity to visit Hamilton Street Grill yet. Although the restaurant isn’t as flashy as some of the other downtown steakhouses, which have opened in recent years(like Black & Blue or The Keg in Yaletown with it’s rooftop patios), being in restaurant industry for over a decade is something to brag about. I started off with the Terrine Maison with Cornichon, Grainy Dijon and Crostini, which is a good choice for anyone who likes chunky pâté with charcuterie-style sides. My boyfriend had the Caesar Salad with Roasted Garlic Dressing and Parmesan Reggiano Cheese, which was served in a chilled bowl so you get that crunchy-fresh salad texture. For the main course we both ordered the hearty Angus Beef Sirloin au Poivre with Brandy Peppercream Sauce. The side of Kennebec Fries gave the dish a French touch — think: Steak-Frites. For dessert, I had the Vanilla Bean Crème Brûlée, which had a thick(well, thicker than what I’m used to), crunchy caramel layer on top of the custard. My boyfriend had the Belgian Chocolate Mousse, which had a rich, whipped and spongy texture.

Fried chicken is not worth the wait. I don’t know why everyone hypes it up so much, I honestly think Church’s Chicken does it better. Available every 2 Fridays. I’ve had other food from there and it’s pretty average. Much better choices in Yaletown, and all are steps away. I don’t recommend it and won’t be going back. 3 chances is plenty.
