White Spot

Best white spot I’ve ever visited. The staff is always super friendly and the vibe is very warm, no matter what time of day. Food has always been consistently the best of all white spots I’ve visited. Best burger, best salads, and best breakfasts. The only thing that was just «ok» was the waffle… But then again why the f am I ordering a waffle when I could have a BC sunny start?!
We’ll be back for sure!

I always have negative thoughts about White Spots. But I have to say the Kitsilano one is one of the better ones. We came here for a family dinner and I really enjoyed the food. My mom said her Ribs was really done very well. The meat fell of the bone and was full of flavor. Her chicken was the same. The salad had the perfect amount of dressing. My sister ordered the same thing as well but the rib was honey garlic. She loved it.
My other sister ordered fettuccine alfredo with chicken. She finished the whole thing and said it was delicious.
I wanted something light and so I got the Chicken Quesadilla. Was tiny bit burnt but it was ok. Very yummy.
I liked the fact when we walked in and they told us how long the wait was and how long the wait is going to be for the food. I just like how there is no surprise. This is definitely a plus.
Since this restaurant is in my hood. I will come often for dinner.

I wish I had read the reviews and saw the pictures posted! I was there just barely 4 hours ago and I already have bad stomach ache, discomfort and diarrhea!!! The burger tasted very bad actually I couldn’t finish it and I regret paying every penny! It was total $ 20 with tips!!! Aghhhhh I feel so stupid for thinking about having that burger!!! Never ever again! I hope I don’t get worse!!!

May 8^th update: An awesome Elite Unilocaler sent me this eye-​opening link on this White Spot location. No wonder we got food poisoning here! Here’s the inspection report on this White Spot location (click the Re-​Inspection links):

May 5^th update on review: All 4 of us got sick (the 5^th girl didn’t eat) after getting take-​out at White Spot Kitsilano. I got my friend to file feedback on this to their website and the manager, Añu, called her today on May 5^th. I got my friend to put the call on speaker phone at work so both of us could listen in. The manager seemed annoyed and disbelieving us, saying to us, «We served over 1000 patrons that day and you are the only complaints (or there were no other complaints).» The manager also had some attitude in her voice because she said she «didn’t want to be dealing with all 4 of us sending her reports». That was very rude. My friend looked at me and I motioned to her to finish the call and forget further continuing the conversation. I kept mouthing to her, «Cut the call. Cut the call.» I taught my friend just now how to Block Añu’s work and cell phone number so she won’t receive any further calls from Añu (Añu had left her two voicemails prior to this speaker phone call). But my friend gets any possible further phone calls on this, my family works for RCMP, so I can file for harassment if that does happen. We didn’t want compensation or any gift (and we even re-​iterated that point), but the manager kept sounding angry over the phone. Now, I don’t think this place is worth reporting. I don’t feel like helping others who give me attitude. But I will leave a review here of my experience:
I came here on May 3^rd with a group of 5 people for take-​out. Four of us ordered. Three people out of the group had eaten nothing before this meal (me, my husband, a friend), and my husband and I ate nothing after. So this meal for my husband and myself was our one and only meal for that day (it was a busy day). About an hour after this meal, I felt a little discomfort but didn’t think on it too much. But about 2 – 3 hours in when I got home, I started to feel slight cramping on my sides and lower back (at that point, I knew it was food poisoning because that’s how I hurt when I get it). I also had to pay a few unlucky visits to the washroom. I had only hot tea at home to soothe my stomach. My husband’s was much worse. At about 6 — 7 hours in, he had the painful stomach, nausea, and running to the washroom. I don’t know whether this is food poisoning, or if the food handler at White Spot was sick and passed us something. Let me tell you this though: when you have food poisoning, the washroom is your BEST friend.
I’ve uploaded a photo of my receipt so you can see the items we ordered and ate, but I’ve covered personal details with my phone’s stickers. I don’t have photos of my friends’ receipts since their receipts are with them. I’ve texted my friends just now to see if they are sick too (it’s 1am right now as I am typing this so I’m sure they are sleeping), and will update this review when they get back to me on their health status. I am so disappointed with this event. I usually like White Spot and I dine at the Richmond ones frequently, but this experience in Kitsilano was horrible.
I don’t hate on White Spot for this, but whoever was making or handling our orders, if you are reading this, answer this in your mind:
a) Are you washing your hands?
b) Are you sick and coming into work infecting customers?
c) Did you rush our orders under-​cooking the food or having food contamination happen?
d) Are you knowingly serving dirty, expired, or old food, or not refrigerating items properly?
Was anyone sick after eating at this White Spot location on May 3^rd, Sunday afternoon? Send me a private message if you see this. We think it might actually be the Caesar salad, since this was the common thing we ate. My friends suspect the burger meat since we also ordered that as well. We ordered Take-​Out and we were surprised at how extremely fast it came out, so I wonder if the meats weren’t well done.
Please note that the receipt I uploaded is not the only items we purchased. There was a total of 3 separate receipts, but I don’t have access to the other two receipts since they belonged to my friends. But White Spot can check in their system the time and date of the take out orders.

