It’s really hokey and OLD(but not in a good way, in an ancient DIRTY way) A good place to view a cross section of West VANCOUVER(I.e grey hair) It needs to be renovated… the ‘old world charm’ is simply not there.

Cinnamon bun was icing on a Portuguese bun. Ordered a latte, milk was burnt, staffer said she would remake it «when she has a minute» 15 minutes later on a slow day, she never remade the drink.

i really like this coffee shop. even more now that they have converted the other half to a cute little deli/lunch spot with juices, soups and gluten free snacks. YAY! about 2 weeks ago i would have given it 4 stars. it was open super early before we did the ride to conquer cancer this year AND if you sit by the window it’s great people-watching. and the coffee is pretty good. BUT i experienced one of my pet peeves last week… baristas/workers acting like this is their living room and having a bit of a party with their friends as they work. now by ‘party’ i don’t mean full fledged. but there was lots of party planning(it was dec 31), lots of reeeeeeally long hugging behind the bar, lots of distracted service. now i would like to say that the actual service was good, BUT once no one was lined it was back to fun and games, which to be honest, sitting enjoying out coffees was a bit distracting and a LOT annoying. so minus the pet peeve, it would be 4 stars. just can’t do that right now.

This is my pre-work coffee shop. This place has been around for ages. A chosen spot for the local neighbors as well as an oasis for high school kids. The vibe is comfy and chill. They have a large array of muffins that are hearty and delicious, thanks to the lovely ladies who share the space. I would recommend the quick start muffin if you are looking for a yummy but healthier morning snack. The coffee is great, but it’s the service that I love. The staff there are always friendly(and generous.) I got the chance to get to know them(and them you) which I find a lovely way to start the day: with a smile and often a laugh. Efficient and knowledgeable, this place will continue to be the place that gets me to work awake.

The decks out back are what make this place for me. Lots of seating. Very good in the summer time but even on an ok day off season(no rain). Had a local with ‘local knowledge’ clue me in and glad he did.

The original BATW! I never liked coffee until I walked into this place and they were roasting their own beans in the café. Smelled amazing! They no longer roast in the café but still can’t beat the coffee. My favourite is Marine Blend. When I lived in the UK I had people bring over pounds of Marine Blend when they visited. I think that pretty much sums it up.

The coffee is great and the sandwich place right next door has some delicious sandwiches. Check this place out if you’re in the area and want some great coffee or delicious soups and/or sandwiches.

Nothing special but that is fine — just a good neighborhood coffee shop. Muffins good but cinnamon rolls are terrible — taste as if they were warmed over with a microwave. Very very tough dough. But everything else is good.

these guys make a mean cup of coffee. i’ve always passed BATW as a b-squad coffee shop, but the last few times i have been, i’ve been very impressed. the staff were a little scatterbrained but the coffee came out well.
