My favourite is their grilled fish with garlic dish, which comes with a side of rice, salad and tortillas. The octopus one of their chef specials is nice but a little too salty. They do fantastic guacamoles and margeritas, but I personally think the tacos are a miss.

First off, like most restaurants this is cash only. Come with pesos. The menu in this place is a little confusing, so I recommend going directly to tacos, which are really good. The corn cake with ice cream for dessert was also yummy. Prices are reasonable.

This place was a little hard to find but definitely worth the quest we went on to get here. After some shopping at 5th avenue we decided to stop in for a bite after seeing all the good reviews this place had. I got the rib eye tacos and my friend got the octopus. The portions are good and the prices are reasonable. The restaurant is open so it can be a little hot if you go in the afternoon but thankfully there’s a lot of shade. They have a cucumber drink that was so refreshing and the corn cake is a MUST. Definitely worth going back for the corn cake alone!

Best tacos in playa. The must try is the full octopus. It looks off putting but it’s amazing… Trust me… Try the grilled fish tacos and the beer battered shrimp tacos.

Yowsa, the food here is amazing! The reviews were spot on. We had a little of everything — aguachiles, sunrise(?) octopus, shrimp tacos. The only complaint is that the shrimp tacos were on the bland side. I don’t mind raw seafood, but shrimp don’t have much flavor before they are cooked. But all that was a distant memory when I tasted the aguachiles and the mother of all octopus dishes. Wow. Casual and sweet joint off the busy avenue. Worth the 10 min walk for sure! Mostly locals there. They have an English menu, but you will do a lot of pointing if you don’t speak Spanish. Super friendly and quick service. Everything the servers recommended was perfect. The cucumber(pepino) mezcal cocktail was the best drink I had all week. Smoky, fresh, funky & fabulous.

They have great aguachili recipes, handmade ice cream, craft beers and homemade juices and drinks. I have tried quite a few things here and have never been disappointed. Highly recommend the coconut ice cream and aguachido with basil, cilantro and chili mix. Oh and the tacos yummy with flour or corn options; fried or soft.

They bring out all these sauces to try before your meal. So good! We had Los Aguachidos(«our specialties», or something like that) — The Special(mixed). Pretty much it’s a ceviche with shrimp, fish, and octopus. It was delicious! I only wish you could get a small plate of it so you had more room for tacos. We had a breaded fish taco, breaded shrimp taco, smoked tuna(eh– I wasn’t a fan), and a pork one. The pork taco had a tortilla that had been fried– it seriously melted in your mouth. I cannot recommend that one enough.

29.5 pesos for tacos and bottled water. Best damn fish tacos ever. Get fried not grilled, this is Mexico damnit not California. Fried shrimp tacos are Good too and so was the shrimp and cilantro but the fish is where it’s at. The mescal pepino cocktail is fabulous. So delicious and smoky and the profile has so much depth. Great margaritas too. Service is good. Sauces are good. Go here and have no regrets.

Everything we got was delicious. We shared about five tacos, including steamed fish taco and breaded fish taco, as well as seafood rice. They offered us lots of sauces to try. We had habanero, cilantro mayo, soy sauce, some white spicy sauce, and more. Service was friendly. They also moved us to a different table when we requested. The waitress initially didn’t understand our request because her mother tongue is not English, but she got another waiter to help us, who understood our request and moved us.

I really enjoyed my dinner here — everything was not only fresh, but also healthy and delicious! I got 3 of the figurines(aka lettuce wraps) — the aguachiles, white fish, and smoked tuna. The aguachiles was okay, but to be honest I’m not a huge fan of the mix of lime and seafood. The smoked tuna was also fine, but there wasn’t anything particularly special about it. But the white fish!!! It was super soft and super savory and so good in the lettuce wrap. Yummmmm. I was so surprised, as I was expecting it to be dry and bland per the fish tacos I’ve had before. But this was so good! The octopus was also very good, very savory, but the sauce was way too salty. I wish they had toned it down a bit, because it became almost impossible to finish it towards the end. A surprise winner was the rice dish(with mixed seafood), which was remarkably savory from the seafood and nicely seasoned by some sauce(soy?). It’s not really ever mentioned when people review Los Aguachiles, but this was actually one of my favorite dishes of the night, and I’d recommend trying it out.

Grilled fish platter was amazing I got the rubble shrimp battered and marinated in a spicy sauce. And some fries to boot. The Agua Fresca I got was tamarindo also yummy, It’s basically flavored water so don’t expect it super sweet but refreshing. I got a grilled shrimp taco but couldn’t eat it Coz it was not what I expected but I’m sure it would taste nice for someone else. I just like my seafood well grilled WITH grill marks. Oh and free wifi just ask! Great ambiance and attention to guests! They even gave us bug spray!

There are two Los Aguachiles and this is the one that is a little farther from the 5th Ave one. Both are good, but the one on Calle 34 is my favorite and a bit less busy sometimes. They close sometimes early. I love this place. Great tacos. Their name sake aguachiles are big and tasty and filling. The ceviches are the same way. I had tacos as well and they were very nice. I have been to Mexico about 30 times and love this place.

Great taco place. My wife says they’re the best shrimp tacos she’s had in Playa. The tacos are more creative than other places. You won’t find a standard al pastor taco, but a good place to try something new. Lots of fun sauces. Cheap beer and good service.

I had bookmarked Los Aguachiles due to the great reviews. It’s definitely worth getting away from the tourist trap section of 5th Ave. in Playa Del Carmen. We just dropped in for some beers & a snack. How does guacamole, chips & mixed seafood Aguachiles sound? Yup, it was delicious! We would definitely like to come back for the rest of the menu if we’re in the area.

This place was definitely more for tourists then locals but the food was delicious. We got the cevhice and the octopus we saw in a bunch of the pictures. So delicious!!! The ceviche flavors worked really well together. The octopus was a little chipotle or bbq tasting. It was good but a really strong flavor after a while. Of course I won’t be back for a while but I do recommend stopping by if your in town. It’s worth it. p. s. They offer haberno oil at the table! :X dangerous!

This place has become super popular with a breed of European and U.S. tourist who is trying to get off the beaten tourist trap along Avenida 5. The three times I ate there I encountered others who were repeat visitors. Aguachiles is a kind of ceviche where the fish is cooked in lime juice but Mexican style using Serrano chilies as well. The marinade also influences other toppings like julienned jicama or cucumber. Aguachiles is a fresh tangy fish preparation and tastes great with the fresh seafood available in Playa del Carmen. If you chose the tostados, the lettuce wraps or the tacos, you’ll have the option to use aguachiles as the main filling. It comes topped with onions and red cabbage also. These finger foods are really excellent; you will get a different taste experience with each unique taco/wrap/tostado. These fish cocktail wraps are the big draw here judging by the tourists around me. The restaurant serves them with a series of seven auxiliary condiments, making the toppings even more finger-licking good. There is an English menu and the server’s don’t speak English but are helpful. They always seem rushed off their feet. The place is great but the price of $ 3-$ 4 per taco is higher than if you go into the Mexican(non-touristy) sections of the town. In Colosia, a working class neighborhood I got three heaped mixed seafood tacos which were absolutely delicious and topped with avocado for $ 4. Try to find the local places if you are so inclined.

Provecho
