I visited this restaurant a few days ago, ordered two lunch special which runs from 11 am to 4:30 pm, I believe. Maybe because they were busy, they asked me to pay first. For around $ 7.00 menu, which comes with soup too, I gave them I think generous tip of $ 4.00, beforehand. Portion was okay, soup was good, everything was good except Fried rice I ordered the meat was a little chewy. It was still quite good a deal of meal, I thought. So the next visit, which was on today, I ordered same two lunch special. And I mentioned to the waitress, last time the meat on the Fried rice was a little chewy. It seemed she didn’t understand me, so I explained her the meat on the Fried rice was little hard to chew, and I thought she understood. Again, it was pre-pay, so I tipped them $ 4.00. When I opened the take-out order, I found that the portion was quite smaller than last time. Especially for the Fried rice, which was way smaller portion than last time… Maybe it was insensitive from my side to mention that their meat on the Fried rice was a little chewy last time? Later I found that they have 10% discount for pickup order that day(and after few more days), and I remember I noticed I paid a little less than last time. So maybe it wasn’t right for me to tip them enough? Or maybe because it was 10% discount the portion was designed to be smaller, especially for the Fried rice? I don’t know. Do I think I will visit this place next time??? Of course not.

Tried their Yangzhou fried rice. Not bad at all. Maybe they updated their recipes, but this place is getting bumped to 3 stars. The restaurant hours sign in the window says they’re open on Tuesdays, but the hours sign on the door it says it’s closed. Which is it? The mystery deepens.

Looking for Chinese food in Marpole or thereabouts brought me here. Looking for simple Ginger Beef and Chicken fried rice. Got it. While this place certainly IS a hole in the wall, the food I got was certainly delicious!!! Would definitely come back!

I am on a quest for the best house chow mien. House chow mien should be the signature chow mien dish of said restaurant. The On-On was a 5. The Wok Inn in Kelowna being a 4.5. Octopus is the broccoli of seafood and Wo’s has tons(that’s not a good thing) and no broccoli at all. The mini Bok choi still had the stumps attached. The solitary shrimp was good and the noodles were slightly above mediocre.

It’s your typical Chinese greasy spoon diner. With old fashioned eats like Won Ton noodle soup and Congee with Chinese donuts, you can’t go wrong right? Unfortunately, with those classics comes a «healthy» dosage of oil and MSG. At least the price is VERY appealing though.

My go-to takeout place for Chinese, doesn’t seem as greasy as some others. The pineapple sweet and sour chicken is a favourite. They have really good hot and sour soup, fried rice, and chow mein. Their chop suey SO full of fresh veggies, highly recommend. Great specials as well, the dinner for one is a lot of food.

I was surprised with the rather generous portions and the food was actually quite good for this category of restaurant. I would come here when i work in the area. Their fried rice selections are quite good and the chow mein is good as well.

It’s your typical diner-style Chinese resto, average décor, had heard that they were famous for their beef brisket cooked w/lettuce in a clay pot, and it sure was very tasty the 1st time, but 2nd time, just tasty, so a bit inconsistent. What I like is the bite-size pieces, very tender, and definitely order rice to go along w/the soup base. Free parking in the back… it’s been there for years, right on corner of Main/Marine Drive beside the Bank of Montréal.
