This is a wonderful restaurant with a bartender we’ve enjoyed for six years. It’s casual, user friendly and a great polace to visit. Inspite of another post, it’s 8 km some from Puerto Nuevo…

Splash has really gone downhill. The old location was classic Mexico, a quaint bar and restaurant on the beach with great service and food. Unfortunately, the new location has average food, is overpriced, and the service is awful. They got greedy, built a huge restaurant, and it’s not what it used to be. Our experience was ok, until the high chair that our 2 year old daughter was sitting in broke, and she face planted the table before hitting the ground. She bruised her forehead and blood was coming out of her mouth. She was screaming and crying. A waiter came running over, grabbed the high chair, and took off without saying a word. The waitress didn’t even come over to the table until we had been sitting there with dirty plates in front of us for 10 minutes. No one even said a word or apologized. Truly awful, pathetic service. Besides the rickety Mexican high chairs, this place has low windows with only screens right over a cliff that are just waiting for a child to jump out to their demise below. In the US this place would be a personal injury lawyer’s wet dream. Remember you are in Mexico and the standards and safety you are accustomed to back home do not apply here. If you or your child get hurt, the staff here couldn’t care less and they will demand you pay your bill even if you or your child are bleeding on the floor. Beware this place is DANGEROUSFORCHILDREN. To top it off, my wife got FOODPOISONING from the seafood platter. This is a year after a friend also got food poisoning there. Splash, you suck and we will never go back.

We made a reservation here for a party of 9 for my 30th birthday dinner and although they accepted the reservation on the phone, when we got there, they had not saved us a table and we had to wait. The new location is bigger than the old one, but the ambiance doesn’t seem quite the same — especially at night when you can’t see the ocean right out the window. Therefore, I’d recommend this spot for dining during the daytime or early dinner to catch the sunset. Their food is still good, although it seems like prices have gone up. The live band is awesome, although the dance floor can get kind of squished. All in all it is a solid 3 stars although don’t count on a reservation!

Love this place! View of ocean from anywhere you sit, waves splashing right up next the restaurant. Food is excellent. I had the bacon wrapped, crab stuffed shrimp and my my, that sauce that comes with it?! Amazing. Would return in a heartbeat. Service is wonderful as well!

This is a hidden gem located in Puerto Nuevo Mexico, right on the beach. this place has some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever tasted with a spectacular view overlooking the ocean while you eat .I would literally drive 2 hours just to go eat at this place that’s how good it is! As you walk in, there is very cool vibe you get they have lights that light up the entire bar and the dining area. If u look out the windows you see nothing but an ocean view and during the sunset it is very awesome! Now to the food I ended up ordering their fish burrito with everything on it and a side of their seasoned fries! Because of the prices I literally thought the fish burrito would not be nearly enough to feed me so thats why i got the fries… The burrito was about 3US dollars! But do not let the cheap prices fool you the food was phenomenal quality. As the burrito came out the presentation was nice it took up the whole size of the plate I’m talking at least the size of a football lol and the fries came on a giant plate as well definitely enough to feed 3 people the amount of food I received. Overall I am very impressed with this place and will be returning soon I am obsessed with their food! Soo good

If you’re looking for a «Cheers» like atmosphere, Splash is your place. Everyone knows your name by the second visit and proprietor Nickolas ensures everyone feels welcome. Great variety on the menu from breakfast to some of the best seabass I’ve ever had. Entertainment Thursday — Sunday is great, add a couple of Nick’s Cadillac margaritas and you’re bound to be a happy customer! Terrific spot for a wide age range.

One of my favorite bar/restaurants in Baja, I walk in with my G Friend after a 3 month absence and the bar staff REMEMBERS me… Hmmmm, well at least they acted like they did. I was a little suspicious… but when he correctly remembered BOTH our drinks??? Holy crap… they actually did. That in of and by itself is AMAZING considering the amount of customers that come through that place. Now that I’ve been 5 or 6 times in the last year… it’s like seeing old friends every time I walk through the door. Love it! GREAT food… GREAT drink, GREAT prices, GREAT live music. This place is THE place to go to take the girlfriend out to dance. Good stuff!

Sit on the upstairs patio. Order the lobster. Order a beer. You are in baja. Order another beer, enjoy the chips and medium spicy salsa, look for the green flash if you believe in that shit and enjoy where you are.

Not what it used to be. If it’s you’re first time you’ll like it. If you’ve been there before they moved to new location you’ll weep at what happened. Service, food, and atmosphere are completely different now. Look and feel of the place is PB douche tourist trap. If you come on date with just you other you’ll have a decent time. Parties of 4 or more you’re happy if the food comes out within the same half hour as the first dish. I used to really love this place and was treated well. Now you’re just a $ that takes up space for the next group of suckers who came from all the people who used to rave about this place. Just go to taco surf, no seafood but hasn’t changed a bit in years.

It was a Thursday morning and drove down looking for Splash. It has moved South a few doors down from its prior location. The inside is clean and the service was very friendly. We ordered Breakfast. All of us thought the flavors were excellent. The portions were very good size for the amount charged. They did not have a large selection of items on the Breakfast menu and we didn’t ask to see if they would serve us off of the Lunch menu. Overall, a very nice way to start our morning. Cash Only. Leave the American Express and Visa at home. Thank you.

