Now this is the sort of burger joint I have been seeking in the last few months. Being based in Singapore doesn’t give you a huge range of options. The wait staff were easy going and helpful. I had the Beef burger with Kumera fries and it satisfied my jet-lagged hunger. Good value burgers!

Finally we tried this burger burger place after hearing so many feedbacks! This small burger place is tuck in ponsonby central, very busy Friday night, we manage to secure 2 bar table seats which is cool as we can the whole burger assemble process! We ordered a beef burger, a chicken burger in bunnuce and truffle potato skin. The meats are very fresh and well seasoned. Beef patties are cook perfectly(medium rare), and tasty chicken thighs.

At first I thought this joint was a fad but after a few visits I’m totally sold. The only burger joint in NZ I’ve been to that actually asks how you’d like your meat(medium rare obviously). Burgers can get messy with any more than a couple of additions but having options is so good. Only wish tomato was an option to add to my burger. Open til 11.30 most/all nights so theres always time for a burger.

The best steak I ever had was at a little café in Brussels. It was a Steak, salad and frites deal for € 5. I wasn’t even asked how I wanted it cooked, it was served rare and was as I said, the best I’d ever had. The next best was served up at a restaurant in Dahab. From a beast slaughtered and prepared a day before I’d ordered it and had it served up. Again, this was served rare. I went to Burger Burger specifically to dine on their… burger. Funny that. The décor is pretty cool. Very confined for space, but I liked it. I was greeted as I entered and promptly handed a menu by a waitress who was more than competent and proficient at meeting and greeting patrons. The service was genuinely friendly and hospitable. I ordered the chocolate thickshake and a beef burger. I ordered cheese and an egg as extra. The waitress advised me that the beef patties are served medium rare and asked if I okay with that. I told her I was. The thickshake that came out promptly and was sooooo Dee-lish, it took me all of my willpower not to order another! The burger came out and I was excited to finally be able to demolish it. In my first bite, the yolk from the egg exploded and most of it ran down the side of my burger and onto my burger dish. It was raw yolk, not partly cooked but raw. I turned the burger to try and retain the remainder of the yolk. As I did this, some of the egg white also fell from my burger. Part of the egg white was gelatinous and white in colour, indicating it had been heated, but there was also translucent raw egg white. This egg must have only been on a hot grill for a few seconds. I figured that didn’t matter, the burger was tasty enough and kept eating. As I continued eating, there was a slightly bitter, slightly tart taste as though something pickled or vinegary was overpowering the taste of this burger. I couldn’t even taste the cheese in this burger, the vinegar was so overpowering. I took another bite and as I looked at my beef patty I noticed that it was bleeding!!! The patty had been seared on both sides, but the middle was red raw and blood was leaking. WTF? I thought it was supposed to be medium rare? Not raw. I was in a hurry to get over the Auckland Harbour Bridge to Orewa and then to another place in Henderson so I gobbled the burger regardless. I should have taken a photo and raised my concerns but I’ll head back another day and place another order. I’ll be having stern words with the chef if they serve me two minute slop again. Each year, I print out the NZ Heralds list of eating establishments that have an e-grade food rating. This means that serious deficiencies had been found by food inspectors and the businesses are shut down until their deficiencies are rectified. I eat at these places to keep my cast iron stomach prepared for the worst and didn’t have any issues with raw meat and raw egg served up as what could only be called slop. What a disappointment. Burger Burger, you’ll have to lift your game if you’re gonna charge as much as you do for your burgers. I don’t mind paying $ 9 dollars for your thickshakes, because they are divine. But with the name that you have, your establishment should be on fleek with its burgers!

I’ll admit, it’s exceptionally rare that I find a burger outside of the States that even compares to what’s available in most major US cities, but Burger Burger dishes up a burger that’s very close. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? It’s difficult for the atmosphere at Burger Burger to be anything but good when you’re in the hot new Ponsonby Market area, but the staff and open style kitchen at BB keep things friendly and efficient. Even on what was a holiday Wednesday, the place was good and packed right at the opening bell. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? In a city where I quickly realized that NZ$ 15.00 was a minimum of sorts for a high quality meal, I was truly stunned to find that my Beef Burger only came to NZ$ 12.00, which as then NZ$ 14.00 once I added cheese. While the burger wasn’t huge, it was of good portion with a good burger to patty ratio. In all, I found better value at Burger Burger than essentially anywhere else in Auckland. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? The Beef Burger at Burger Burger was, as I mentioned, very much on par with what I’m used to in the States. A buttery and toasted bun came together nicely with what was a pretty significant and flavorful patty, and while the whole thing was a tad bit too salty, I equally appreciated the mayo and mustard combination. There was no lettuce, which was a tad bit odd, but all in all I thoroughly enjoyed the burger. Single Star Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? Burger Burger is, as I understand it, the best burger in Auckland, and I always feel like burgers — so yes. Star Granted.

