Best Tacos in Rosarito! If your looking for quality, then look no further. The 24hr marinating meat process is Delicious! Although the portions are large, remember to order another one, you’ll thank me later!

Super Good Tacos(Perron). Around twice as much as the average Taco stand, but much higher quality. The staff is super nice, but on a busy weekend, you might have to wait a bit. It’s worth the wait!

20 years ago I bought a house north of Rosarito and our contractor took us to Tacos El Yaqui. A trip to my Mexican getaway is never complete without a trip to Yaquis. You will NEVER have a carne asada taco like this anywhere. Starts with a homemade flour tortilla but the oak fired carne is the real star. Add in some unreal jack cheese and pinto beans and you have the best taco possible. Grab some roasted jalepenos, radishes and limones for the perfect compliment to this dish. I can’t tell you how many of my friends and family share my love of Yaquis. Some people complain that a flour tortilla with beans is not a taco… so I just call it the best I’ve ever had

Definitely a place to visit every time we are in town! Thick juicy pieces of meat with every bite. These tacos are not your normal street tacos, they are supersized and I only order two everytime. There is a line everytime but it moves quickly and you need to get there before 5pm, cause they do run out and not open after sunset.

These tacos(really perrones/small quesadillas) are fantastic. We have been coming here for over ten years. The only thing to remember is that if the line is very long(which is often) go two blocks north to El Gerente — same exact food by the previous head cook. But they really are great. I know people that drive from LA for a couple of hours just to eat and go home!

When a taco stand only sells ONE kind of taco — carne asada — and there’s a long line, you know that this place knows what it’s doing. The menu is like In-N-Out here, as the taco menu merely lists 3 things: a regular taco with cheese(40 Peso Dollars), without cheese(35 Peso Dollars) and drinks. We each ordered a taco and absolutely fell in love with the flour tortillas. They were like nothing I’ve had before — sponge-like, fluffy, so fresh and elastic. This taco easily outdoes the best ones I’ve had in Tijuana, which already smashes the best spots in San Diego and Los Angeles. They have a whole bunch of grilled chile peppers that are nice and blackened and so spicy and delicious! The workers were funny because they called it «Mexican candy.» This is literally a little shack with only outdoor bench tables, and you pay at a window after you’re done eating. TIP: Get a Coca Cola Light. Why Americans are stuck with Diet Coke I don’t know, because Mexicans and Europeans get Coca Light which is delicious and doesn’t taste like chemicals.

These tacos are really good but they are more like a hybrid of a gringo and a mexican street taco. They use flour tortillas and have melted cheese so it has a dramatically different flavour than its mexican counterpart. For my tastes i still prefer the original where i can add as much salsa as i like and i think corn tortillas are better. But that being said, these are really good and the meat is really tender and flavourful.

I don’t understand why people deduct a star for long lines. Of course, nobody likes to wait but reviews should be based on service and the food. Luckily, my group somehow managed to arrive just before the line started to get long. HA! This taco heaven was the first stop for our taco crawl last weekend and boooooooyyy, the perrones set the bar fairly high. This one was the unanimous winner. The asada was amazing. The tortilla was amazing. The salsa was fiery amazing. The guac was amazing.

So good. Follow the scent of the outdoor grill to this great little taco stand. Everything comes together — the melted cheese, the beans, the steak. We had no wait on a Saturday at 11am in October. A new go-to in Rosarito! A few tips: Get the Perrones. You pay at the window to the left side. Portions are large for tacos!

I have to deduct a star for the incredibly long wait. If it wasn’t for the 45min I waited on the sidewalk this would be 5+ stars. The meat is grilled right in front of you and the portion size is huge. The flour tortillas are tasty, the cheese melted on them is delicious. Even the guacamole is good. The whole thing together is even better than the sum of its parts. Closed Wednesdays. They are expanding so hopefully you will get a true 5 star experience soon.

This is my go to anytime I’m in Rosarito. They have the BEST tacos ever and great friendly service. Try it out but don’t tell too many people about this gem.

Really good tacos but expect a line. We waited about 45 mins. It was worth it though. The workers there are funny and entertaining. Wood is chopped in front of you. There’s a small wood fired grill where all the meat is cooked which is pretty impressive. After the meat is grilled, it’s then briefly braised for moisture. There are two types of tacos– the perones which comes with melted cheese and another that does not. Otherwise, expect fresh Guacamole, onions, cilantro, beans, and me duo sizes taco tortilla that’s on the fluffier side. They also have quesadillas. Cash only. Parking in adjacent lot. Plenty of seating space.

I have eaten my share of street tacos and always walk away feeling satisfied. So although I was encouraged by the long lines and clean look of this place, I was still thinking it will be a good street taco experience. Boy was I wrong, It was soooo much more. This was the best taco I have ever eaten in my life. I’m afraid to ask what the meat is marinaded in… must be cocaine or meth infused… highly, highly addictive! The perrones are out of this world. Very unique and unusual for flower tortillas and cheese to be infused into a street taco. There sauces and guacamole are also amazing and super fresh. What also impressed me was that all of their workers(the guys cutting up radishes, etc), were wolfing down perrones with big smiles on their faces. I’m not sure that these guys even draw a paycheck, they may just be getting ayce perrones! Don’t miss this spot. Closed on Wednesdays.

