El Gaucho Argentino

My husband and I have come here for about 2 years and the lomito sandwich and fries are the best! The owners are very accommodating and friendly and it’s one of our top choices for lunch when we are in town! Try, you won’t be disappointed!

We tried this fantastic hole in the wall restaurant this past weekend during our trip to Rosarito.
We enjoyed a big plate of freshly grilled (HUGE) ribeye steak and Argentine style potato salad (which is just regular potato salad with green olives) that was big enough for two of us to share for around $ 25 USD total. The meat is grilled just outdoor the tiny dining room which probably only seats a dozen people.
The service was outstanding with the fully bilingual waitstaff and the owner constantly checking on us and making friendly conversation. The chef who was grilling, even gave us a few free bites of flap meat which was delicious and made us want to change our order.
They even have alfajor, the traditional baked Argentine biscuit cookies for dessert.
My friend wanted wine, but they only had California wines, which was disappointing, since we are from California and would’ve better enjoyed local varieties such as from the nearby Guadalupe Valley in Mexico.

Delicious meal! My boyfriend and I stopped by this restaurant tonight and we were so glad we did. Great steaks — he had the ribeye and I had the filet sandwich, yummy papas, chimchurri sauce, salad, a couple of glasses of Pinot and friendly service. Put this place on your list for the next time you visit Rosarito Beach!

The other reviews are right on. Great food and really reasonably priced. My seven year old daughter says «this place is awesome!!»
Definitely eat on Saturday when they do the outdoor BBQ… btw, the flan is fantastic too…

Me and my gf have heard about this place for a while but hadn’t been until today. boy have we missed out. We had the empanadas (carne was my favorite), papas fritas, and the lomito sandwich (filet minon). Everything was fresh, hot, and was accompanied with delicious chimichurry. If your in town make sure make a trip here, you won’t regret it.

I’ve been coming here since this business was in a cart. They have grown sooooooo much in just a few short years! My wife and I love the lomito sandwich and garlic sprinkles fries done a lil crispy. Simply the best quality and super tender meats! Thanks for the wonderful fast and friendly service. I will see u Saturday!

love love love this argentinian restaurant in the heart of rosarito. great assorted meat parrillada, empanadas and homemade alfajor pastries. have returned twice and it always gets better. love the warmth of the owners too and the ever joyful presence of grandpa daniel.

VERY very good steak sandwiches!
These aren’t your Arbys, Togos, Subway sandwiches. These are THICK TENDER filet mignon steak sandwiches!
They’re so tender that you bite right through them. The flavor is bursting out! The bread is perfectly crisp, fluffy and chewy. Onions are nicely grilled. Add some chimichurri and you’re in heaven! Heck, add some chimichurri to the potato salad, bread and butter, and anything else you’re stuffing into your mouth!
Wash it all down with a nice Chilean red (stay away from the Tisdale crap).
Will be back!

The food is excellent and the owners and staff go out of their way to make your taste buds jump for joy! A must for great food in Rosarito.
Good prices too.

If it’s Saturday and you find yourself wandering the streets of Rosarito, make sure you don’t eat two perrones, a quesadilla, some grilled jalapenos and a Squirt from Tacos El Yaqui. Porque? Because on Saturday there is a bad ass Argentinian sidewalk BBQ going on out front of, El Gaucho!
Point being, we were stuffed. Beyond stuffed, and when we stumbled upon this place we wished we could jump in a Mexican time machine because the food cooking on the hot grill looked and smelled incredible. To top it all off the family eating inside didn’t make it any easier by ranting and raving about their meal… «you have to try this place! Come on in here, just try it!» It took some arm twisting but we crumbled after being dished some samples from the chef. Instantly we sent one buddy to the corner store to buy a six pack of beer while we pulled up to a table and ordered a combo plate (with waaaaaaay too much meat) for 300 pesos. This platter of Argentinian beauty consisted of sweetbreads, beef ribs, Argentinian sausage and was topped off with a beautiful homemade chimichurri — seriously delicious and for about $ 20.00 US, absolutely worth it when sharing.
We also loved toying with the black lab who hangs out on the roof of the neighboring auto mechanic business. He was the sweetest and most playful pup in Rosarito and the lucky beneficiary of our scraps. Will we be back? Abso-​friggin-​loutely, but this time with plenty of room in my belly to enjoy the experience to the fullest.

Love this place! The food is amazing and the owners and staff are always smiling and are fantastic people. We come in regularly. We always bring in friends that are visiting and recommend them to anyone in town.