I’m pretty picky about my burgers and there aren’t many places in NZ that do them well in my view. Burger Burger is easily the best I’ve found short of a 12 hour flight to the West Coast. The burgers are outstanding(using fresh rather than pre-cooked meat is an excellent start), the venue is always packed and it has a great vibe to it. Only downside is the wait on a busy thursday or friday evening. The Newmarket site is just as good but adds a sundae bar and more seating — and its just as busy. Highly recommend the potato skins if you like truffles.

Tasty burgers and sides — loved the potato skins — shakes were great and cocktails — $ 18 for a burger is quite a lot — good experience not sure if it is a weekly takeaway at $ 80 for two

This is no ordinary burger joint. Burger Burger is über-cool. Love the NY vibe and brawny menu. Huge props for offering a healthy lettuce wrap option for the burger! I would usually be all over that but these buns are just too good to pass up! They are pillowy and tender… sort of like the brioche bun I fell in love with at the Spotted Pig in NY. These burgers are BIG on taste and thankfully, not supersized, so although a tad pricey that’s a winning combination in my books!

Just had THE worst experience … arrived at Burger Burger for a late Sunday lunch with a friend. The place was heaving full — a good sign I always think — so our name and mobile number was taken as they assured us they’d have a table in 15 minutes. 25 minutes later we get the text to say our table is ready. When we get there they have two large tables at the front, but proceed to show us the the very back bowels of the restaurant next to the rubbish. My friend and I both commented that we’d prefer not to sit there and the maître d commented that they had a larger party. Since when does one qualify as a second rate customer? Just the two you — then you won’t mind crumby seating!!! I don’t think so! My friend and I we’re gob-smacked. Wed waited 25 minutes for a table but a larger party who just arrived got prime seating!!! We won’t be going back!!!

If for nothing else, you have to come to this place for the charred broccoli with garlic butter and almonds($ 8). It was one of the better side dishes I have had in a long time. First off, the process of checking in and waiting for a seat was totally flawed. They require a phone number when you check in so their system can call you when your table is ready. This is a great system for those who have a phone. Not so great if you don’t have one. After some begging with the guy at the counter, I finally convinced him to just do the old fashion method for me and flag me down when a table or seat at the bar opened up. He was actually cool about it when the time came to sit down and I think he sat me and my partner a lot earlier than we would have had we used the phone method because he didn’t want to forget about us. Once we were seated at the bar, we were able to experience the hustle and bustle of this super busy burger joint. Every seat was full and every cook was sweating. It was absolutely packed inside this little place. All of the burgers are char broiled and served on giant buns. They are all $ 12 but require extra money for add ons like cheese, bacon, pickles, egg, etc. This can make the burgers kind of pricey by the time you have a well-balanced burger meal. Overall, these burgers were very good. The crowd out front of the restaurant can tell you that without needing to try any of the food. The crowd was buzzing and the food and drinks were flowing. Everything about this place was good.

Honestly the best burgers I’ve ever had. You’ll probably find a half hour wait but it’s well worth it. Head down to Bedford’s Liquor and Soda at the other end of the lane for a delicious cocktail. Different to the likes of Velvet or Fergburger, they perfect each meat, pairing it with the best ingredients. The small menu offers a Beef, Chicken, Pork, Lamb, Fish, Veggie, and Special option that changes weekly. My favorites are the Chicken and the Beef. Something to look out for is the beef comes medium rare unless you request otherwise. The potato skins can be hit and miss, but regular fries are always good and the broccoli is surprisingly good with slivered almonds and garlic.

Yet another burger joint in Auckland’s crowded burger market. This is in. a great spot at Ponsonby Central and you can dine in or take out. I really like that you can order without the bun and have as a lettuce wrap. I also like that the menu is not huge — just lamb, beef, fish, vegetables, pork, etc. I don’t like the $ 2 charge for pickles(this is a rip off) and a whopping $ 18 for the pulled pork burger is way too steep(the other burgers ate $ 12).

