Enjoyed a dinner at Mare. Ended up here after the Ritz Lobby bar was closed for reconstruction so wasn’t sure what to expect. The restaurant boasts hand made pasta so we stayed focused on those items on the menu. The wine list was adequate and we enjoyed a cab franc blend that was reasonably priced. As an appetizer we shared the shrimp wrapped in breaded calamari, it was fine, nothing amazing. Nice presentation. Entrees: we ordered the black squid ink spaghetti with seafood, and the cannelloni with lobster. Both were prepared well and tasty. Personally, I think some the fad of making things black with the squid ink is a bit unnecessary, but it is different. My hand made spaghetti noodles were just ok, and I’m comparing to the other hand made pasta I enjoy in the states. The seafood medley in my pasta was again just ok: shrimp, clams, fish, but seemed to be mostly small nuggets of shrimp. Nice ambience inside the restaurant. We dined on a Thursday night a bit late and it wasn’t too busy. I’d go back, but only after I tried several other of the upscale spots nearby.

Came here 4 years ago and had come back because it was absolutely amazing. Starting by the décor to the handmade pastas it is still a must do if in Cancun. The service was great. We had the shrimp stuffed squid(out of this world), the crab penne and the linguini a la vongole. Everything was delicious. We finished it off with a tiramisu and the panna cotta. I would recommend all of it. Can’t wait to came back again! Wish we would have taken pictures but we’re too busy enjoying our meal.

I was surprised to not find this place on Unilocal. It is located right across the Ritz-Carlton and it turned out to be the best discovery of my trip to Cancun. The service could not have been greater. The hostess, Maria, welcomed us warmly to the restaurant and offered a table right next to the lake. The place was so romantic. Right next to the entrance, guests can see how the pasta is made an cut by hand. I fell in love right away with the lobster cannelloni. Our waiter was very helpful and friendly and suggested other plates to go with the cannelloni. We tried the penne al forno(which was ok, but I think i’m biased because of how great was the other plate). Everything has home-made and fresh from the oven bread(which was also delicious). In the end Maria came back with some suggestions for desserts, but we were too full. In the end, the owner also came to our table to ask about our experience. I will definitely go back to this place on my next trip to Cancun! It is not as pricey as other restaurants in the area and the service is much better.
