Great tasting sushi. Service is quick. The waitress is very polite and attentive. Would recommend to anyone to try. A bit on the pricey side. Great restaurant for a date. Would even go as far as saying top three sushi restaurants in Windsor

Not fresh fish, and rice was too hard. Not the worst but wouldn’t come back. But hey, I guess I’m a bit of a Toronto sushi snob.

Came here for lunch because I saw the high ratings on Unilocal.I ordered the lunch sashimi which had 12 pieces but the selection was really limited. It only had Salmon, White tuna and another white fish so mostly I got salmon. It didn’t taste fresh(kind of bland and had no fish taste). The rice was served separately and it wasn’t flavoured sushi rice, also it was a little under-cooked. It was a little underwhelming but I guess I can’t expect too much for a small town like Windsor. I’m guessing there aren’t that many Japanese places around.

I try to go there every time I’m here. Yesterday I ordered the tuna tataki, miso soup, and a spicy salmon roll. Everything was fresh as usual, but the tuna was like an orgasm in my tongue… I love this place and I’ll go back before leaving.

Excellent sushi. My go to place in Windsor. Perfect for a date setting since it’s a small and cosy setting. The atmosphere is warm and collected. The service is reserved, conservative and warm. The only complaint here is that the menu is limited. Lots of fusions items so if you’re a fan of fusion then this is for you!

I went here a few weeks ago with my mom since we hadn’t visited the restaurant in a long time. My mom told me the restaurant changed ownership and it was apparent with the new décor and cluttered menu. We had their seaweed salad, tempura udon, and an assortment of sushi rolls. You can’t go wrong with seaweed salad since they import it, defrost, garnish, and serve. Their tempura udon was pretty bomb. They had a variety of vegetables that flavoured the broth and their tempura shrimp were beautifully fried. My mom loved them. Now, our sushi rolls. My mom and I agreed the sauces on their sushi rolls killed it. The menu doesn’t say it is topped with sauces which is pretty weird since someone could be allergic to something in the sauce. I did like their(I believe it’s called…) Black Angel roll? That was really good(I do not remember what was in the roll but I liked it enough to remember it sort of). It is quite expensive to eat here compared to other sushi restaurants in Windsor. I wanted to give this place a 3.5÷5 but instead of rounding to 4, the sauces were eh for me since they did cost a lot and it was sort of ruined for me and my mom.

I like to consider myself a sushi aficionado and when I say that this place has the BEST crunchy spicy tuna rolls and spicy salmon rolls I have ever had, I know what I’m talking about. Wow. Can’t wait to visit Windsor again just to go to Sushi California… unbelievable…service and ambiance are great too.

I was a bit scared when I walked in and it was empty but on a Monday night it’s not that surprising. I had Edmame which was good but could have been saltier, a very nicely presented seaweed salad, a delicious rainbow roll and a baked salmon roll that was OK but I’m not sure I’m a fan of the baked roll(first time I tried it). Overall very happy with my dinner but I think I ate a bit too much!

I took my family, who were visiting from California and had never been to Canada. We chose to eat lunch here due to the Unilocal reviews and bc we wanted sushi. The place was nice inside. Our waitress was really friendly and welcoming. The food was really good. We had 4 rolls and a tuna appetizer. All were delicious. We even ordered a second firecracker roll. I’d return for the food and friendly service.

Service was excellent, the sushi i ate(honeymoon and the double shrimp) were to die for. LITERALLY. Their calamari was the best i have ever tasted. It was so crunchy but also soft. The calamari was accompanied with a warm sauce. I came back a day after(sunday) for another round hoping that they’ll be opened, and unfortunately, i was let down. This is going to be my new sushi spot whenever im in windsor.

I would rate this place a zero, but unfortunately you cannot, the reason why I rate this place zero, is because the service is so damned sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooow, I waited over an hour for my food and when I got it, it wasn’t worth the wait, what a shame, save your money and time and go somewhere else

Best sushi in Windsor! My favorite rolls 1) Double shrimp(just amazing!!!) 2) Washington(if you like raw salmon) 3) Crispy Crunch California(a classic with a twist) Trust me, you won’t be disappointed. I also suggest the Ocean’s 3 Roll(wrapped in cucumber instead of the traditional seaweed) and the Tiger Roll(similar to Double Shrimp roll). The service is pleasant and friendly. Do expect to wait a little on weekends for dinner, but trust me it’s worth it. Oh and try the house salad! Lastly, for dessert, try the deep fried cheesecake… it’s AMAZING! It has a creamy inside and a crispy outside, with caramel sauce drizzled on the outside. its served with whip cream and amazing ice cream and usually strawberries and blueberries. I don’t think my description does it justice. Trust me, it’s awesome!

I never leave this place disappointed. The rolls are made to perfection and the service is prompt and friendly. A perfect date night location! I hope this place never closes down because it is my #1 choice for sushi when I am downtown Windsor. It is rarely crowded and always has great lighting & music. Although it does not offer AYCE(at least I don’t think it does), you can order boats of different sizes with varying rolls. Trust me, you will get your money’s worth! 5 stars for sushi quality. 5 stars for service. 5 stars for atmosphere.

2 Stars removed after recent visit — prices a bit jacked up, and portions are getting smaller, felt a bit ripped off after dinner for 2 set us back almost $ 60/and I’m not talking fine dining here people. Will not go back, may try Iguana Sushi next time.

Good fish, good service. Nearly everything else in this city trails far behind, slathered so heavily in sauces either the cheap fish goes undetected by the untrained palate or it’s simply irrelevant.

Sushi California(along with Hikari) offers the best sushi in Windsor — which means it’s quite good, but more than you’d expect to spend on similar sushi in a bigger city like Toronto. Sushi California lacks the cheaper options that Hikari has(lunch specials, etc) but the fish is always flavourful and the rolls are carefully crafted to showcase it without overwhelming it. Ambiance is borderline trendy, but you won’t feel out of place in your street clothes. The server is always extremely friendly, helpful and gracious.
