In Victoria for a weekend and decided to go for a browse since I’d also hit up Munros(a good store to check out). For anyone who loved Borders, loves Paperchase, or any fellow fans of stationary, journals, and just general knick knacks, this store is definitely worth a visit.

I love Chapters! I hate the location it is in, in Victoria due to the fact it’s where druggies and homeless people sleep and hangout. I would go there more and spend my money if it wasn’t where it is located.

Added an extra star because the manager is great but the rest of the staff sucks! I went in today and said I was told to come down and bring my kobo and have it looked at since the screen was frozen, but the cashier said no and this dolt of an employee on the floor who’s name started with A was the most unhelpful he acts like he’s a zombie and doesn’t seem very helpful. He came to the desk and He began jamming a sharp object into it saying he thinks this is how it’s done will moaning about how it wasn’t doing what he wanted it to. Then I asked for the manager and she came out and was very helpful and managed to fix it for me! I felt like the employees said what came to their minds when they should be trained better and know how to handle customers in a more polite fashion and be more accurate about what can and cannot be done. The manager there is great I must say she’s so kind and helpful. Follow her example!

didn’t think this kind of stuff would bother me. Today I was at Chapters where I do my book shopping and ordering. As I was at the front I over heard 3 staff members talking about a new staff members sexual orientation. Using words like FAG and cliché’s like well his ears are both pierced so he might be BI. and saying things like it will come out the answer won’t last for long. HELLO before this guy hits the floor he is already being hunted? If I wasn’t in my work shirt I would have said a few words. So with this being said I will no longer be ordering my books through this monster of a place.

What can I say? It’s Chapters. If you don’t know what Chapters is, you’ve been living under a rock. Huge selection of books, Starbucks upstairs, bathroom in the basement just past the kids books, slightly below MSRP prices. If you’re looking for a deal, try some of the used book stores nearby, or just order from the Chapters website(or Amazon) for a much greater discount.

Their sections are a bit scattered, but I found everything I wanted, and more! Loads of local authors and British galore, so I was in heaven!

Sometimes those large bookstores are good for something. Trying to find a full day of things to do in downtown Victoria on a RAINY day that will not stop is quite difficult. So thank goodness for Chapters. It is a ginormous tri-level bookstore on Douglas Street. Chapters and Munro’s on Government are the two bookstores of note in downtown. The selection at Chapters is the best in town. Plenty of bargain books and they also carry a mix of side products like soaps, teas and school supplies and a small selection of CDs and DVDs. The top level has a nice café serving Starbucks drinks. Nice low key spot to unwind over coffee and surf the Web using the wi-fi while the rain poured outside. If you like book shopping, starting your search at Chapters would make the most sense.
