Food is delicious, service is awesome, layout is a bit odd. Would like to see this place open more often seems to be closed more than open ‚??

This has been and remains one of my favourite restaurants in Victoria for breakfast and lunch. Food is outstanding, fresh, local, and always fantastically prepared. Changes recently with an expanded breakfast menu and new items for lunch have been a great addition. Everything made from scratch and no matter what I order I am pleased. I am never disappointed at Relish. Just wish it was open 7 days a week and for dinner too!

Ya know when a restaurant opens in an area that some consider less desirable my social instincts are to check them out. I am glad I did. You will be too. Great food.

Came in for brunch today and it was delicious. The restaurant is quite small but they seated us very quickly and it was very comfortable. The service was very quick and I enjoyed the semi open kitchen showing off the recently baked goodies. Their menu is somewhat limited but there were so many delicious options. I stuck with my usual eggs Benedict, however their’s is served with house smoked pork, a tomato chutney, potatoes and greens. The house smoked pork wasn’t quite what I was expecting, for some reason I was thinking shredded or chunked smoked pork butt or something, instead it was like a thick cut piece of lightly smoked pork, like ham. It was still tender and delicious, I think the wording could just be improved. The hollandaise was delicious, very rich. The English muffin was standard, tender and good. My complaint is the eggs were over medium hard, not the greatest, would have liked that runny yoke. I really liked the tossed greens, the acidic dressing really cut through the hollandaise. Same with the tomato chutney, was sweet and acidic and was a nice compliment. Others in my party had the shakshuka with fig bread and the black cod sandwich, which they also enjoyed. Would definitely come back again.

Going into Relish was a complete fluke, but I was so glad that my company and I came here for breakfast! We loved the character that the servers had and the cool wooden table. I was uncomfortable about the shared table experience but I didn’t end up feeling very close to the strangers beside me. The food was beyond what I was expecting, we even ordered dessert after breakfast. We had ordered completely different things and felt the same way, the food was amazing. The coffee was horribly watery though.

My friends and I visited Victoria last week and Relish was recommended by an acquaintance. I had the house-made gnocchi here and it was absolutely delicious. My friend had the club sandwich and loved it so much he bought another one. The food came quickly after we ordered and the service was great — I’d definitely recommend Relish to anybody visiting or living in Victoria. I’ll be back!

Chicken Katzu is delish! Fresh friendly joint in Victoria — hipster vibe, small and understated but great fresh food and good tunes.

So amazingly fresh! Everything tastes homemade and delicious. I’ve never been disappointed here, except for when I came in Monday and they were closed:( I can’t think of another place in the city that rivals this lunch spot. The biggest worry you’ll have here is not being able to decide what to order:)

My wife and I(from San Francisco) discovered Relish during the recent 2013 Victoria Fringe Festival. It became our 12-meals-in-12-days(!) kitchen home away from home: amazing farm-to-table local ingredients, artfully, creatively, deliciously prepared, always incredible. The kind of food where you can’t NOT take a picture of it, then eat every last delicious crumb and speck and then lick the plate! Very friendly staff. Can’t recommend Relish more highly. We dream about going back! Breakfast. Lunch. Saturday brunch. ALL stupendous!

Our waiter at Brasserie L’ecole recommended this restaurant if we wanted excellent food. He was right. Check out my photos, and my husband’s review here:

The food was mind blowing, yet the place is very low key. We came for brunch and ordered the bread pudding french toast and the eggplant tagine with 2 eggs and pork loin added. The french toast was absolutely decadent. It could have been served as a desert, and nutritionally was basically equivalent. Definitely don’t get that if you are on a diet. The tagine was phenomenal. There was a lot of attention to detail, such as the absolutely yummy grilled/dried tomatoes. Adding the eggs and pork definitely helped make it more interesting and tasty. It was much more healthful than the french toast. My only(minor) quibble is that the espresso drinks were not as top notch as the food, although they were perfectly sufficient.

Relish is a fantastic addition to Victoria’s weekday daytime food scene. It’s rare for a gourmet eatery to entice me with a vegetarian sandwich, but Relish did so, and delivered. The sandwich consisted of a soft goat cheese, a curried carrot salad, and an almond-lentil pâté on a roll that reminded me of that super-fluffy pita that some Greek restaurants serve, but with a slightly crustier outside. Each individual component of the sandwich was distinctive and delicious, the sum was actually greater than its parts. I look forward to trying Relish’s meatier offerings: Despite my delicious sandwich, I still have some qualms: 1) While I appreciated the complexity of my sandwich, I did not enjoy waiting 20 minutes for the sandwich, even with Relish’s decent amount of reading material. If I had more time, that would be a completely different story, as the atmosphere is pleasant. Relish is not for anybody in a rush. 2) While I would like to be one of those sandwich eaters who can ensure that every morsel stays within the surrounding bread, I am not. The sandwich fillings then fall on a plate and I enjoy using a fork to eat them. However, Relish keeps its forks behind the counter and nobody was tending to the counter when I wanted one. I then used my hands to finish what had fallen on my plate. This is a testament to the food’s deliciousness. 3) While I enjoy gourmet ingredients, not everybody with whom I enjoy eating lunch does. Relish strikes me as a place that would scoff at modifying any components of its dishes, but I may be completely wrong.

I stop at Relish often in the morning for a muffin on the way to work, I particularly recommend the Blueberry-cinnamon muffin. Their coffee is roasted by Discovery Coffee, and they do a pretty good job of making it into a cappuccino. I haven’t had their breakfast sandwich yet but my friend speaks highly of it. The décor is warm, fresh, and comfortable without feeling cluttered and ‘cozy’(no clichéd burlap coffee sacks or eclectic secondhand furniture here), perfect for a cool autumn morning.