I love this place. Especially when I get the server name Mark. The guy is great, friendly and seems to enjoy what he does (if he doesn’t he’s a hell of an actor).
I went to this place once a week for about 4 years. The service was almost always excellent. The worst part about this particular location is the front door area gets cramped while waiting for one’s table.

To the girl who took my phone order tonight and was so happy and positive — it was really appreciated and you are doing a terrific job. I have visited this location about 5 times over the years and have always been very impressed with the service. Kudos to those in charge of training, and to all the lovely people working here.

This place is not consistent. Sometimes it’s cold, stale and tasteless like tonight’s turkey dinner. Stale turkey.
The last time they had fast service hot food and it tasted great.
What happened???

Was completely ignored after sitting down for a while, service was not very good. My eggs had been under heat lamp for a long time. All in all bad Valentine’s Day breakfast and experience. I noticed other tables were also waiting on service for a while and there were some complaints.

Came in for dinner last Sat with a friend. The waiter was friendly but REALLY loud. And that’s how it was the whole time. Does the waiter know his voice is so loud. It was b orderline funny like an episode of Seinfeld! His service was good in the beginning. But we had to wait a LONG time to have our plates taken away. And their were only two parties in the whole room! Did I mention that we literally had to beg for more fries (endless fries). Also the Bellini comes premade in a slushy dispenser. They do not tell you this.
I ordered the Rib and chicken for 18 $. The portion was small… unfortunately I had to eat somewhere else afterwards. I think I’m finished with the White Spot. I felt ripped of… and it’s a feeling I don’t want to have again.

Terrible take-​out. Food cold and over-​cooked. Long wait times. Victim of its own success — they’ve let quality slip, BIG TIME. Stay away.

We went to the restaurant yesterday for lunch with my cousin’s family. They all had meat burgers, but I decided to have the salmon burger. We barely made it home and I was vomiting and later had diarrhea. I spent the rest of my day in the bathroom on the toilet and a can in front of me to vomit in. Service was fine, they made an error with one of the orders, but we accepted it, the shakes were great as was service. The salmon was not overcooked so i wonder how long it had been sitting around before it was prepared into my dish. I am home recovering today close to my bathroom. So sad.

Came here for thanksgiving dinner with family and the food was pretty bad even for white spot but the service was great.
For starter, we had the Caesar salad with grilled salmon. Wow was the salmon bad. Very dry and has the very fishy taste, signs of unfresh fish. I’m positive that this fish is definitely frozen or been stored in thawed form for a long time.
We had the turkey dinner, which tasted basically like the same turkey you get from airplanes or frozen dinner. The turkey meat tasted slightly stingy, kinda like spam, which is kinda weird.
We also had the ribs, which was hands down the worst I ever had in Vancouver. The meat was not marinaded well, tasted very blend inside. It was not cooked enough so that the meat would fall off like it should. The sauce was kinda stingy like the turkey meat?!? I don’t think its my tongue, but I think they use the same preservative as spams in these products.
My White spot’s favourite, the blueberry smoothie got slaughtered here as well. Maybe because its not the blueberry season, there was very little blueberry in there. Its basically a vanilla milkshake with the taste of cheap ice cream. Very disappointed.
Overall, I would not recommend this White spot to anyone. Maybe because it was a busy holiday, but there was simply no excuse of having unfresh fish or stingy food. I’d pay a few extra bucks and go to earls or cactus club if you want similar types of food.

