This is the end of the line… well… sometimes the train goes on the Waitakere but most of the time its a bus change over if you’ve caught the west bound train. Having the day off an plans to do something random we caught the train(which is great if your in no rush to get anywhere and only plan to go to a handful of places) from the Sylvia park and decided to go… as far as it would take us. Apparently that was Swanson. The old platform(which came from Avondale) that houses this little café has been done up with a thick mopping of paint and lots of love. It’s rustic and old timey and the eves posts are made from railway tracks. Lots of outdoor seating this is a great place on a warm day, plenty of covered tables enjoying the fresh air peppered with the most ballsy scavenger sparrows. There is always a yummy selection of light snacks in the cabinet and a pretty extensive menu(despite some oversights such as fries or bagel) Service is excellent and quick without fuss but with a smile.

Went here and thought it was Nice place to have breakfast. Food is prepared well and portions are more than enough. I had the bacon and eggs and would be something I recommend, should you come here. The price is a bit high(high 10’s to low 20’s) but that’s to be expected for an establishment like this. Good overall experience.

A pretty good little café next to the train station in Swanson — the café is housed in what used to be the old station. A group of us came here last Sunday and had a generally favourable impression of what we got there. They had some good food in the cabinet — I got a mini chicken and mushroom quiche which only cost $ 4. My other half got a toasted sandwich which came on a sort of flatbread and tasted good. Two of our group got pasta dishes which they were happy with and overall the food was of a decent standard. The coffee sadly wasn’t quite as good — don’t know if it was a one off but mine was too milky. That is the only real downside though as the there was a relaxed atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. If you are out West on the weekend, you could do worse than stop in here for a bite to eat.
