Went here after checking out the bars on Government St while touring Victoria. Had no idea what to expect, but was recommended this place by a friend. The place is pretty basic. It has some booths and tables to sit at. A third of their area is their kitchen. It’s self-serve, so you order at the counter and bus your tables. The service was friendly but slow. It took a pretty long time for one waffle to be ready, and the place was half empty. When we got there, there were a lot of glasses and paper napkins at many of the tables, so we weren’t sure if they were occupied or available. We sat at one of them and moved the glasses out of the way. However, no employee picked up anything or cleaned any of the tables while we were there. Also, they were out of water in their jug, and they took a pretty long time refilling that. The waffles were pretty meh. I got a blueberry peach waffle, which was sort of bland. That was a plain waffle topped with peaches and blueberries. The peaches were canned and I didn’t like them. Blueberries were fresh though. They have savory waffles as well, but we weren’t too hungry so didn’t try them. Prices are pretty decent, around $ 13 – 15 per waffle with tips. I wouldn’t recommend this place unless you absolutely love waffles, or would like something to eat late at night on weekends, possibly after hitting the bars. I personally wouldn’t go again.

Great place for breakfast, everything was well done! Staff super friendly and the place was quite busy, the popularity is good evidence of the great quality.

All they do is waffles. If you’re jones-ing for a waffle, this is the place so to be. If you do not care for waffles, stay away. Now, if you are waffle-curious, you better show up and prepare to have your mind expanded on what a waffle can be. They have sweet waffles, savory waffles, waffles made of other waffles with waffle toppings(ok, I made that last one up). In seriousness, this is a quintessential college-town staple, where folks can feel young again now matter your age or how serious life has gotten. Have a waffle, be care free!

I have to give this 3 stars only because the service could have been better but the food was delicious! Weren’t told how ordering works so we sat and just waited. Not to mention as we walked in my husband almost fell(it was raining that day) and the gentleman instead of asking if he was ok he laughed. That was a great impression for being the first place we went into just landing from Vancouver, WA. The female waiter had her friends there chatting not sure if she was on lunch but would’ve been nice to check in on the tables she was serving. Suggestion: get new servers!

Pretty good waffles, but too expensive for what you get.

Great waffles and great service but so many flies inside! We were constantly swatting away at them instead of enjoying our amazing waffles. The place was pretty clean overall however, it was probably just the open door and the sweet syrup that attracted them. Easy 5 stars for the waffles, but I have to deduct one for the bugs. Trying to guard your food is not a fun game to play.(Also the free wifi is an awesome bonus when you’re from outside of Canada and want to use your phone for a bit.)

Found this place on Unilocal, and I’m happy we went. Best waffle I’ve had in awhile, and might I say, the sweetest! I got the nutella waffle. Had nutella, with whipped cream, and maple syrup! Too die for. The little girl I nanny, got the chocolate banana waffle. She loved it! Our total came out to $ 21 and some change. Totally worth the two waffles. Environment was friendly, as well and place was easy to find.

$ 10 for a single waffle is simply ridiculous. Definitely jealous of the business owners — profit margins on food must be fantastic! Anyone can make a waffle, sprinkle some cut up fruit on top, and spray some whipped cream over it. You can make more of it yourself at home and you can do it for ¼th of the cost. You go up and order, and if you want more coffee you need to walk up to the counter with your mug. I don’t have a huge problem with this, but it’s annoying and tedious for a place where I’m paying a full meal’s price. Would not recommend. You don’t get your money’s worth.

We won’t be going back. My husband and I had high hopes for this place and when we walked in, it was crowded with customers at all the tables. As we looked at the wall menu, the cashier shouted to anyone wanting to order, it would be a 40 minute wait on batter. Some people left. We asked about the gluten-free buckwheat waffles and she said they had that batter. It took about 25 minutes to get our order. It looked nice, but tasted like flaky cardboard. There should have been bacon and cheese in the waffle, but we didn’t taste it. We were served dirty looking cutlery and my husband wasn’t given a knife because they were all dirty. I didn’t get a plate because they were out. It was overpriced and disappointing. Fortunately, we found a MUCH better place for food after this sad experience.

First think I noticed was that the music was way too loud. I can understand a noisy atmosphere in a very large crowded restaurant, but this small store could have easily had their tunes turned down a few notches. The employees obviously had it up so they could dance and sing along to their hearts content, but it did nothing to create a comfortable atmosphere for the customer. The waffles were good. Nothing special in my opinion, though. I’m a little more partial to crepes. They serve drinks in mason jars, because why the hell not. Its a nice local business being run the way it wants to, but I don’t think I’ll be returning simply because I like to be able to hear the person next to me when we intentionally go out to be in each others company.