Went down to Rosarito this past weekend and per recommendation coworkers, I had to try the perrones from Yaqui’s. We had a big group of 14+ people so we ordered 30 perrones, 2 quesadillas, and 7 bebidas, and the staff was courteous and friendly despite the huge line behind us. The perrones are not your typical street tacos, but instead made w a regular sized flour(homemade) tortilla. Each one gets warmed up w melted cheese and then filled with asada, beans, cilantro, onions, salsa, and guac. We had kids and non-cilantro lovers so it was especially great that the staff was patient to accommodate each preference. 2 – 3 perrones per person is more than enough so don’t get too many! I think the tortillas are my fav part about this place. Definitely recommend you to try it out, but prepare yourself for a 20 – 30 min wait! FYI, they are closed on Wednesdays and they don’t sell beer so get it from the next door mercado!

Oh happy Yaqui day! We did not know what we were missing until we sat down at a table and tried to maneuver one of their«perrones» into our mouths. They start with a fine, homemade flour tortilla(a big one mind you) and create a melty cheesy quesadilla. Everyone knows and understands that, right? But it is the rest of the story you don’t know. The rhythmic sound of the chop, chop, chop of a machete sized knife on a well worn butcher’s block as they break those slabs of marinated steak down into bite sized morsels is mesmerizing. And after that mild white cheese melts into a gorgeous rich puddle, they start adding savory, whole pinto beans, freshly bbq’d carne asada(done over a hot wood fire in front of your nose), cilantro, onion, fresh guacamole sauce, and a semi-mild red salsa. It is enough to choke a horse, just one, and yet it is under $ 3. They bring this masterpiece proudly to your table, and then, here come the condiments, the radishes and juicy Mexican limes to squeeze over that pile of temptation. The amazing juices will dribble down your arm. And you will lick your arm shamelessly. Just warning you. You’d better not eat breakfast, because this one will take over occupation of your stomach and claim victory. And truth be told, your brain will tell you, «You want another one», even though your pathetic stomach will wimper, «Enough already. Remember. There is always mañana.» But the stomach will always lose the battle as you desperately seek out more. The dining area is relegated to a(more than half completed over a serious number of years, i.e. the«Mexican» way) paved outdoor patio under a sturdy roof. Plenty of tables, plenty of shade, plenty of eager customers who patiently form a line for their delicious food. It is well worth the wait and will give you a chance to people watch the vibrant lifestyle of the Baja. Embrace… then…eat. Bring cash. US$ or Pesos are fine.

we spent memorial day weekend at the Rosarito Beach Hotel. it’s been more than 10 years since we have vacationed down here(it used to be a monthly trip before kids)…now our kids are older and we are going to bring it back into our lives. so.now that we have Unilocal in Mexico… we didn’t rely on walking down the street and randomly picking out where to eat… i consulted with my Unilocalers to tell me where to eat. Yaqui was at the top of the recommendation list… and it just so happened to be a block away from our hotel(I could actually see the line formed outside from our 15th floor room!) after strolling through the artfest… we arrived at Yaqui. despite warning to not order too much(and we thought we weren’t ordering too much)…we had leftovers. However the line was long… and i would rather have too much than have to get back in line… and the leftovers were a fabulous lunch the next day! we each had a quesadilla and 1 or more perrones… i have had a pretty strong belief that tacos should be on a corn tortilla… not a flour tortilla… well the exception is here… flour tortilla topped with melted cheese, carne, beans, cilantro, onions, salsa, guac… OMG amazing! i wish i had an extra stomach to eat more! the long line is worth it… i bought ice cream from the ice cream guy outside, to satisfy my kids until they got their food… hubby was in line… then… then i bought them a fanta(and a beer for myself) at the store across the street… while my husband was still in line oh wait… forgot the water… went back to the store and bought water(yes my husband was still in line!)… while we waited… they brought us radishes and jalapenos. yummers! we munched on those… when we were done… the wrapped our leftovers to go! let me just say… don’t wait in line… just go somewhere else… so the line can be shorter for me =)

There’s a scene in ‘Once Upon a Time in Mexico’ where Agent Sands, the evil henchman tastes a slow-roasted pork so captivatingly delicious he vows to shoot the cook. Why? It was ‘too good’. And balance must be restored in the world. Suffice it to say, some things just cannot be improved by man or God. It is for this reason my heart trembled deep with fear upon the first bite of the arrachera taco. Yes, it’s ‘shoot the cook’ good. If u made it here you know the details of what lay inside these creations. Just get here. Let your taste buds to the rest. Lives have been saved by El Yaqui Tacos. Maybe even taken. As long as this building stands I will eat here, and I will defend the cooks if I have to. Stay hungry my friends…

