Chiltepin Marisquillos

It is located a bit off the bitten path, but boy their food is soo good!!! This is a place that locals in Playa Del Carmen go to – that’s how you know it’s good.
The food is reasonably priced and delicious and comes with different sauces you can try, on the side. We tried a few different types of tacos and I loved them all!
The service is here is exceptional! I don’t remember the name of our server, but she was so sweet and patiently explained all the items on the menu.
It’s seriously some of the best Mexican food we have ever had. We will definitely go back. Really, don’t take my word for it, just try this place and see for yourself!

Located about 3 blocks from the infamous 5^th avenue, this is a rather small, unassuming open air but covered casual place.
There were many locals eating here and that’s always a good sign. They serve chips and several different sauces to go with. From muy spicy habenero to mild garlic ranch, all were quite good.
The shrimp in garlic sauce I ordered were very lightly breaded and some of the best tasting shrimp I’ve ever had. Tried my hubs guac and wished I had more.
Our server wasn’t well versed in English so he brought over another who spoke and understood perfectly. Very reasonable prices for food and beer.
Not quite sure why there is a pool in the middle. Does anybody take a quick dip while waiting for their food? Not in this rainy day.

The food was super delish fish and shrimp tacos were cooked and served to perfection and a creative sweet purple slaw. Their ceviches are all delicious. And now the service here is without a doubt 5star service you do not come in
2 servers Jesus and Lorena are my favs and I ask for them when I go. Tonite will be my 4day goin !! And the prices are ridiculously fair !! I tip big to compensate for the low priced meals I get!

Very friendly, prices are fair. I had the best and biggest michelada I’ve ever had. The shrimp cocktail is a must, so tasty and generous, you have to share the love!

The best fajitas! Great staff and location from 5^th Ave. We’ve eaten here twice already! Get their piña colada. De-​lish!

La verdad es que la pase muy machin cenando aquí. Fui 3 veces cuando estuve en playa ya que es el único lugar que no este en la quinta que sirve mariscos después de las 12 en playa. Les recomendaría que pidieran unos tacos de mariscos antes de que vayan probando otros platillos. Probé otros platos como el aguachile, ceviche y camarones al coco… Pero salieron muy salado todo. Los tacos de pulpo, camarón y pescadito son buenos y se los recomiendo. También cuenta con un alberca jeje y una selección muy amplia de cervezas mexicanas! Si tiene Pacífico y León y recate light. Así que cuando esté en playa y se le antoje una mordida de mariscos en la noche váyase a comer aquí.

Garlic Shriiiiiiimp.
If you want to make me happy, and make my mouth water, take me to a place that has excellent garlic shrimp. The local taxis, the shop keepers, our tour guide all recommended this place with much enthusiasm, and it did not disappoint.
Let’s start off the the basics.
Chips and salsa.
Universal for every and any mexican food place, the appetizer before you get anything else. These. Were. Amazing. A little spicier and «sea saltier» than I can explain it. but once you order the Guacamole dish (not a freebie, sadly) you will know why I recommend it so highly. Everything is so fresh and clean, crisp flavors. Don’t let the pool fool you, the cooking is SO much better than the places looks.
Once you get past the shrimp soup/​juice shot they offer (I hated it the first time, but after the 5^th time I ate here I loved it … yes 5^th in one week, it’s that good.) move on to the molcajetes.
Don’t let my looks fool you. I am Asian, but raised in a mixed family with strong Mexican ties, so I know good molcajete, and this was better than my Tia Panchita’s (rest her soul). God, everything tasted so fresh and lively in this dish, leading to different directions and textures of dining experience in my mouth. From the strong (but not too bitter) lime juice, to the crisp cucumbers, the succulent shrimp, the spicy chili flavor that comes on strong in the end… ugh, magnificent! Definitely enjoy this dish with a few good beers and good friends to share it with!
The machaca and shrimp tostadas are not to be missed, either. Normally the two types of surf and turf shouldn’t be mixed like this, so much potential to get it wrong, but these flavors really work here. Again, fresh, strong flavors, healthy portions, and none of that bloating feeling. You feel you are WELL and healthy, not fattening.
Also get the bacon wrapped garlic shrimps (to go, to enjoy by the sea shore!)
And I don’t know where they get their ice cream, but it most come from some master artisan/​company, because it is refreshingly good. You can taste the strawberry freshness.
Excellent service, very willing to accommodate most reasonable needs and they are all very happy to have you. Great for tourists or locals.
And the prices (when buying in pesos) are astonishing, compared to what I would pay in the states for something like this, even in cheap hood rat places.
Oh, and the pool, if you have the apparel for it, is good to chill out at on a hot hot afternoon. If you don’t have a lot of hang ups about where you eat and swim, you should have lots of fun. Let your hair down and hang out like a local having a good time!

