I didn’t think the waffles were anything special. I’d order something else. The cabin is nice though and relative to the other choices this is probably a better bet. I had higher expectations from whistler regarding mountain restaurants.

Delious waffles with a strawberry compote, whipped cream, chocolate shaving. I added bananas to mine. It’s an experience being on top of a mountain in the small busy crystal hut. Definitely an experience worth having.

Montréal braised beef sammich with butternut squash soup and spinach salad with walnuts, goat cheese, craisins, and balsamic dressing. ‘Nuff said. Its like a beef Cuban sandwich. Delicious. Small hut on blackcombe, so seating is very limited. Best food on the mountain Most people come for the waffles, and they’re tasty, but don’t overlook their other offerings.

One week at Whistler and this was my fav meal! I had the steak sandwich and my husband had the waffle. Good waffle; FANTASTIC steak sandwich. Sandwich is sort of a misnomer. Actually a steak served on a piece of thick toast and eaten w knife and fork. It was tender, tasty and over the top good.

Small, quaint, cozy and off by itself. The new express chair is a stroke of genius and may create crowds here.

Always a stop for me when I am up on whistler. There may be bigger restaurants with more selection, but the feel of crystal hut is what does it for me. The food is also top notch, and you can’t go wrong with any choice. The waffles are fantastic. Batter is perfect and they come out light and fluffy, with a whole bunch of goodies on top. The chilli bread bowl is amazing on a windy whistler day. The last time I was up I had they put some chilli on top of the Mac n cheese… Wow. I was done for the day. Food coma. It was delicious. Downside is the size, and seating is first come first serve. People complaining about the bathrooms need to take the location into account. No plumbing. And probably too many hazards for a septic tank. It smells on the best of days, but not inside.

Cute lil stop for a quick bite on the mountain. It was lunch time and we didn’t want to fight the huge crowd of people at the main lodge, so we rode to this lil pit stop for a quick bite. They had a good selection of beer on tap, Belgian waffles, and a good selection of soups. The goulash I ordered was meaty and flavorful although cost me a whopping $ 10. Friendly fast service. Single bathroom stall for the ladies so expect to stand in line for awhile.

Waffle with everything was fantastic. Oven roasted Chicken and Salmon were also a welcomed meal after shredding the mountain all morning.

The waffles were very good but the wait was very long. The place is very small and crowded. I’m not sure the wait was totally worth it but now we say we’ve been there.

This place is worth checking out for its supposed ‘world-famous’ waffles. Avoid the bathrooms at all costs, though. Crystal Hut is a tiny little place with some other things to eat besides waffles. Plus a few alcoholic beverages to go with your coffee. The waffles have all kinds of goodies on them: chocolate chips, berries and other num-nums. They need pecans, though, in order to get 5 stars. And they need to reconsider their bathroom setup. The smell emanating from the Hut region isn’t, unfortunately, waffles, but a strong scent of sewage. Not sure what the deal is, but it smells horrible, and they’d do well to get rid of it. But then again, maybe they’re trying to regulate the flow of people into the Hut.

When I got to Crystal Hut, the line was out the door. I figured that was a good sign, but it turned out Glacier Creek Lodge was closed(not sure why) and Crystal Hut was carrying some of their load. Still, the staff seemed to be handling the situation smoothly, and were upfront about the resulting delays: I’d have to wait half an hour to get my waffle. Had a beer and watched the Clark’s Nutcrackers(whiskeyjack wannabes) while I waited. I hoped the waffle would be worth it. Unfortunately… The liquid from the strawberries and blueberries had turned most of my waffle to mush. It wasn’t because it was sitting around sopping up liquid; I was eating within a minute or two of when the berries were added. Judging by the waffle parts that survived, if it hadn’t disintegrated, it would’ve been good. The toppings(strawberries, blueberries, maple syrup, chocolate chips, whipped cream) were good enough to make it tolerable overall, despite the mush. Next time, I’ll try something from the wood oven. Looks like there’s potential there.

If I hadn’t made a vow never to eat at the same place twice while visiting Whistler, I would have had a waffle here every day. Well, that and the fact that I would probably not fit into any of my jeans anymore. I had a fully loaded waffle, fresh from the iron, topped with blueberries, strawberries, syrup, whipped cream, and chocolate chips. It was amazing. My boyfriend, for some reason, didn’t seem to want a waffle for lunch. Yeah, I don’t know. He ordered a steak sandwich, but they were out. Although he was really sad, I’m not going to dock a star for that because my waffle was SOGOOD. He got chicken and asparagus instead, which was delicious too. I should warn people that the wait was long(30 minutes for a waffle) and the service wasn’t especially friendly … but still, 5 stars. Best waffle of my life.

By far the best restaurant on the mountain and maybe one of the best in Whistler all together. Really, I should say, the best dish in Whistler. The Crystal is a small ‘hut’(think log cabin) at the top of the Crystal Chair. It’s always warm and toasty, usually to the point where you have to open the vents in your ski pants. They have steak on the menu(which I’ve never tried) and waffles. Oh, the waffles. The first time I heard about the waffles at Crystal Hut I kind of thought, ‘Big deal.’ It turns out they are a big deal. I very big deal. Made to order, the Belgium waffle is massive. It is then topped with hot maple syrup(the good stuff), melted butter, strawberries and some other sort of berry(seems to vary), chocolate chips and whipped cream on top. There is nothing, nothing better than a Crystal Hut Waffle after a morning riding session.