About a month ago I thought I was being hustled by a Tijuana cab driver when he told me that the street taco place that I wanted to go to was closed and I should go to a place called Tacos Perrones instead. Drivers get kickbacks for bringing businesses new customers and I wasn’t going to fall for it — turns out he was correct. Our first choice was closed so we followed the driver’s lead and cruised in for what was a life-changing taco experience. Fast forward to this past weekend at Tacos El Yaqui in Rosarito… Okay, «perrones» is a style of taco, which was created twenty five years ago at this exact location. They’re so damn good that a few places like the one I went to in Tijuana have ripped them off and duplicated the original with some success but this style of taco has yet to catch fire. What is it? Well, start with a flour tortilla, melt some gooey white cheese(almost like a quesadilla), add freshly chopped skirt steak(arrachera), a spoonful of beans, cilantro, onions, guacamole and some spicy red salsa and you have yourself a «perrone.» Eat it just like any other taco but proceed with caution as your mind will be blown. Don’t come here looking for al pastor, carne asada, pollo, burritos, birria or any other Mexican delight — they simply don’t have it and they’re a dime a dozen on the main drag. They literally have four items on the menu so if you walk up to the tiny counter next to the smokey oak burning grill you’re either getting a perrone, a sencillo(perrone without cheese), a quesadilla and a bebida. That’s it. They know one trick and like a slick, fast-handed magician, they pull it off well. Two perrones, a quesadilla and a Squirt rang in at 100 pesos, or about $ 7.00US and equated to waaaaaay too much food. Cannot wait to come back to Tacos El Yaqui! Video:

I used to come to Tacos El Yaqui often when surfing in Baja. Some time has passed since my last visit to Baja so I suggested to my friend a day trip to Rosarito and along the way we would check out some of my favorite local surf spots. My friend’s family was a little worried because like a majority of folks are that believe Mexico is going crazy and it is unsafe and that is simply not true. I promised /guaranteed my friend at the end of our trip she would have the BEST taco she has ever had, she agreed. We crossed the border and with the new construction it is impossible to get lost. Simply stay to your far right, follow the signs for the 1D ‘scenic road’ which will take you on the ‘toll’ road which parallels the Ocean and has some amazing views. Along the way we made a few pit stops at some of my favorite surfing spots and others stops to enjoy the sights and even met some amazing artists. Once reaching Rosarito Tacos El Yaqui is easy to find simply look at the map of where this spot is located and it is impossible to get lost. As seen on the map this spot is easily accessible off of the main boulevard. Tacos El Yaqui offers ‘free’ parking and if you are worried(and you shouldn’t be) you can stand in line & eat your meal and never take your eyes off of your vehicle. This spot always has a line and on the weekends the line is longer than during the week but either way these tacos are worth the wait. As you pull up to Tacos El Yaqui the aroma from the carne asada being grilled outside for all to see on a wood burning grill is both mouth-watering & intoxicating. As you wait in line you will see the workers at this spot simply working their tails off to ensure each and every customer has a memorable experience and a fantastic meal. The setup here could not be any simpler. Tacos El Yaqui serves one kind of taco and one kind of taco only. As you wait in line a worker is cooking carne asada and jalapenos that are placed on the grill from the cook inside of the kitchen who basically just flops meat directly from a cutting board directly onto grill. Inside the kitchen the cooks are grilling flour tortillas with a little white Mexican cheese inside of them. Once your meat is ready it is transferred from the grill to a chopping block where the cooks inside chop your meat into tiny little pieces right in front of you using a tree stump as a base and a meat cleaver as the chopper. Once your tacos is loaded up with carne asada it is also loaded up with pinto beans(yes pinto beans) guacamole & pico de gallo and it ready to be served. If requested the staff will also cut up fresh jalapenos that have been lightly salted. My friend and I ordered 4 tacos and 1 order of jalapenos(I am allergic to jalapenos so I could not experience the fun) for a total cost of $ 12.00. The level of service does not stop there. The staff does not even allow you to carry your own food to your table they bring it to you and constantly check-in to see if you need anything during your meal and even walk around and ask you how your food is. The eating area is pretty much silent as customers enjoy an amazing meal. The last time I visited El Yaqui they did not serve beer but this time around they did. My friend and I did not see this until after we walked across the street and purchased a dos equis radler(with lime added) from a market for a whopping $ 1.50. I am not a drinker but I did steal a few sips of my girlfriend’s cerveza which was the perfect combo with this amazing meal. I am both sad & happy that this tacos stand is located in Rosarito because it forces me to eat something else the other 6 days of the week. If this taco stand was closer to the border or in the United States I could see myself eating here often and I mean real often. My friend is trying to learn to surf so when she feels comfortable enough to surf areas in Baja we will be hitting up this spot more often for a post surf meal. Here at El Yaqui you will have a mixture of both locals and tourists eating together. During our visit we had local construction workers, what appeared to be businessmen and Americans eating together. Finding local spots where locals eat you simply cannot go wrong. If you are looking for a taco that is going to blow your mind look no further than this spot. All tacos should be judged against this taco. The staff here truly works their behinds off so tip well it goes a long way and heck they might even remember you during your next visit=) Tip both the cooks at the window at the workers ensuring you have an amazing meal.
