After being in Quintana Roo and staying in Playa Del Carmen for almost a full week, we only found El Fogon as great food. We drove to Cancun today and were pleasantly surprised by the awesome shrimp cocktail with more than enough to feed two people with just a medium order. The grilled fish tacos with all of the toppings were good. The guacamole was very fresh and delicious, excellent! Great service by the owner and he was more than helpful and extremely friendly. I will be returning to this good eatery more. Give it a shot, you won’t be disappointed. 04÷28÷161:46PM

This was the most creative restaurant we visited in Cancun. The indoor restaurant looked quite small, but there were 6 larger tables in front, inside a lucha libre-themed patio. The menu also had wrestling characters, and each table had a basket of sauces shaped like a wrestling ring. The food on the menu was also some of the most creative I’ve seen for a more casual restaurant. We ordered ceviche served in cucumber boats, which were excellent. We also had chili fried shrimp served on jicama with pineapple and green pepper. This was a good idea, but each one had too large a slice of jicama and was difficult to keep together to eat. We also tried the guacamole with smoked oysters on top. The oysters really complemented guacamole flavors, but this batch of guacamole unfortunately was far too heavy on the lime. The last thing we tried were the octopus tacos, which had good flavors but were overcooked, chewy, and dry. Our beers and piña colada were normal, and overall the price for the amount of food we had was a very good value.

another hole in the wall in the middle of the hotel zone strip with a few tables inside and 4 bar tops outside. cool nacho libre décor throughout, very friendly service from the lone waiter/bartender. food was tasty and inexpensive(compared to resort prices and depending on how much you drink). highly recommend the shrimp and cheese tacos(forget the Spanish name unfortunately) and the only thing i didn’t love was how sweet the margaritas were.

Nice, inexpensive, fresh. Come for tacos and ceviche. Salad is very nice. The Peruvian next door is also very good, but $$$$. This is more simple and authentic place.

First just know that this place is easy to miss, it is nestled between two $$$$ restaurants, and you may want to overlook it, DONT!!! We decided to leave the Hotel and walk on down the strip to find something to eat that was casual and delicious. As we were walking down the strip, we happened on this little strip mall taco shop. An older gentleman was talking to us as we walked by and asked if we liked Tacos… Duh! So we sat inside, the first thing we noticed was the Lucha Libre art and menu cover. this got us right away. We ordered some beer, a platter of White fish Pastor, a platter of Octopus Tacos, and a casserole dish with Fish, shrimp and Calamari which in my long experience of Socal, Baja and Texas Mexican food, never encountered such a delicious dish. Ahead of the meal there was a basket of salsas and dipping sauces which we enjoyed with the chips that were on the table. The two servers/bartenders/runners/bussers that ran the place did a great job of providing service to us and the other people in the place. The food was AMAZING, like RIDICULOUS level, fresh, tasty and filling. Service was A+!!! Goes to show that in an area of opulence and riches, there is always a place where the prices are low and the food is top notch.

I got the beer battered shrimp tacos and the fish tacos that were cooked«Parish» style. The fish didn’t particularly taste like fish or wasn’t seasoned too strongly, but the deep fried shrimp was amazing. They bring out a small tray of different sauces and the tomato salsa tasted the best with both of the tacos. They sold at 30 pesos each, or you could get 3 tacos for about 86 pesos. Pretty cheap and comparable to the price of Wahoo’s, if you’re used to that in the US. We weren’t feeling too hungry so we only got 2, but you should definitely get 3 if you want to get a full meal. Drinks cost about 26 pesos. The atmosphere is a little tacky, but pleasant enough for its price. All the other restaurants we saw around here had entrees starting at 150 pesos.