After being here several times, it’s time to give them a serious thumbs up! Definitely five stars. The first time we came here was last August. We were with a large group that(sort of) took over the place, while we were celebrating the day after a destination wedding. Everyone had a great time. We ordered individually and the staff was very accommodating. I was ordering a pitcher of margarita’s at a time, so that I could walk around and pour them for friends — lots and lots of fun, with a lot of support from the staff. Before continuing, it is important to know that the setting is spectacular. Spectacular. One more time: SPECTACULAR! I think that the name«Splash» is from the waves crashing unto the rocks directly in front of the bar. You could not ask for a more spectacular(yes, again) setting. This alone is worth the price of admission. Since our initial visit, we have gotten to know NIcholas(one of the owners) and Tony(one of the bartenders) a bit. They treat us like family. We like that a lot. They will be moving a few hundred feet south in about a month, to a building which has at least as good a view, but is much larger! Can’t wait! Will definitely come down to check that out. We’ve had breakfast, dinner, and many appetizers here. Everything has been outstanding. Today we shared the guacamole and each had a shrimp cocktail — fresh and divine.(Should confess that the Ceviche was not like what we expected… but that won’t stop us from continuing our love affair!) One of my Unilocal friends commented that this was a Gringo type place — but not in a negative way. I don’t care — I would come every day if I were close by.(I would also be constantly drunk and weight about fifty pounds more…)

So fortunate to have been guided here by Locals who know what they are talking about and have eaten here for so many years… The view at sunset was stunning this Sunday!!! Making their rustic outdoor patio section a true picture of what the Mexican coast does best, which is romance! They had a decent glass of wine, which made my day! Enjoyed sharing the Shrimp Ceviche, Shrimp Tacos, Guacamole & Lobster w Flour Tortillas, Rice & Beans… Was nervous about eating Salad but had no problems after consuming the Caesar Salad so they must use safe produce here… The service was absolutely impeccable and the music was lovely! It was strange that all the smoking was being done inside the restaurant but great because it left the patio incidentally smoke free! Would definitely recommend if you are inclined to Seafood and willing to overlook the few standard oddities which are typical down south…

We heard this was a good place to go south or Puerto Nuevo and it was. The place too a bit to find, but the easiest directions are exit going south at Puerto nuevo… go through town and when you are on the free road(service road), find KM52. You will see the sign… follow towards the beach. Lobster was well done, even though we are out of season. Restaurant was nice and the food was good. Was a good mix of locals and gringos. but more gringos. They had a great band there this saturday… Good music and good drink. Downside is they allow smoking in the bar area where the band was playing. So, of course my 4 year old son wanted to dance as he always does… the people all enjoyed watching him, but we did not like the smoke at all. Only downside. They need to make smokers go outside. We will go back multiple times as we go to Baja often.

I had a wonderful breakfast. It was super hot food — and I loved it! It was the first time on this trip to have the food served steaming! The service was excellent and friendly. Don’t miss it! View is worth the stop by itself.

Splash is one of our go to places in Baja. It has a good mix of expat gringos and locals alike. The restaurant is not big and the inside seating is limited, so it’s a good idea to get here early. Summer is better since there is plenty of outdoor seating. There is a bar in the back which also hosts live music. The bartenders are very generous on the tequila when ordering margaritas. The place itself is kind of hidden so you have to keep a look out for the sign which is painted on a wall near the road, it’s just passed a toll road exit about 5 minutes south of Primo Tipia. Then you have to drive down a dirt road to a parking lot where an attendent will make sure that you get a spot. The restaurant faces the ocean on the edge of a cliff. The menu is mostly seafood items including shellfish, fish and lobster. You have to try the Seven Seas Soup which is delicious and filled with shellfish, fish broth and topped with half a lobster tail. The steamed clams lobster bisque and black sea bass is also delicious. The seafood are of highest quality and flavorful. And the prices are reasonable including the drinks. Two Margaritas came out to about $ 6. Definitely a must try and a good alternative to Puerto Nuevo. Only downside is they are cash only.

Great find recommended to us by an expat who lives nearby. We had another couple with us and started with fried oysters and margaritas. Pretty tasty! Three of us had the black sea bass and the third had salmon. All of us enjoyed our meals. Each meal included a salad, potatoes, and veggies. The fish was cooked perfectly! I had a couple glasses of Chardonnay which complimented the fish well. We shared the cheesecake and strawberry ice cream for dessert. They were both excellent! Very casual place with a great view, live music, good service, and best of all, great food! We’ll be back!

If you are cruising through Baja California and want a meal that is unforgettable, go to Splash. It’s a bit hard to find, but well worth the hunt. Once you’ve passed Rosarito, take the exit with no name just before the Half Way House. I know, not very clear instructions, but if you see the Half Way House on the Free Road, turn around and go back. That’s the only way to tell you where the exit is. Next, you’ll go straight across the Free Road and down what appears to be a driveway, but it is actually a small dirt road that leads directly to a little slice of heaven — Splash. They have a parking guard there who will dutifully watch your vehicle while you eat — make sure to give him a little something for his efforts. The restaurant is called Splash because it’s situated on the edge of the ocean where the water crests onto the rocks and splashes up through a blowhole. It is a beautiful place to watch the ocean at its best and for an amazing Happy Hour sunset. There’s an outdoor patio with lots of tables or inside tables and a bar where a wall of windows also offers you a terrific view. The drinks are reasonable and the wine list is outstanding, but the specialty of the house is the seafood. They have all kinds of local fresh seafood and Mexican dishes. We ordered the Puerto Nuevo style lobster which came perfectly prepared. It was accompanied by beans and rice, fresh tortillas and salsa, and some of the most delicious wine I tasted on the trip. There was live music and people dancing. Street vendors came through hocking there wares, and locals laughed and ate all night long. It was spectacular! Our evening at Splash was the highlight of our trip. I highly recommend it to anyone passing through Baja Norte! Stop at Splash!
