Other than the view, honestly I’m Not sure why anyone would come here. The food is overpriced and tasted bland. There is no kids menu other than plain pizza and white noodles and canned tomato sauce. The crêpe was unpalatable and was drowned in the same tomato sauce as the kids pizza. Our server was a lovely gentleman, and took the crêpe off the bill which we appreciated — however I don’t think I would ever come back.

As another reviewer said if it wasn’t for the patio and view it would not survive. Four of us came for brunch. The omlettes were so small I can’t believe they would actually serve them, potatoes dry and over cooked and they don’t own a toaster, really! Go for a beer and the view, not the food.

Best location for the patio– amazing view of the bay itself. But the food just kills the view. I ordered a salmon benny and my friend ordered a burger. The bread for the benny was falling apart as I tried to slice through it. Literally falling into bread crumbs! First time ever happened. The sauce they put on the egg didn’t taste good at all. Had to scrap off and only had the egg & salmon. Salmon was in ultra thin pieces, which you can see through the pieces under the sunny daylight. The dish also came with a lot of fruits and few hash browns. My friend also ordered an Irish Coffee($ 9) which didn’t come with baileys. The additional bailey shot(another $ 9) didn’t add much score to the odd taste. The server dropped the fries while bringing two burgers to another table and asked a rhetorical question: You probably wanted fries with those, right? Luckily didn’t happen on my table. Having to wait longer for fries would probably make me bang my head on the wall. We came here an hour before the ferry trip. But our food came 35+ minutes after ordering. Took 15+ minutes to get the bill. It wasn’t during a busy period at all, around 5 – 6 tables of less than 4 per table? Needless to say, we missed our ferry. But luckily we didn’t buy the tickets ahead of time.

If it wasn’t for the patio a restaurant like this would never survive. Long weekend, sunny and 2 servers on… need I say more? I’ve been coming here several times per year only for the patio(and maybe choices in horseshoe bay) and each time it’s a bit of a crap shoot… a great operator would make this place a gold mine!

My new favorites are salmon fillet and house steak served on a hot stone plates. Mind blowing awesome patio. Prices are reasonable for a nice meal experience. Waiting for more new specials to come!

How the F&$* is this place still in business? Pretentious and over priced. Their COOK should feel shame. No chef works here.

This location is one of the best… Very hard for the food and service to compare. I am coming back for the patio this summer, and will review again. Missed the ferry and had a nice hour with a little wine and appetizers. Didn’t know how hungry I was, so my intro to this establishment has been good.

Nice view from the roof top. The appetizers were ok, nothing to rave about. The calamari was soggy not crunchy. The bruschetta also was tasty.

The restaurant is very spacious and the patio is very roomy and each table that has direct sun exposure all have umbrellas. I ordered a Caesar and asked for extra beans($ 5.99), and it was pretty average. For food we ordered a plate of calamari($ 12) and garlic butter and white wine escargot($ 9). I thought it was very interesting that a restaurant at the ferries that was by no means a French restaurant would serve escargot, and I had to order it and try it out. It came with 6 pieces and had quite a few pieces of pita bread on the side. I wasn’t expecting the pita and it was a pleasant surprise, especially since it tasted so good! The escargot themselves were cooked nicely and had a good flavour, and dipping the pita into the garlic butter was delightful. For $ 9, this was a steal! The calamari was also a very good value given the amount of calamari on the plate. They were nicely battered and the tzatziki sauce was nice and tangy. The prices are definitely reasonable and this is a great little gem of a place to stop by while waiting for the ferries or any occasion for that matter. The service was prompt and friendly and the place was pretty clean. Definitely will be coming here more often when I’m in the area!

I’m torn what to give this place, and I feel some people have given it too low a rating(not that I want to let that influence me). The food itself is good after hike fare, kind of locked in the 80s or 90s but substantial and decent(though a bit pricey). They serve a thin crust pizza here which is literally more like a cracker,. not sure I love it but it was ok for 1 meal. For us the service was 4⁄5 — though they sort of do the classic waiter thing and it seems a bit over the top,. it really is just a pub. What noone is saying though is that the patio here is huge, more than 50% of the seating and stellar. My friend also likes some specific German beers that they carry. For Horseshoe Bay, which is a limited market, I guess the BoatHouse would be #1 if money was no object,. but this is a really good option if it is sunny out.

My husband and I came in for a quick meal while waiting for a ferry. We wanted a change from the usual greasy burger place a block away. Boy, am I glad we discovered Bay Moorings! The waiter was perfectly attentive: around when you need him, and left us alone when we didn’t. When I said I needed the bill(early) to settle up before we had to dash to the ferry, he whipped the terminal out of his pocket. Smart! He got a great tip. We ordered the salmon chowder, mussels, and a side of fries. The fries and mussels came inedible hot(better than cold, I suppose), so we both ate the soup for a couple minutes while the rest cooled down. Every dish was near-perfect, and I don’t say that lightly! The fries were real potato, neither crispy nor soft. The salmon chowder was full of salmon chunks and very tasty. The mussels came in a broth so good I ate the rest with the spoon. I really wish we didn’t have to rush our meal to catch the ferry! We will definitely be back.

