The Old Spaghetti Factory

I’ve been here a few times and had good experiences each time. The price is great for the children’s menu, and pretty good for adult menu. I had the seafood fettucini alfredo and it was delicious. Great service and food was hot.

We came here the day before my half ironman to get pasta and because it was very close to our hotel.
At 5:30 pm, the place was packed. We snagged a seat at the bar, which I recommend if it is only two of you.
Being a chain, you know what you are going to get. It’s pasta and it’s going to work. Nothing gourmet, but safe pre-​race food! Prices are super affordable. And all is included: bread, salad, meal and a scoop of ice cream.

Went there awhile ago and I have to say they have gone way downhill. I use to love coming here all the time and so when we went there the last time I was quite shocked at how bad it had gotten I don’t even know where to start. I had ordered a kids meal as well as mine and my husbands. My daughter who is four was given the same portion sizes as myself and my husband which was ludicrous and when we received our salad it was an over heaping plateful of brown wilted salad. I sent mine back because I wasn’t going to eat that and my daughter was so overwhelmed she didn’t even bother with it. And I wasn’t going to make her eat brown salad. I finally get my «tortellini» and the chicken they put on it was so dry and burnt tasting I couldn’t even pretend to enjoy myself and the sauce tasted so bad I ended up sending my whole meal back and didn’t get anything else. My daughter didn’t want hers but we had to give her something so she ate two bites. I can definitely say I will never go back there again which is too bad because it use to be my favourite place.

Excellent service, great food, nice place for family dinner. My kids likes that place.

We went for family dinner here on Monday December 14^th. As usual, this location never disappoints. Staff are friendly (almost all of them seem genuinely so). Friends and family have ordered various dishes — all seem good. I only ever order the Spaghetti with Mizithra (previously called Spaghetti with Browned Butter a la Homer). The table placemats say that OSF Mizithra cheese is now from a local (BC)/family-owned producer, using 100% Canadian milk. The portions of Mizithra are always generous.
Soon after being seated, a wooden board arrives with a small loaf of warm bread, a cutting knife, and 2 metal cups of both plain butter and garlic butter. Don’t worry if there’s enough to go around — the loaves are cheerfully refilled! You then choose between Minestrone Soup, or small green salad with choice of dressings. I usually order the salad with Blue Cheese dressing. The dressing is tangy and not watered-​down (like some places). To finish the meal, you are offered ice cream and coffee or tea.
This is a very popular busy location, especially at dinner time, or when special events are on in downtown Victoria. That being said, we’ve only waited up to 30 minutes before a table became available. The level of customer service is quite high, with frequent checks by the servers. Don’t let the reasonable prices fool you — Spag Factory as my family calls it — makes for a great dining-​out experience! They deliver delicious food and super service for one all-​inclusive price!

The fettuccine my husband ordered were delicious according to him. I had the mussels which were fresh but the broth tasted too much like wine. The shrimp were delicious tho.

I have always had a great experience here, keep coming back for the great food, friendly staff, and awesome value!

I’m giving this joint 5 stars because, although they came apologetically late with my first dinner, the follow up service was über-​valued, overwhelming. You have to appreciate customer service that can handle a little diversity. The food is great and reasonably priced, love the Ricards red on tap. They put together a custom pasta order for my picky motherinlaw which she chowed on. We were only in Victoria two nights but we patronized this restaurant both nights. The second dinner went without a hitch with excellent service.

We are a late lunch/​early dinner there, around 4pm so they were not too busy. Service was nice, food came out pretty quickly, it was a good value for the price but food was just ok. We ordered a lasagne (just average), chicken Parmesan (which was pretty good) and kids spaghetti with meatballs. My kid liked it but the meatballs were nothing special.
Bread, salad, soup, ice cream that came with the meal and the nice patio made up for the mediocre food so 4 stars overall.

For $ 55 (before tip), how could you go wrong in feeding 5 people? All meals come with coffee/​tea, salad/​soup and ice cream. You also get bread to chomp on before your meal. Portions are a decent size.

For a inexpensive date night or family dinner — I recommend this place. The meal start with bread/​garlic butter, soup or salad, your entrée, ice cream and coffee or tea. I ended up taking some of the Tortellini home because I was so stuffed (I shouldn’t have asked for the second loaf of bread!). Warning though, this place is BUSY but they seem to know what they are doing to keep the a good flow. Great location too!

Wouldn’t eat here again. Ordered lasagna and spaghetti, it taste like something I could make at home. Service was good.

I would not eat here again. We had take out Alfredo and a kids meal. Quantity was very small, maybe a cup of noodles if that. The Alfredo tasted terrible we actually threw it away. I thought it was weird that at the bar they had their cherries and pickled asparagus in one of those barbicide disinfectant containers used in hair salons?!? I am sure there is restaurant equipment that would work just as well and be more presentable.
Kids meal was ok too.

We were visiting Victoria and decided to have lunch at the this place just because we’d tried it at different locations before. We somehow know what to expect. Sure enough we had a pleasant dining experience. I asked the waitress that if I could have a small serving of spaghetti. She gave suggestions on what to order. I ended up with kids serving and I opted for mushroom sauce as she suggested. My friend ordered manicotti pasta. My craving for pasta has been satisfied. We were both happy with our pasta.
The 3 stars is for the salty French onion soup. We had to ask the to replace it to salad which they gladly obliged.
I’ll come back to this place.

Good, fast, and friendly service, the old spaghetti factory is an enjoyable place to dine.
I love the booth style seating which is really conductive to conversation for groups.
The food itself is pretty stock standard but it’s tasty and there is something on the menu for everyone.
At the price, with bread, a starter, and ice cream included, it’s definitely a winner

Food is delicious and very good quantity. They serve bread & butter, soup or salad and a Deseret or tea/​coffee with every meal.
I grabbed a drink too and it was very well made.

We visit this establishment about twice a year when we have family in from out of town with multiple children in tow. The kids love it and so do we. Food is reliable, consistently tasty and usually filling. Not the best pasta or Italian by any means but consistent and good. The value here is unmatched given the full meal all-​inclusive approach with appy, main and desert included for one very fair price. The unlimited warm sourdough bread with beautifully whipped butter is also a very nice touch. The Italian ice cream for desert is also excellent. The French onion soup is great as are the pasta dishes. We have never experienced a bad meal here and the service has always been friendly and efficient. The food is by no means gourmet, but it is usually good. Serving sizes are decent too, but not huge.
The room is also very nice with a number of seemingly separate rooms and sections on different levels with exposed brick walls which give it some character.
You can tell they are doing things right by the perpetual line out the door to get in and the always packed to capacity dining room.
We will return and recommend for those dining with children.

So good! Despite having a party of 20 walk in before us (5), they got us in in 5min, got our food to us fast and it was delicious. Definitely a favourite place of mine in Victoria from being a kid.

The Gastown location with the street car is the best! I do remember the bread being better back in the day, like it just came out of the oven all crispy-​like! Love the salad with French dressing! The Spinoni is better now as there are no little candied fruits anymore! Overall yumminess!

I don’t think its fair to downrate the Old Spaghetti Factory because it is just a spaghetti house because that is what it is trying to be. Mass production, in and out, get your spaghetti with meat sauce, cheese, or meat balls. Free minestrone and spumoni. Good buy. I hope you enjoyed your meal.
So why four stars? The spaghetti itself is good. I can’t say that it is truly freshly made, but it tastes like it. The toppings are also fine if not spectacular. The service is fast and polite.
It is what it is, but it is good at what it is.
