Came here at 8:30 pm on a Saturday, and at first the restaurant had only about 3 tables with customers inside, which worried us. But as soon as we sat down and ordered, at least 6 more groups came in after and the restaurant became nearly full. Service is prompt and efficient. We each ordered a beef noodle(A1 on the menu). There is a choice of small($ 8.50) or large($ 9.50). There is also a choice of the type of noodle. I don’t remember all 4 of the choices but the first two were thick noodle or thin noodle. When I compared my small sized beef noodle to a large sized beef noodle, they had the same number of beef pieces(5). I believe the difference between the small and large is just more noodle. It is a significant difference too, I think. Although the beef was tender, the broth was flavourful and tasty, and the noodles were cooked right, I think it was too salty. It left my mouth feeling dry and my throat wanting water. I did like how it came topped with fresh chopped greens and pickled cabbage. There were also a few pieces of leafy greens in the bowl. We also ordered an appetizer salty peppery chicken nugget. This was a good size for the price, and the taste was all right. Overall, if I’m craving beef noodle, this is a satisfactory choice. I will probably be back again, but not in the near future.

Close to 2.5 stars, mainly because the washrooms were filthy and disgusting. I also felt a bit queasy after eating here. Also, the front glass doors are so dirty that I could barely see through them. Food was ok. It was mainland china’s version of beef noodles, not taiwanese style imho. Servers spoke to us in English even tho we responded in Chinese. Don’t know why. Usually, it’s the other way around lol. The noodles were good, but they hadn’t soaked in the soup’s flavor. The soup was adequate. The meat was soft and tender, but strangely lukewarm compared to the soup. Looks like the components of the dish weren’t heated up in the same pot for long enough.

New management? Waitress says same management but noodles is much improved. Came here because of its rarely crowded and surprised to find new menu and brighter interior — same décor but must be better light bulbs. Ordered the A3 large beef tendon noodles large and the soup was much thicker than before. Would return again.

I ordered the beef brisket noodle soup with thick noodles in the small size. It was a good portion for me and it allowed me to order another side so I also ordered their Shanghai dumplings. I know this is a Taiwanese restaurant but I was craving for xiao long bao. The noodles were good but I wasn’t a fan of their xiao long bao. The dumpling skin was too thick and there were barely any soup filled inside. For next time, I will just stick with their specialty Taiwanese dishes instead. I don’t have much to say about the service because it was just me and another table finishing up. Street parking and they do accept cards :)

Maybe we caught them on a good day because all the negative reviews were not the case with our visit. It was odd that on a Saturday night, we were only the third table. Usually empty places on weekends scare me but having been here many times, I wasn’t too concerned — it’s always been like that for me on every visit. I ordered a beef noodle soup with vermicelli and it was delicious. It was reminiscent of home. I actually found the broth not as potent as the stuff back home but it was close enough. I didn’t want to risk a visit to Chef Hung’s as I had food poisoning from there on my last visit. The beef pancake roll was delicious as usual. Not as good as in Taiwan but better than a lot of places I’ve had it in Vancouver. It wasn’t as greasy as other places and there was plenty of beef and sauce. The minced pork rice was huge for the price you pay and it was delicious. Not as garlic-y and sweet as I like but everyone makes it differently. The lemon green tea was good — perfectly lemon-y and sweet. Can’t really complain when it’s a basic green tea done properly. I’d come back because having tried a lot of stuff on the menu(beef pot stickers, marinated meats etc), I actually like this place. It’s not ridiculously busy or loud like Corner 23(great food too, I’m not complaining) and is cheaper and tastes just as good for these similar items.

I didn’t check the other Unilocal reviews before coming here, and when I finally got around to it, I was surprised the ratings were so low. This was my first visit, and I had a small bowls of beef noodle soup with thin noodles. The beef was tender and flavorful, the noodles were chewy, and the brothers strong. I like the pickled vegetables and onions, too. My tea was filled regularly, service was prompt. And the prices seem quite reasonable. What’s not to like?

I don’t think I would ever return to this restaurant, unless some unfortunate friend decided to hold an event here. Me and my beau ordered the same thing but different sizes, one spicy one not. My order was forgotten till we reminded the girl working there 20mins+ after my guy had gotten his dish and we almost finished. She went to the back and there was a lot of yelling in Mandarin about this and that. She shuffles back to apologize and said the order was coming. The place had 5 tables occupied out of many. The one girl working the till, serving and busing didn’t seem like she wanted to be there at all. There were many tables with dirty dishes waiting to be cleared. Which as there from when we arrived to the time we left. She couldn’t decided to make more tea /cleaning behind the counters or clearing the tables /wiping the tables. Although she did apologize for the forgetting of the order, my stomach didn’t forgive it at all. Although it was tasty … it somehow upset my stomach more to have eaten it then to have not. To the workers of this restaurant: Don’t result to loud yelling between waitress and cook. Everyone in the restaurant can hear EVERYTHING. It doesn’t add to the environment of your restaurant. To the server: If you don’t like working in the food servicing industry — get out. You aren’t doing the restaurant you work for any good. *I’m honest, being VERYHONEST* It isn’t too hard to clear a table under 2 minutes. To dump all dishes and bowls in the largest bowl, stacking all cups together and bringing them in to the back to get washed. Better yet, here’s a tip ~ convince your restaurant to get a manageable plastic tub that can assist you in clearing off tables faster. You can just place all dirty dishes and cups and bowls in and take it to the back so it’s not sitting on tables for 30−40mins after the customer has left.