Very surprised about the review and rating. We went there with our kids. We had a very attentive waiter and the food was good. For sure not super spectacular but the kids had very good fish and chips and we also had a good Oyster Burger as well as a very tasty seafood salad. We went on personal recommendation. Based on Unilocal, there would have been no chance we had gone there… worth to consider…

I was trying to impress out of town friends and so I took them to one of Vancouver’s most gorgeous spots, Horseshoe Bay-but I didn’t get a chance to consult Unilocal first. This was the only place with a rooftop deck we saw on the strip, so we decided to take a chance on it. And the rooftop deck was beautiful. Great views of the bay, definitely worth the drive out from Vancouver. But the food was a different story. We started with a trio of dips– hummus, olive tapenade, and tatziki. All were sub-par. Bland, and missing garlic. However pita they came with were delightful, warm and toasty, fluffy with butter and herbs. Only it didn’t come with enough of the bread and our waitress never came back until she brought our main course, so we were left frustrated and hungry without bread to make these dips eatable. We got the Corinthian pizza for the table. After my first bite I knew we would’ve been better off getting a pie from the Fresh Slice below the restaurant. The crust was doughy and bland. The toppings weren’t fresh– we kept getting chunks of watery, defrosted frozen spinach in odd intervals. The cheese was flavourless as can be, as was the sauce. Pretty much all of the other ingredients(olives, mushrooms) came from a can. It made me long for the much, much better quality frozen pizza’s there are on the market. Or the far, far superior Fresh Slice. They do well with a selection of drinks, so I suppose if you want a drink on a patio in the area, this is a good spot.

The restaurant is shabby and badly in need of renovation. It’s in an older wood frame building, and it smells unpleasantly musty. We went in for a change from the excellent Olive and Anchor, which is a few doors down, and regretted that choice. The food was mediocre Greek, and the service remarkably slow for an almost-empty restaurant. Very disappointing for the price.

I live close to Horseshoe Bay. I’ve been to the Bay Moorings restaurant several times thinking it was convenient. As of tonight, I will not go back or order any takeout. The deck is lovely in the summertime but that is all that works for this place. Dinners are very average, flavourless, and the food is always dry and over cooked. The service is fair at best. Tonight, I ordered a pizza, take out, and it was pathetic. It was undercooked and the cheese was so cheap, as well, flavourless, that when I re-cooked it under the broiler at home, it would not even melt. The pizza was flavourless and gummy, much like you would get with a cheap frozen supermarket pizza. No amount of salt or spices could help this dead pizza come to life. I had asked for feta on the pizza and you would have thought that there was a world wide shortage of feta. Almost zero feta on the pizza. Bay moorings had better get it together as Olive & Anchor and the new Troller Pub are get additions to Horseshoe Bay which will eclipse this sad, old, poorly run restaurant. I will not be back and will spread the news. Do not waste you time or money here, you will be disappointed.

We wanted to picnic in Horseshoe Bay Park, so we went here to grab some local seafood that wasn’t your typical lunchtime fare. I had a salmon fillet on a salad. The salad was good, but the salmon was extremely overcooked. This was weird for being in salmon country and for being more expensive than the other places in the area. My boyfriend had a salmon burger which he also found bland. We didn’t sit on the patio, but it was quite nice from what we saw. I don’t know that I’d recommend it or go back. You can’t overcook salmon in BC!

Patio in the sun? YESPLEASE. The other bars in the vicinity had patios but all in shade. This place has a large rooftop patio with full on sun. Drinks were decent, special beers on tap for 4.50, I had a standard caesar. Lunchtime. Boyfriend had the octopus, it was decent but nothing special. I had a salmon salad with mango avocado salsa, yummy. (Random fact, the women’s bathroom was interesting, there were windows throughout including in the stall in the corner. Windows were above boob height so there was no show but still a bit odd.) Would definitely recommend for drinks and appies, but might wanna go somewhere else if you’re going for a nice meal.

We happened-upon The Bay Moorings, within walking distance of the BC Ferry landings, at West Vancouver, BC, while waiting for our ride from Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo… we had a 45 minute wait. How about a quick beverage during the interim? Yes. The Bay Moorings fit our fill. Attentive bartender and very reasonable prices for two pale-ales. If your craving is for liquid before an expected 1.5 hour sailing out of Horseshoe Bay, I trust you won’t go wrong with making The Bay Moorings your spot for a spiffy beverage. If you want coffee… yes, there is a Starbucks quite proximate. Good show — Moorings!
