Louve this café! Not easy to find a café where the staff are friendly and helpful! And the smoothies… to die for! Loved it and highly recommend :)

The food was delicious. I ordered the Corned Beef Hash ~$ 18, which came in 2 croquettes with an egg on top, and hollandaise sauce. The flavors meshed well. In the States, I was use to corned beef hash looking like a purée mixture of potato, beef, and salt. This was a welcomed change. I loved how the egg on top was cooked, runny on the inside while solid spherical shaped egg white all around.

Café with a view out to Rangitoto, but once again, just the usual cabinet food with the usual emphasis on sweet things… Pleasant enough vibe in café. Two of us had a small quiche each, one pumpkin and feta, one mushroom. But that’s exactly what it was just plain egg mixture with the veg in it. No seasoning whatsoever, totally flavourless. The quiches were advertised at $ 8.90each. Mistakenly assumed that the small salad presented with it was included in the price — obviously not. Two quiches and two coffees = $ 33.00! Horrified, voting with our feet, out the door.

This café is adorable!!! It has a lot of food choice for a café. I expected to go in and just get a coffee or juice, but ended up getting a delicious smoothie and quiche. If you are wanting a big dinner this is probably not the place, but perfect for lunch or a lighter dinner! They have fun coffee selections, lemonade, pastries, burgers, etc. The décor and ambiance is adorable and retro/hipster. The staff is laid back and relaxed(not snobby at all)! They have patio seating with a great view, or you can sit inside amongst the eclectic décor and enjoy your favorite magazine or book(which they have sitting around!) Adorable and tasty!

I’ve driven past this café several times, it’s the new kid on the block in Rothesay Bay. Businesses come and go in this spot so I really didn’t pay much attention. Met some friends for lunch and was surprised by the retro interior — a mix of recycled tables and chairs, couch area, poster-lined walls and a huge central table(looks like you could fit 20 people around it easily). We sat on the covered deck out back with a small view out to Rangitoto. They had an ample selection of cabinet food(all the usual suspects) and Millers coffee. I settled on something from the menu and ordered risotto balls with roast pumpkin and feta, others had the kumara rosti with eggs/bacon/sausages and a hamburger. The food was simple, not spectacular. No great flavour combinations to report, the usual balsamic drizzle on my spinach leaves. The hamburger really was just that, a hamburger on a plate(yes, no fries!). I’ll give it another try sometime, maybe just coffee and a sweet thing.
