A forest green wood edge-paneled café set in the main road leading into the heart of Birkenhead with its wooden swing board of specials in front of it’s one-person door. One of which was their Café 47 special which I ordered– and was an excellent choice! Came with two round, non-crispy bacon pieces and two eggs your choice of style(got mine scrambled with parsley pieces on top) on a buttered piece of white toast. A good level of soggy-scrambled with adequate level of toasting on the bread to soak it up. Also a small triangle of crunchy hash brown potato goodness to complete the breakfast savoury trifecta. Also comes with a tea or coffee– got a small flat white with a small heart on top. Friend got the same and we agreed it was delicious. A very well made white that came in a paris-café reminiscent raspberry red cup and saucer. Friend got their french toast from their blackboard menu at the back of the store with other classic items such as pancakes, eggs bene and lunch savouries. Arrived on a clean-white large circular plate with bacon slipped between baguette slices, banana, maple syrup to pour and swirled artfully with rhubarb and red berry compote. It was beautiful as well as tasty. Sat indoor at one of their wooden tables right by their floor to ceiling glass window, one of the few tables left. Noticed it was quite packed by pre-lunch time when I first arrived and had to wait outside at one of the two square tables with plastic chairs. They had a dog bowl of water next to one of their tarpaulin barriers for your best friend if they are in attendance. If not, there is a rack of magazines to read, fridge cabinet of sweet things to peruse and an umbrella stand for rainy days. A casual, homey feel with one plaster white and opposite white weatherboard wall hanging various paintings. Friendly staff also– a great little café for couples or small groups to catch up at.

This is a nice café in Birkenhead shops, its nothing amazing. However what I like about it is that is nice and clean and the owners are very friendly and you can just tell they like to please their customers. I was there recently and a family came by with about 4 kids and they ordered milkshakes, and the owners come out of the kitchen with beaming faces like they were so proud of their milkshakes and good on them, its service like this that makes you want to come back to a place. They have the normal breakfast specials that most cafes in the area have, with eggs, toast, bacon and coffee. They also have highchairs available if you have babies or toddlers that need these.

This is a cute little café close to a few larger cafes in Birkenhead. A perfect stop for a piece of cake and a coffee in, or takeaway coffees as well. I enjoy the reading material; they have lots of magazines and newspapers to choose from. Lovely couple who work at the café are very friendly, and make beautiful mocha’s and flat whites which I grab if I am nearby or passing through. Usually has a more elderly clientele which I have noticed, however I am sure they are regulars to the spot and keep returning for the great hospitality and delicious coffee and cake.
