I’m a serious BBQ addict. Summer means sipping cold sangria or home made iced tea, grilled meats and veggies sizzling on the BBQ followed up by more sangria or ice cream and fresh berries. I just recently discovered Marche Tondreau on my way to the library and found a hidden gem. apparently it’s been there for over 25 years and they must be doing something right. An amazing prepared meats counter, you will find marinated steaks, bavettes, kebabs, meals-to-go including ribs, roasted chicken, meat loaf or roasted pork, with grilled veggies and potatoes all for a grand total of $ 6.99. I think of it as an upscale depanneur. It has a selection of fruits and veggies, baguettes, wine, ice cream, pies and frozen, prepackaged sausages and meats as well. Prices are a little higher than your typical depanneur or super-market but the quality here is very impressive. They also offer pre-arranged meat plans, anywhere from $ 50 up to $ 150 which you can pick and choose what option you want. A $ 50 menu might include something like a chicken, a pack of sausages, a rasher of bacon, packs of hamburger meat and frozen drumsticks. You need to consult them about it but if you’re looking to save money on your groceries, it’s a great way to do it. Staff here are also very helpful which is always a plus.
