Las Casitas Akumal

I’ve stayed here twice, and it’s lovely! This is a small cluster of beach houses right on the beach at the end of Akumal Bay. They have two bedrooms, a living room, dining area and kitchen. The patio in the back overlooks the pathway that goes around the bay, and onto the beach. It’s so nice to wake up and walk out to sit on the patio, or go across the little path, onto the beach, with my coffee! The front office is super helpful, everyone’s been nice, and everything here is very comfortable. I like how one bedroom has a built in bookshelf full of used paperbacks. There are two sea kayaks (two seaters) pulled up on the beach that you can borrow (by asking the front office to unchain them and lend you the paddles). The section of beach has some lounge chairs and umbrellas, very nice in the hot midday. There is pretty good wifi. You can rent snorkel or diving equipment nearby, eat at restaurants, or get basic groceries.
Accessibility note: Some of the casitas overlook the beach itself and some overlook rocks. A few of the houses have only one or two steps to get in. None have flat entrances. The one I’ve stayed in has a step inside to go up from the living room to the bedrooms and bathrooms. With limited walking ability I can get onto the beach going down 3 steps. The path (the Akumal Trail, if you look on a map) is mostly hard surfaced but there are soft, rough, and gravelly spots. Navigable for a rider of a scooter with high clearance (like mine) or a strong armed manual wheelchair user.

Decidiste llegar a Akumal ya que es un paraíso y pues bueno, ya tienes el destino, pero no una dirección. Las Casitas Akumal son, como su nombre lo dice, casitas totalmente equipadas. Cabe mencionar que no son nuevas, pero están en la mera playa y generalmente todo estará funcionando de maravilla, en caso que no, repórtalo a la administración y seguro te lo cambian rapidísimo. Es un lugar muy tranquilo, privado, muy limpio, hecho como para que llegues y te instales para disfrutar este paraíso.
Especial para estancias cortas o largas, la parte de la playa en la cual se encuentra es ideal para disfrutar ese espectáculo marino, pero procura ir temprano por las mañanas, a partir de las 9:30 empiezan a llegar los camiones (buses) con turistas y deja de ser sólo para ti la playa.
Las camas son un poco duras, pero como llegué tan cansada cada día, después de nadar horas y andar de arriba a abajo, que no me importó y dormí como bebé.
