Chamberlin’s Lookout

A bit torn about this place. The breakfast, by-​and-​large, is excellent: especially the eggs, sausages and bacon. Yet they serve the absolute worst ‘food service’ type jam. Really. The worst. And there’s so much good jam around. Also, while the wait staff is very friendly and helpful, it takes forever for the breakfast to come after you order it. On a beautiful, sunny day when you’ve got nothing else to do but relax and look out at the lake, that’s perfectly fine. On other days, when you’ve got a ton of errands and activities lined up, not so much… Just be aware of that.

Nice little café on upper floor above the General Store in the quaint town of Wakefield. It is situated overlooking the Gatineau River (albeit more Gatineau ice/​snow sheet at time of my visit), adjacent to tracks of preserved railway (if it ever starts running again!).
Limited but interesting menu — patricularly strong on gluten free options — yielding tasty food. Prices very reasonable, service friendly.

The décor has a diner feel but they also have an outdoor patio overlooking the lake. Space is limited but enough for the visitors they receive.
They offer all there meals. We went for lunch and started with coffee. Their organic fair trade coffee is actually pretty good. Couple that with the view and thats a perfect start to a sunny afternoon. For starters we ordered the Baked Triple Cream Brie with Wild Flower Honey, garlic & Corstini. It was a bit on the sweet side was absolutely amazing.
I ordered the Chamberlin’s Burger and bacon and cheese served with potatoe salad. They make their own patties and the meat was juicy and cooked to perfection. They only thing was that the mustard, ketchup was on the lower half of the bun which resulted in the burger falling apart the moment it arrived at our table. But once I tasted the burger, I wasnt too concerned about the mess I was going to create.
My friend ordered the veggie sandwich which looked good. The portions were good and the total tab came to about $ 33 with taxes. Highly recommended.