The noodle was nice and chewy, especially the wide ones. The soup is rather oily and full of spices. Perhaps for those more used to having a flavourful soup it’s a good thing. I have went to hung’s in the past in Aberdeen and compared to that the soup here is very heavy and greasy. The sour cabbage(sorry not sure of the correct name) come in the bowl and do not make it easy for people who do not like it. My boyfriend had that look on his face when it saw that it’s all together in a bowl. Overall the place is not bad, it’s very quiet so if you do not like crowded place this would be a nice option. Food is not great but not bad either. Because it’s heavy, you will get the after taste in your mouth for some time…

How is this place still in business? It’s a Friday evening and the place is EMPTY. Come to think of it, every time I walk past this place it’s deserted — now I know why. Based on the feedback from fellow Unilocalers, it looks like the service has not changed one bit. If anything it’s gotten worse, if that’s even possible. Besides the non existent service, they were«sold out» of everything we tried to order, including beverages?! I guess they don’t care about our business either. With the abundance of all the amazing«noodle houses» in the city, this place is a joke. Their beef brisket noodles were so stale, the broth so greasy that my stomach is still angry after a few hours. Bottom line: 2 Wangs don’t make a right! I will not be back and do not recommend this place at all.

Restaurant Food taste ok. But the 2 Ladies service is very bad. They are not friendly. We ordered Taiwanese dumpling, Pork Rice, Sour Spicy Soup etc. Sour Spicy Soup came first: I asked Lady A to get me 2 small bowls and 2 spoons for sharing the Sour & Spicy Soup with my friend. She only brought 2 bowls to our table. OK fine. I thought she did not hear well. I went to the counter to ask Lady B to have 2 spoons. When I went back to my table, I found out 2 spoons were someones’ used spoons and they are very dirty(noodle soup vegetable sticking on). After that, I asked Lady A again to get me 2 spoons. Wow She came up to only give me 1 spoon. What is wrong with them, Sour & Spicy Soup is not allowed for sharing? Horrible services We never go this restaurant anymore.

mobile review Went to this restaurant for the first time on Monday. And I must say the two girl servers were extremely rude. Seemed like they didn’t want to be there. When bringing out orders to the table, instead of telling us what order it was and placing it to the correct person, they just placed the noodle on the edge of the table and walked away. Given that there’s 4 of us at this table, we had figure it out ourselves who’s order it was. They both did this for all of our orders. We found this to be extremely poor customer service. Food was ok, we had no complaints there, but with the horrible service, we will not be back again.

Even after 2 years, it looks like the service here is still non-existent. Some businesses just don’t learn. With that said, the food here is just as good as the last time I was here. And by good I mean decent, but nothing special.

I’m not sure if it was just the one time, or if Wang’s has made their portions smaller, but I noticed on my last trip there that the amount of noodles was a lot less than what I’ve had before. I really like the dan dan noodles here because they’re not overly peanut-y and they’re not swimming in sauce. They’re supposed to be spicy but I didn’t find them to be spicy at all. Service is still pretty slow.

Update ** Came to this location again, this time for dinner and ordered the regular beef noodle soup. The soup was Luke warm, the pickles were cold, beef was not tender. Pot stickers were hot on the inside but on the soggy side outside Tea was filled regularly +++ The quality is more consistent at the Granville location.

I’ve tried their spicy beef noodle for and loved the soft noodle and tender beef inside it. Only downside was service was bit slow and had to wait until server brings me a cup of tea. Anyways that was such a delicious beef noodle I’ve ever had.

As disappointing as my firstborn. I have been here multiple times and compared to the Granville location(or any other reasonable restaurant, even), the service is atrocious. I would go as far as non-existent as fashionable corduroy. In my most recent last experience, the server walked past me three times while I waited to be seated until I asked for a table. Her eyes were downcast behind the counter, presumably on her phone, leaving us with no water/tea, no utensils, and no menus. After twenty minutes, I literally had to call out to her if we could order. We were one of the few patrons they had that evening; the least I ask for is some customer service. You can call it a sitdown restaurant, but for all my purposes it might as well be a self-serve cafeteria. More tea? Walk up to the counter to inquire. Chili oil or hot sauce? You won’t get it sitting at your table. Even the bill request and payment was an inconvenience. The menu is based off the original Granville location. Food is delicious. Portions are substantial. The Spicy Pig Ears and the Kelp Seaweed are my choice recommendations for appetizers, and I never have a visit without their A2: Spicy Beef Noodle with Thick Noodle — extra spicy. I would rather, however, be inconvenienced by going across town to the other location than to experience another visit here. See you later. Not.

This place is the perfect place to go to if you are in the mood for some hot noodle soup when the weather is cold and when you are feeling sick. They have a variety of choices on the menu and I must say that each one I have tried, the chicken nugget noodles and the beef noodles, were amazing. They hit the spot and they tasted heavenly. The service is decent, but the waiters and waitresses were all generally friendly from my experiences. I would totally recommend this place! Not to mention, they have bubble tea! Yum!

So. Great. Tofu, seaweed, pork dumplings… everything we had was amazing. Nothing was carelessly made, or greasy, and all portions were just right. They refilled our tea cups as needed, and the place had a quiet atmosphere. They’re open late.

This is my first time at Wang’s beef noodle house on Cambie location. It just opened for a month and I wasn’t impressed. The food was ok and service better than Granville Street. We ordered an appetizer as cold dish: Cold cucumber in chili sauce was tasteless, not sour and not chili Marinated beef stripe was served in hot, it’s wired! Marinated sliced beef was so dry. Beef brisket noodle was delicious Steamed pork dumplings was dry and hard as a rock!
