The ambience, drinks, and food are top notch. We ordered: Mushroom soup Hamachi sashimi Bass entrée Basil margaritas We roamed around the restaurant and ventured up the stairs to the various areas of the old mansion. Truly a «one of a kind» experience!

I’m a tough customer. And this is a fantastic restaurant! It is so beautiful it’s almost magical in the courtyard patio. The service is impeccable. There were interesting cocktails, but since we had had one at our hotel, we opted for a bottle of wine. There are very few wines by the glass, but one is the house wine — literally, you can only get it here. It’s Minera, a red blend, and was very good. At 490 pesos, not cheap except the exchange rate for dollars really made it affordable. I’m sorry for our Canadian neighbors that they don’t get this rate too. We started with Huitlacoche Crêpe, which is corn fungus. If you haven’t had it, don’t get scared off by this. They call it «corn mushroom», which is pretty accurate, and it was delicious! I would go back just for this dish. We also shared a salad, Nena, with a great mustard vinaigrette. Very tasty, and nice to have a vegetable! Mains were the Pork Shank, justifiably infamous here. So huge, really should have shared it. And the best flavor. I had the Chicken Glaze, a leg grilled with a chipotle vanilla sauce. It was good, but a little sweet for my taste. It was served with Potatoes Anna, which were overcooked and so tough I couldn’t cut them with my knife, so left most. Also, «sparragus», which was good. The bill was about the same as a moderate meal at home in Seattle — again because of the exchange rate. I would still go back and pay more, as a special dinner that it is.

3 stars for customer service and security. My brother in law fell in the fish pond because the table is so close to it and there are no warnings, the staff ignore what had happen and did not offer any type of apologies but since it was a family reunion we did not to make a scene. In all fairnes I love the place and food but I am not sure I will be back. I hope they fix this before some one injures themselves

Single best restaurant in Maz– hands down. The food, ambience, service are all simply amazing. We’ve eaten here at least a dozen(or more) times and Presidio never fails to impress. The pork shank is to die for and the octopus and oysters are equally amazing. We prefer sitting in the courtyard(outside) of this opulent old hacienda but inside is nearly as nice. The wind fritters and the chocolate cake steal the show on the dessert front. Go there, tell them Kyle from Austin sent you :) but seriously just go there. It’s the bomb.

If you are in Mazatlan you must eat here! It’s so different and delicious! It’s worth the ten dollar pulmonia ride from the hotel! It’s a spooky, old one hundred and fifty year old house they haven’t jazzed up, just made it comfortable. The food was fantastic! I love sea bass and it was prepared delicately and not over powering sauce. The duck burritos are a perfect appetizer. Flavorful and easy to eat. Everyone at our table was happy with the food. The chicken with special sauce is great! Then we faced dessert. WOW! You must order the pastry puffs with chocolate and caramel sauce! Out of this world! We almost ordered a second one. We were thrilled with the physical restaurant, opened air, no air conditioning. You have a choice of indoor or out. The only item that was not great was the wine. Not a lot of choices unless you order a whole bottle. That is a problem for us since I drink white wine and my husband drinks red. Can’t wait to go back.

La mejor comida orgasmo! The best dinner I have had in Mazatlan so far. The food is amazing as well as the presentation. If you have never heard of or seen«Gourmet Mexican Food», this is the place that does it(check out my photos). Make reservations or you probably won’t get in. This place would probably be one of the top 25 restaurants in San Francisco if you picked it up and brought it here. The wait staff are incredibly attentive but let’s get to the carne de la revisión. Si, habla español! Upon entering El Presidio you will notice an incredible vibe and MASSIVE restaurant with glass walls that separate the different seating areas. This is inside a historic house which is probably 20,000 square feet! The massive bar is just beautiful to look at… makes a great photo. I’m going to tell you a secret. Order the«Tamarindo» Margarita. If you don’t know what Tamarind margarita’s are(most people have never had one yet) you must get one. They actually put candied pieces of Tamarind on top of the margarita. It’s rare to find them but this is one place that has them. Tamarind contains high levels of tartaric acid, just as citrus fruits contain citric acid, providing a zing to the taste buds. It’s a healthy margarita if you have Tamarind in it. LOL! Hey it’s GLUTENFREE… for all you GFF’s out there. We had so much food(ordered almost every appetizer they had… we were here to try as much as possible and wow did we ever, it’s too much to list, but some of the highlights were the duck burritos, sliced octopus carpaccio, and smoked pork shank that is the best pork shank I have ever tasted. The desserts are also very good. The food comes to you inside what looks to be like a metal bird house. I really thought they were bringing us some chicken to look at. «No Pollo, No Pollo por favor!» Not something a waiter here would be wanting to schlep around to the tables. They have them for all the food and they are all hand carried. If you want a fantastic dining experience with great service, incredible food, unique margaritas and a bit of Mazatlan history, this is a do not miss place on the list. It won’t be cheap but it is worth every penny. Trip Advisor has a lot of reviews so I thought I would add one to Unilocal.Bring your camera and bring your appetite!