De las marisquerías así como las conocemos en México, como las que encuentras en el otro lado del país, hacia el Pacífico, aquí en Playa del Carmen esta es la mejor. Por mucho.
Este lugar es un negocio formal, ambicioso que sabe que se puede tener un restaurante exitoso sin enfocarse sólo en el turista extranjero. Este lugar es para los locales y es fabuloso.
El caldo de camarón, los tacos y tostadas de pescado o camarón, los aguachiles y los ceviches son súper frescos, bien servicios, abundantes ricos.
Aquí la opción es acompañar tu comida con una cerveza, micheladas o con clamato, con salsa picante y escarchada.
El ambiente es de lo mejor. Te encuentras a todo el mundo aquí y te atienden muy bien. Los precios son justos. Llega temprano porque puede llenarse, el servicio puede ser algo lento también. Seguido hay promociones y descuentos. La verdad es un lugar bastante bueno para no estar en la quinta avenida.

Una más de las buenas opciones para comer unos ricos mariscos es Chiltepín. A pesar de que se encuentran muy cerca de la competencia (Aguachiles), se han ido posicionando en el gusto de la gente y hoy ya tienen mucho público cautivo (como yo). Además de que siempre tienen buenos «deals» con la onda de los cubetazos, hay de todo en el bar. Pero el verdadero atractivo se centra en la comida: camarones, ostiones, pescado y mucho más es lo que se incluye en el catálogo. He de confesar que nos hemos hecho fanáticos al lugar también por culpa de mi hijo (que es malo para comer, pero bueno para la fiesta) porque gracias a la pequeña alberquita con que cuentan, siempre acepta acompañarnos sin chistar.
Los precios de Chiltepín son muy razonables, el lugar es cómodo, pero pequeño y el servicio me encanta. Te recomiendo mucho las tostadas de camarón, pescado, atún, etc…

Chiltepín es otro nivel de mariscos, un lugar clave para esos amaneceres borrosos e inciertos, en los que uno se siente vampiro/​a ofuscado por los rayos del sol. Os presento, en este espacio, el mejor lugar para la tan temida cruda, no negaremos la cruz de nuestra parroquia, así que más vale que tomemos, aparte de las chelas, precauciones. El Chiltepín es EL lugar para crudearla a gusto, son mariscos deliciosos esperando entrar a esa barriguita que la naturaleza te dio.
Ya que estás allí, puedes pedirte algún platillo fresquito o puedes pedir la especialidad de la casa, el medallón de atún sellado en salsa de cilantro, lo sirven con arrocito y ensalada, revivirás y es más, ahí mismo la puedes conectar. Nunca es bueno perder condición y tú lo sabes.
Tienen servicio a domicilio con un costo extra de $ 25 y aunque está abierto hasta las 2 am, el servicio a domicilio funciona hasta las 12, porque la empresa que lleva los pedidos se hace calabaza y debe esperar hasta el hechizo del día siguiente.

Chiltepin Marisquillos es un lugar que se disfruta, sí, va más allá de una frase muy gastada y repetida, les diré la razón, en los días de box proyectan la pelea en una pantalla y la puedes ver metido en la alberca bebiendo una cerveza, ¡les dije! en Chiltepin se disfruta y bien.
Como dato adicional los precios son justos, las porciones generosas, las salsas sí son picosas y los tragos fríos de verdad lo son, los fines de semana hay dj, entre semana programan música en vivo, los administradores del lugar están preocupados en que siempre encuentres algo novedoso que te haga regresar, además su atención es amable, respetuosa y puntual, como debe de ser.
Ojo, cuando hay evento deportivo se debe hacer reservación porque se llena, además de cubrir un consumo mínimo; otra cosa a considerar es que no tiene estacionamiento.
