Great location, good burgers but the place is in a serious need of an overhaul. It went from being this rad spot when it first opened to a dirty burger joint — but not the good kind. Sad to say I won’t go back until they clean up, there’s too many other cleaner burger shops around. On a positive– the vegan burger is delish

Yeaaahhhh I dunno. You can definitely murder a burger. Not saying they did. It was all gravy. Well… there was no gravy in it, but it was all good. I think I’d go again, just because it’s «the other burger joint» but I can’t deny I’d probably more consistently go to the local competition. In fairness, it was only once, and while it was tasty, it wasn’t «special.» And because my mama always tells me I’m special, I’m always in search of similar noms.

Got to try Murder Burger a while ago on their opening day when they had a special 2-for-1 deal. I don’t know if the fact that we got our burgers for cheaper made a difference, but I remember the burgers to be shockingly bad. I mean, REALLY bad. The meat was dry AND gristly, the toppings were flavourless, the bread resembled supermarket burger buns, the salad was wilted and the bacon was fatty and not even remotely crisp(the biggest crime!). I would honestly enjoy a generic $ 3 fast-food sandwich from Maccas and the like more than anything from Murder Burger. I am really not sure how they are going to survive with their pricing(10 to 13 dollars per burger) for much longer on Ponsonby road, which is already full of excellent burger outlets such as Burger Burger(best burgers in the world anyone?!), BurgerFuel or even Burger Wisconsin… Plus, every time I walk past the place it is pretty much empty so I guess it’s not just me who’s not too keen on their food.

Murder Burger has returned to ‘Ponsonby strip’ — after a few years absence! I was disappointed when they disappeared, then I found them again in Dominion Road, now back in my hood! They have 3 locations for the record(Manukau, Mt Eden & Ponsonby). You can order online, check them out on Facebook or give them a call. I decided on the ‘Beef Avo Bacon’($ 12.90) burger, my friend had ‘Chicken Avo Bacon’($ 13.90) we both had some side-kicks ‘Steak fries’($ 4.50) with 5 dips to choose from for 50cents each. Aioli wins my vote. They are a couple of tables to wait and/or demolish your ‘Cult’ burger! They do real ice cream shakes for $ 4.50 and you can sign up to be a VIP. The chap serving was pleasant and efficient. Food 7.5÷10. See you again soon!
