Beatnik Publishing is a boutique little store that has been going on for a few years now, in different locations. Their current location is by far the best, and the retail shop is a great asset to the business.
Beatnik sell a whole range of books they choose to publish, and in the New Zealand market, managing to stay afloat must be close to a miracle. Their output isn’t limited to one genre, with items ranging from Auckland Graffiti to Cookbooks. They also put out a range of notebooks which look sturdy enough to handle a hard days work, and come in a choice of 6 different colors.

This is pretty great. I mean, I think the only things people should really bother doing are the things they’re passionate about, which is essentially what Beatnik Publishing House and bookshop seem to be about. It’s basically a little independent publishing house that makes notebooks and also put out a book out two every now and then. Their premises, like the books they publish, are very nice. It’s all clean lines and negative spacing. It’s a nice, little slice of zen on New North road. Definitely worth a browse.

Beatnik is an incredible little place doing amazing big things! As a creative studio and independent publishing business, their work showcases the relationships between those creating and those enjoying. A lovely little nook in the city filled with interesting pieces and creative people. The team at Beatnik produce books, photography and design works for international acclaim.