I finally made it to Burger Burger after hearing all the excellent reviews since it opened. It was everything I expected. The food was great and the service was fast, professional and top-notch. We had a vege burger wrapped in lettuce(a bunnuce) with extra fresh chilli, a beef burger and a side of fried broccoli with shaved almonds. The food was faultless. Well priced, good portions and very well made and presented — of course it was delicious as well. Highly recommend the vege burger which is very tasty and something different from your standard meat burger. The fried broccoli is legendary here, and it didn’t disappoint. I’m going to be back here to try some different burgers and sides. The only things that could be improved is the non-alcoholic drink selection — there’s only water or homemade cola.

A burger is a burger is a burger just couldn’t be more wrong in my mind. Especially when you’re a vegetarian. What ingredients did they experiment with this time? Falafel? Kumara? Beans? Tofu? Tempeh? Soy? …and so forth. The options are endlessssss. For Burger Burger’s vegetarian option(sadly they only have one), they went with a mixture of chickpeas, parsley, coriander, rocket, feta, beetroot, tomato jam & cumin yogurt. Niiiice. The burger was good. Unique. But it didn’t tick all the boxes for me. The parsely-ness seemed to overpower both the taste and consistency of the burger. The addition of beetroot helped balance the flavor and offset the dryness but… when my beetroot slice ran out, so did the moisture. The shoestring fries were tasty, but not really the ‘shoestring’ shape I’d expect from such a description(i.e they were just slightly thinner fries). Extra points for decent ketchup though(that was also freeeee of charge!). We did takeaway, but this place was jam-packed. I noticed that the tables inside seemed to be veryyyy crammed together so I’d recommend snagging an outdoor table to, you know, breathe ;) Didn’t try a shake but they looked prettttty awesome.

Headed here for a quick dinner after consuming quite a bit of cider. Place was PACKED! Luckily, the host took our orders as take-away but allowed us to sit once there was a table available. My friend went with the traditional beef burger whilst I went with the Special Special Texas Chick(free-range chicken, coleslaw, ranch and avocado) along with their critically acclaimed burnt broccoli with almonds. Broccoli was spot on! It’s filling my void for brusselsprouts as they are out of season. The chicken burger was good, the slaw adding a nice touch. Why have it as a side when it could be on the burger? It’s all going to the same place and they don’t fight with each other. Efficiency! I will have to return for the actual beef burger, as my friend was savoring every bite of it and commenting how good it was. A proper Burger Burger burger.

Thank you Unilocal! Was in Auckland with some friends and popped open the Unilocal app to see what’s good and stumbled across Burger Burger. Besides the fact that it’s in Ponsonby Central… this place feels like a hole in the wall and also kind of like a Kiwi version of Chur Burger. Expect a queue, as we had to wait an hour. We were starving and ordered a side each, from their standard fries, to their Kumara fries, and cheese covered cauliflower. We also ordered their beef burger and fish burger. Their Kumara fries(sweet potato) are some of the best I’ve ever had. Seriously. Their standard fries were pretty good too, as was the cheesy cauliflower. I got the burger with bacon of course, and it was unexpectedly delicious. So was the fish burger, which is panko crusted and was like a Macca’s filet-o-fish on steroids. Beef burger is better, but the fish burger is close behind. Burger Burger indeed.

Last weekend, two friends and I finally made it to Burger Burger(yes, it’s been long overdue!). It was packed when we arrived, but not surprising as I have only heard good things about the place. We were told there would be a 20 minute wait, but that was okay because we went to a nearby park(Brown Reserve), swung on swings and re-lived our childhood! Upon walking in, we first noticed the décor and surroundings — so much good looking liquor! Plus the colourful mural above the liquor, the pin-striped menus, and last but not least, the waiters’ uniforms and their cool«BB» caps — we all wanted one! Before I get to the food(most important thing in life), I must talk about the service. Absolutely top notch! Our waiter explained the menu thoroughly and gave great recommendations. He was super cool(and pretty cute too!). Now, for the food… My eyes were set on the Pork Burger — mainly because it came lathered with their homemade BBQ sauce(best thing ever), but after ordering, our waiter soon told me the sad news… they had run out of pork! But then he said I could choose any other burger and they would add BBQ sauce to it, free of charge(it’s usually $ 2 extra for sauces). I chose the Chicken Burger($ 12) as it consisted of a ‘Cajun grilled chicken thigh, red pepper salsa, tomato jam, aged cheddar and rocket aioli’. This was definitely the perfect match! It was THE most delicious burger I have had in my life! One friend chose the Beef Burger with ‘Savannah grass-fed beef patty with BB secret mix, homemade pickles, tomato jam, mustard and mayo’($ 12) — luckily I got a taste, because this was also delicious and incredibly juicy! My other friend chose the Lamb Burger(also $ 12) but instead chose to have lettuce instead of a bun(also known as a ‘Bunnuce’). It looked pretty snazzy rolled up in The Telegraph newspaper when it arrived, but personally, I wouldn’t order it solely based on the fact that it makes the other ingredients soggy. However, it was pretty darn good, just like the other two burgers! To accompany our burgers, we also ordered the ‘Shoestring Fries’ with aioli($ 6) and the ‘Potato Skins’ with truffle oil($ 7). Who knew you could actually eat potato skins? Well, I didn’t think they even existed! But damn, they were AMAZING. Never tasted anything like them. Just went to heaven! As for the shoestring fries, well they were pretty good. Because we were eating like cavemen, I had to ask for extra extra aioli — they were that good! If three burgers, potato skins and shoestring fries weren’t enough, two of us also couldn’t resist ordering one of their thickshakes($ 9). Made with Lewis Road Creamery Organic Milk and Little Paddock Ice Cream, we were in absolute heaven AGAIN. Literally. The photos on my blog do it justice! So, Burger Burger. Well, what can I say about you? That I am absolutely head over heels, especially for your potato skin friends ;). You are my favourite eatery in Ponsonby Central to date and my friends and I can’t wait to spend many foodie afternoons with you!