I went there with wife and kid. Great service! No waiting time, waitress was very friendly.
Only drawback was she miscalculated the change and took an extra $ 10. Didn’t think she realized it.

of all the white spots on the west side – Oakridge, Kerrisdale, this one’s my favourite in terms of finding a bit more peace, openness and free parking too w/​lots of room. Still busy but nothing like the mall.

First timer here, we dont have a White Spot in California — i believe this is probably the Canadian Version of Red Robin.
We came here for breakfast — I ordered curry, very delicious dish! What’s cute is the kids meals come in little paper boats which makes it enjoyable for kids to eat — very kid friendly restaurant that looks fancy.

If you really need to read a review for White Spot… I feel sorry for you because it most likely means you haven’t eaten here yet. This has been my location of choice since I was a child and the service at this restaurant is always good.
White Spot serves comfort food — the burgers are pretty much the best and their menu is filled with things you would find in a diner — all well made and delicious. In recent years White Spot has tried to keep up with the Vancouver trend of healthy eating and they’ve spruced up their menu quite a bit. You can find fancy salads and gourmet this and that’s and they are very good as well. I’ll admit I’ve had a fantastic salad at white spot but the real reason to go there is the greasy stuff. Their burgers come with endless fries (that are usually super tasty) and a small serving of the most delicious coleslaw I’ve ever found. The milk shakes here are also the best. They serve up their shakes in those old school parlor style shake glasses and always give you the metal cup they were made in containing another full glass full. Go there, get a burger and enjoy your self.

I can’t say that I am an expert on the White Spot chain because this is pretty much the only one I have ever been to. I would not go out of my way to go to any other White Spot, but I have been to this one a lot. So what is it about this one that makes it so desirable? Proximity.
I think everyone needs a «no-​brainer» restaurant that is walkable from their home. If I am exhausted and don’t feel like cooking or dressing up — «let’s go to The Spot»! If the inlaws are in town and we need to go someplace where their extremely limited range of food «likes» can be met — «let’s go to The Spot»! When our very young niece and nephew are with us– «let’s go to The Spot»!
What I have learned about their food is to stick to the basics. Whenever they have a special menu based on a foreign cuisine, you are foolish to expect any semblance to the authentic cuisine. Their burgers, beef dip, pot pie and fish and chips are consistently decent. I usually substitute the sides for a Spot salad which is really tasty, I love the sunflower seeds and dried cranberries on top. I will also substitute with their yam fries which are very good.
This restaurant at times can be very busy. It is best to avoid coming between 5:30 — 7:00 because it is popular with the seniors and people with kids, who tend to dine earlier. A lot of the servers at this location have worked here for quite a few years and we have found the service to be adequate for this type of dining experience. Overall, I come in with very limited expectations so I never leave disappointed.

I came here with my fiancé after school to have a nice quiet sit down meal. It was really quiet at 5:30pm, which was nice.
I wasn’t really thrilled with our waitress. She seemed uninterested and bored and couldn’t be bothered to deal with us. She did get us drink refills and we were brought the bill in a decent amount of time, but the girl who brought out our salads was much more excited. On the note of the salads, it look a long time to get them after ordering (considering it was quiet in the restaurant, it shouldn’t have taken over 20 minutes). I ordered the Asian Chicken Salad because it was on the healthy choices menu, but it was a bit bland and the chicken was flavorless.
One thing I’ll never understand about the White Spot menu is that you can get wraps at some locations, but not others. I really could have gone for a wrap last night, but it wasn’t on the menu! Are all White Spots independently operated?
I do enjoy White Spot most of the time, but I was really underwhelmed at this location.

The last bastion of Car hop service. Aka the Drive-​in! Only at select white spots. This one has it.
It’s a bit of Vancouver dining history to at least eat in your car the White Spot way.
They slid a big tray of food between the two windows and you get to eat in the car!
Makes for a great steamy window environment! hah!
Burger combos are great for this, but would advise not to get the soup. If you do, just don’t spill it.
If you are paranoid of spilling stuff, then you can dine inside.
But you have to try this at least just once.
