The café offers very tasty food, as well as very good atmosphere. The kiwi burger may sound like a theft(17 $), but trust me it is worth it. It is so big, that the only way to eat is to dismantle it. The design of the interior is not so good though. The pictures of the badly photographed food won’t make your jaw come down. It may also be worth noting that the staff is mainly Chinese. So, please talk through the order more clearly, as you may find yourself in the same situation as we did. We ordered mocaccino, but they brought us cappuccino.

We tried this place on a whim driving back from out west. The weather was crappy so we chose to sit inside, although they do have outdoor seating. Inside was very warm which would have been more appreciated in winter, but in summer it was a bit oppressive. The café isn’t huge but it seemed when we were there most of their customers were stopping in for takeaways rather than sitting down to eat. It feels like they’re going for a kind of stylish ambiance — varnished wood walls, square plates, smooth contemporary jazz in the background — but not quite hitting the mark. They have big lush photos of food on the walls, but while the photos are well taken, they’ve just been printed out and laminated before being stuck up. And while the counter and cabinets are all very nice, the back of the fridge looms over everything spoiling their effect. Over all it’s an okay place, but could be more than what it is.

We happened upon Café Redwoods at the right time because I was starving and I love brunch menus. I ordered their bacon and mushroom bagel, except with avocado instead of bacon. This wasn’t a problem and I didn’t have to pay any extra for it, but the staff member who took my order didn’t seem to know what he was doing(maybe he was new, I have no idea) so someone else came to help. I have no problem with that, but neither of them smiled once. Customer service is so, so important and the first(and easiest, surely) thing is smiling at your customers. It lets their café down because the food was really good. Additionally, I didn’t have to wait long and the presentation was great. The avocado maybe wasn’t completely ripe but otherwise the meal was really tasty. In terms of food I would definitely go back(either for brunch or for any of the huge sweet treats and slices in the cabinet) but there’s really nothing about the service, although it wasn’t bad, that is enticing me to return. Even if I lived closer I can’t imagine it being«my local» for that reason alone.