Burger burger! They named it twice just in case you think they sell sausages. Jokes aside, I m a big fan of a well made burger. I mean I have very high standards when it comes to paying crap loads of money for what Macca sell you for a buck. Well I paid $ 18 for the old smokey which is back by popular demand according to the waitress, and $ 6 for a side of shoestrings. The waitress also made sure that I was aware that they cook the beef pattie to medium rare like how a good burger should be cooked. And I should inform them that I don’t know how to eat a burger by asking them to cook it to a different doneness. First thing I checked when I got the burger was the underside of the bun. And I was not disappointed, I saw the mandatory grill lines. It was lightly toasted and warm. Take note Better Burger! It should be nice and warm not cold! The cheese was dripping down the side of the burger, I was hungry I had to take a bite. And the juices oozed out of the burger, it was so juicy. I used two of their extra large napkins to wipe down my face and my hand during the eating process. The bacon and the BBQ sauce was just a sensory overload, the smokiness of it especially. I was for sure in some sort of trance at the table, much like a Homer Simpson moment. My mind is still blanked out right now, trying so hard to find big words to describe the taste of the burger. All I can manage to write right now is that all of you guys reading this should go and try their burgers yourself. It is that good! Chips are just on par with every good chip joints, I didn’t get to try the potatoes skin and the broccoli. I suppose a repeat visit is required now. One little side note, the beef pattie in my burger was more of medium than medium rare. It was still juicy though, so it did not make any difference.

Burger Burger. The newest and hip eatery in Ponsonby Central. Follows are very simple menu, with your standard protein options. You have the option of a bun or Bunnuce(bun made from lettuce). I’m not sure how I feel about this. On one hand I like the healthy option but… its a burger. burgers aren’t suppose to be healthy. If you want a bunnuce, then maybe the question is, «should I be at a place that serves burgers and chips? « Ive placed Burger Burger as a quick bite due to the space being pretty small and its quick service. The décor is funky and fresh with a bustling open kitchen. Its all quite crammed inside, with high tables and chairs made for 2 people. There’s seating along the kitchen bar and a few larger sharing tables. The burgers are def tasty. We ordered the Chicken and Pork Burgers both with pineapple. What I really like about Burger Burger is that all the patties aren’t patties. The pork burger uses pulled pork and the chicken burger uses chicken thigh. Kumara Chips were yum and I think $ 10 for a burger is reasonable for the size and flavour. The only downside was the pulled pork burger was quite wet and messy to eat. This may have been hindered by the pineapple but ultimately it could have been avoided if they can find a way to lessen the sauce from the slaw or the meat. Pretty good actually. Sunday night with a short wait(15mins) for a party of 5. We sat outside with the heaters and blanket. Still comfortably warm. We ordered 6 burgers(3 beef, 2 chickens and a pork. They ran out of fish burger.) with a side of potato skins and kumara chips. Yep we were hungry hahaha and fully under estimated how much food there would be. By the end of the night we all had food babies and waddled away happily. For drinks we had a ginger beer, two tap beers, rum rickety and a chocolate milkshakes. Mmmm that milkshake was the best! About $ 25 per person so pretty pricey for a burger dinner, but for Ponsonby central that’s normal haha