I don’t know if this was really delicious or I was just very hungry. But in all honesty, it was good, a nice waffle place with a modern flare. It’s fully staffed with young guys, kinda like a Five Guys, which generally attracts a lot of young ladies. Nonetheless, they provide great service to any age and any gender. I went with 3 of my friends, 2 of us got savoury(chicken one and pizza) and then the other 2 got something sweet. We then split all the waffles into 4(easy enough) so that we could try each one. I particularly liked the chicken one :) it was well made and the chicken pieces were flavoured all the way through. We ordered a serving of frozen yogurt to go. I could definitely taste the healthy/real-fruitness as it was nothing like a Menchies frozen yogurt.

Absolutely love this place! Always stop by when I’m back in Victoria. It’s right next to the Bay Centre, so it’s incredible easy to find. The waffles are delicious and there’s so many different flavours to choose from. From the savoury menu, the Wake ‘N Bacon, the Salmon King and Johnny Mac are the ones I would recommend. As for the sweet and fruit waffles, they’re all worth trying, but my personal favourites are the Blueberry Walnut, the Chocolate Almond Chunk and Lemon Strawberry Flax. These are pretty big servings, so brunch is the probably the best time to enjoy a visit to this waffle place.

THE most delicious waffle I’ve ever had in my life. I’m visiting Victoria, BC from Orange County, CA and wanted something for brunch. So why not waffles? I looked it up and it was in walking distance of my hotel(most everything is in downtown Victoria). The staff was very friendly and helped me pick out my waffle. Their payment systems in Canada are different to the ones in mathematics US so it took a couple tries and he was very patient with me. I will be telling anyone and everyone that come to Victoria they MUST try West Coast Waffles.

Expect to pay $ 10+ for a waffle and be adventurous in your selection. The staff were wonderful. My only complaint was that the listed hours on their website were wrong so I had to wait for them to open.

Not to be too sassy, but my friend and I are from the west coast and do not consider these waffles anything special. My take on it was that it was over-priced for what we got. Maybe it is more of an issue with the concept of putting lots of different kinds of food on waffles; I simply was not a fan. I got one with salsa, eggs, lettuce and cheese, and it would have been better separately. I don’t see why they need to put a waffle on every single dish, just because it is in their name. My friend got a tropical fruit smoothie, which I sampled and it tasted like ice blended with apple juice. However, the service was really friendly. In terms of the atmosphere and ambience, it is definitely geared toward college-age kids and is open late for that crowd. However, my friend and I thought the décor was trying a bit too hard. It seemed like an older person had decorated for what they thought the«youths» would like. To be honest, we were visitors who were reeled into coming here because we saw another listing for this place that showed 5 stars – but only one review. No wonder.

Everytime I’m in Victoria I pop in here. Thought I’d be adventurous and try the Salmon King and wound up not enjoying it. But that’s not really their fault. I guess I don’t like salmon. Their ham and swiss is pretty good. It’s a long wait though, but they’re usually pretty busy and make them from scratch. Dudes are super nice too. Worth a visit.

This place looks like it’s a waffles fast-food chain it’s actually not!(I did check their website and it looks like they only have one store in Victoria currently). Upon walking in, I noticed a décor that sort of resembled fastfood chain. Immediately, I feared that I have come to the wrong place… but, to my surprise, their waffles but actually tasted way better than what I expected! West Coast Waffles has a good selection of savory and sweet waffles($ 8 – 10 ea). Both of us decided on savory ones($ 10 – 12 ea): one Salmon King(smoked salmon, cream cheese, caper) and one Ham and Swiss. Although the make waffles fresh to our orders, the salmon king waffle wasn’t too hot and tasted quite refreshing. The waffle went along well with cool cream cheese and smoked salmon. Ham and Swiss waffle was relatively hotter(maybe because they made this waffle later than the first one we got) and had a layer of ham with dijon mustard and melted swiss cheese on top. I tried both waffles. and yup… they did taste very good! :)…particularly given such a reasonable price we paid for each waffle. We actually stopped by this place on a Saturday morning around 9−10am. Surprisingly, there were not many people was around at all. The outside street in downtown was empty and so was inside the store. We were the only 2 people in the shop for half of the time; the remaining half of the time we were there, there was just another customer who came in to get her waffle). Yet, what made me wonder was how this place actually ever remained profitable as there were 4 employees and just 3 customers for the half hour we were there. I can simply hope that this place stays for a long time and does not run out of business because of the high overhead costs soon. Would definitely love to visit this place again if given a chance. It’d be even better if they open another store like this in Seattle :) I would totally stop by!

Good Waffles! With lots of interesting flavor combos. My boyfriend and I shared the wake n bacon(bacon and cheese baked inside the waffle with syrup, sour cream and salsa on the side). The flavors all went well together. We also tried the nutella waffle which was FANTASTIC. Nutella, syrup and whip cream. So, so tasty. Good selection of savory, sweet and fruit topped waffles. You can make your own variation as well. Prices are a bit high for what you get, about $ 8 – 12. But in a good location, with good service(albeit a bit slow). All in all, I would definitely go back on my next trip to Victoria. They also have free wi-fi available.

This place rules. I didn’t give it 5 starts because I really want there to be table service. The apple/brie waffle was my favourite
